Upon opening his eyes again, Di Jingcheng found himself running on a thorny jungle path, pursued by enemies. He was ecstatic. In this life, he met Azhi again, and the delicate, soft little girl was...
Azi comforted him, quietly waiting for the man to calm down. She raised her hand and gently cupped his handsome face, kissing him: "Do you like it? I sewed this by hand, and it's a gift for my most beloved husband."
Di Jingcheng smiled and nodded excitedly: "I like everything A Zi gave me."
Di Jingcheng carefully fastened the belt around his waist and pulled Azi outside. The area was already decorated with lanterns and colorful streamers, and festive decorations were everywhere in the courtyard and on the buildings. Red, festive ribbons were scattered all over the place, and green pine needles were strewn on the ground. In the center of the front yard, bright red torches were lit, and a banquet was being held.
Ranlayobu, Nalan Mingzhu, and several elders were already waiting at the ancestral hall. Below, Yimeng and Ana were leading the young men and women in a commotion. Di Jingcheng could understand a little, having learned some basic Yi language after being there for so long.
Azi watched the scene unfold with excitement, tightening her grip on the man's hand, her small face beaming with joy. Yimeng rushed up with her entourage, and taking advantage of Di Jingcheng's inattention, she picked up Azi and ran off.
Although Di Jingcheng was already mentally prepared, he was still a little worried about whether A Zi would get hurt, seeing Yi Meng's actions and the crowd's commotion.
Azi blushed at their teasing and glanced back at the slightly worried man in the crowd, signaling him to relax. Qinghe and Cheng'er, now transformed into a cheerful Yi girl and boy, dragged Di Jingcheng along on either side as they chased after them.
"Groom, hurry! Otherwise, the bride will run away!"
Surrounded by the crowd, the newlyweds ran around the village, with Yimeng carrying Azi on his back and Di Jingcheng chasing behind. Even though Yimeng was a strong young man, he was panting heavily. Azi chuckled and took out a handkerchief to wipe his sweat: "Brother Yimeng, you're running so fast, even Acheng can't catch up."
Yi Meng smiled and continued running forward: "What's this? A Zi is already feeling sorry for him? If he were to chase her all the way from here to the capital and back, he would really suffer."
Azi turned around and looked at Di Jingcheng, who was surrounded by the crowd, her face full of a happy smile: "The bride's family is usually sent to the groom's house, but this time they just run around the village. It's really interesting."
"That kid got off easy, but as Azi's brother, he should suffer a bit in the marriage. He's honest enough not to cheat."
A proud look appeared on Azi's face as she gently patted Yimeng's back: "Acheng would never cheat!"
"Good, good, good. The original wedding ceremony of crying was abandoned by that boy. He does know how to care for our Azi. It's not for nothing that I trusted him."
Ah Zi said the process seemed a little different! But a sweet feeling welled up inside her as she gently swayed her little feet, which were adorned with red, pointed, embroidered shoes.
It wasn't that Di Jingcheng couldn't catch up, but he wanted the ceremony to be more elaborate, and the young men and women were having a great time, making the wedding extremely lively. He watched A Zi's back in front of him, occasionally dealing with the people around him, without the slightest impatience on his face, and even accepted and drank quite a few of the wines offered to him.
Upon arriving at the ancestral hall entrance, Di Jingcheng quickly squeezed through the crowd and, without anyone noticing, appeared beside Yi Meng, pulling A Zi into his arms: "Thank you for your hard work, Yi Meng!"
Yi Meng waved her hand: "It's nothing, I'll just make sure to take good care of my little sister A Zi from now on!"
"Definitely!" Di Jingcheng gazed affectionately at the little girl in his arms, his expression resolute.
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the group of young men and women, who had somehow found an ashtray, appeared. By the time the newlyweds realized what was happening, their faces were covered in black ash, making them look quite comical.
Di Jingcheng quickly bent down to protect the girl in his arms, enduring all the subsequent "attacks." Di Jingcheng was not angry, and looked down to meet A Zi's eyes.
The two looked at each other in the black soot, laughed, gazed at each other happily, and accepted all the blessings. Seeing that the commotion had subsided, Yimeng quickly stepped forward to escort the two into the ancestral hall.
A group of people rushed forward, their faces and bodies clearly covered in black soot, but their faces beaming with joy as they stood in the courtyard of the ancestral hall to witness the wedding.
Ranlayobu and Nalan Mingzhu were both dressed in their finest attire, their faces beaming with loving smiles as they watched Di Jingcheng carefully help Azi in. The old gentleman and the three elders stood on either side, watching the newlyweds with satisfaction.
Di Jingcheng and A Zi knelt before the ancestral tablets in the ancestral hall in front of their elders, and offered incense and kowtowed with piety and respect.
An old woman behind Nalan Mingzhu came out and walked around the couple, chanting blessings for the newlyweds in Yi language. Every now and then, she would stop and gently touch their foreheads with her index finger. Azi and Di Jingcheng knelt down, and the old woman took out a handful of fragrant rice and sprinkled it around them, chanting for a while longer.
Finally, the old woman tapped the tops of their heads. She was clearly in tears, and uttered a single word: "Cry."
Both of them were stunned for a moment, unable to cry! They secretly exchanged a glance, then quickly knelt down properly, going over all their sad memories in their minds, but at the crucial moment, they just couldn't cry!
Several elders watched them anxiously, and everyone in the courtyard, filled with anticipation, quieted down, making the ancestral hall as still as a chicken's nest. But they heard no cries from the newlyweds, and everyone grew increasingly impatient.
Of course, apart from Cheng Er and Qing He, they were puzzled: why was he crying?
The old woman rushed forward and patted the two on the shoulders: "Cry, only by crying can you have happiness and harmony in the future."
Azi tried hard to compose herself, but the thought of leaving the tribe, leaving her grandfather, father, mother, and brother Yimeng suddenly made her sad, and she began to sob softly. When Di Jingcheng heard Azi's crying, his heart ached, and his eyes also welled up with tears.
