As the greatest magician of this century, Veili has captured a new pet—a little thing that calls itself a system and can transport people across worlds. Recalling the men who chased him nonstop, ...
Before anyone could respond, he deftly twisted his wrist, and the folding fan in his hand flew out and was thrown into the air. Under the silvery-white light, it vanished with a bang, transforming into a fluttering butterfly.
One of them flew onto Willy's shoulder. The boy looked over curiously, but it vanished like smoke the moment he touched it.
When he looked at Kii Kanade again, he saw that Kii Kanade was holding an ancient and exquisite Yata no Kagami (a type of ancient Chinese mirror). It was made entirely of bronze, and the black runes floating on the frame were coiled like snakes, revealing an aura of solemnity and mystery.
The Yata no Kagami, which originated from the Chinese water mirror, is said to be one of the three sacred treasures of Japan and is used to ward off evil spirits.
Kii Kanade tilted it slightly so that everyone present could see that the empty mirror did not reflect even the slightest shadow, and was completely wet.
He didn't explain, but instead smiled and turned his head to look at Vili.
"Want to give it a try?"
"What do you need to do?"
Vili approached with great interest, leaning against Kii Kanade, his wide haori sleeves swaying slightly.
Kii Kanade took his hand, her well-defined knuckles covering the boy's hand, tracing its shape, and gently stroking it, though it seemed to be just Willy's illusion.
"Tap here."
Before Willy could react, he lightly tapped the mirror with his hand.
The moment their fingertips felt a chill, the calm mirror surface rippled like water, revealing the entire layout of the school building, as if every step they had taken had left its mark on it.
Finally, the image in the mirror gradually blurred again, as if it were surrounded by a soft halo of light, returning to its initial silence.
Vili's eyes shone brightly, and from a perspective unseen by others, magic spread outwards like ripples from the Yata no Kagami (Eight-Span Mirror) throughout the entire school building.
Without Kii Kanade reminding him, he first tapped the ground with his toes.
Sure enough, the ground exhibited a water-like surface, with ripples spreading across it.
He walked back and forth a few more steps with a hint of excitement, while Kii Kanade just smiled and watched him.
"What...what is this?"
For some reason, Matsuo's voice trembled slightly, as if he was shocked by what he was seeing.
Kii Kanade initially didn't intend to pay him any attention, but seeing that Vili was also looking over curiously, he spoke gently:
“Yoshida Yuta has been here for too long… The old school building has practically become his territory; his presence is everywhere.”
This is also why he tacitly agreed to let Masashi Yukimura lead the way...
Although he wouldn't admit it to Willy, as the successor of the Yukimura family's kendo, Yukimura Masashi's "observational skills" are unparalleled.
His katana, known as the "slayer of all evil," never missed. This was due in part to his exceptional skill, and in part to his keen eyesight, which allowed him to instantly pinpoint the enemy's weaknesses.
Making an enemy like this is truly frightening...
Kii Kanade sighed softly, but the smile on her face remained unchanged, and a hint of red light flashed in her eyes.
He continued:
"Given this advantage, and with him so focused on hiding from us, we probably won't be able to catch him even by dawn."
Moreover, once it gets light, Yoshida Yuta will be even better at concealing his presence.
"But just now—"
Kii Kanade's hand gently stroked the frame of the glasses, and in an instant, the folding fan reappeared in his hand.
He habitually unfolded his fan to cover his face, revealing only a pair of smiling peach blossom eyes.
"I have already turned this place into my territory."
“Now, I can get him to come to us on his own initiative.”
"To think they could do something like that..."
Matsuo murmured in disbelief.
A moment later, he quickly looked up at Kii Kanade and said urgently, "Then hurry up and bring him over!"
"I need to ask him where he hid Ahui!"
Kii Kanade's smile remained unchanged:
"OK."
He lightly raised his fan and casually waved it towards the open space not far away. In an instant, a semi-transparent ghost appeared before everyone.
Willy had expected to see a gruesome and terrifying body, but to his surprise, the boy opposite him looked clean and tidy, with not a single wrinkle on his uniform.
His face was filled with pure confusion, as if he didn't understand why he had suddenly appeared there.
If it weren't for his unsteady feet and indistinct figure, he would look no different from any other ordinary elementary school student.
"You've caught me!"
He seemed to finally realize what was happening, a big smile spreading across his face as he happily clapped his hands.
"Now it's my turn to be the ghost!"
As he spoke, he actually obediently turned around, covered his eyes, and began to count.
"one two three……"
"..."
Even the seasoned Yumi Masters seemed bewildered by the scene, hesitating and not making a move for a moment.
Just then, a clear and innocent voice interrupted Yoshida Yuta's counting.
Where are you going?
Willie grabbed the man's clothes, and although he wasn't very strong, he made it impossible for the man to move an inch.
Several gazes simultaneously focused on Matsuo, causing him to freeze on the spot and stop all movement.
When Willie released his grip, he slowly turned around.
Are you going to find Hasegawa Teru?
Before Matsuo could even speak, Willie gave him the reason.
"But why didn't you tell us you were leaving?" The boy seemed genuinely troubled, his petal-like lips slightly pouting.
"I told you I would protect you."
