Emperor Reborn, The Pampered Empress Is Doted Upon to the Heavens

Upon opening his eyes again, Di Jingcheng found himself running on a thorny jungle path, pursued by enemies. He was ecstatic. In this life, he met Azhi again, and the delicate, soft little girl was...

Chapter 31 A Shocking Scene

Inside the bedroom, the two enjoyed their lunch together, completely oblivious to the turmoil outside.

Azi got up lazily. After eating, she felt sleepy and tired. After all, she had been making a fuss all morning and hadn't had a good rest yet.

Di Jingcheng let her lean softly against his chest and served her as she washed her hands and rinsed her mouth.

"Sweetie, would you like to take a nap?"

Azi nodded, leaned against his warm chest, closed her eyes contentedly, and smiled slightly.

Seeing her so comfortable, like a lazy kitten, Di Jingcheng smiled indulgently: "You really are a lazy kitten."

As he spoke, he gently picked her up and carried her to the inner palace. Passing through classical screens and light gauze curtains, Di Jingcheng slowly placed her on the bed.

Azi snuggled comfortably in his arms and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Fearing that her stomach was uncomfortable, Di Jingcheng lay down with her, supporting her head with one hand and gently rubbing her tummy with the other.

Zheng He and his entourage stood outside the door, not getting a summons from inside, but remained calm and composed.

On Zheng San's side, a group of concubines knelt down at the entrance of Qian Yuan Palace, determined to see the Emperor today no matter what.

Zheng San stood helplessly to the side, hunching over: "Your Highness, please return to the palace with the other ladies. I will inform the Emperor when he summons you."

"Eunuch, today I and all the concubines are determined to see the Emperor, otherwise we will not leave. Please help me to convey this message again: I, along with the ladies of the harem, request an audience with the Emperor." Consort Shu knelt in front, her words gentle, yet now carrying a hint of determination.

The crowd behind them echoed each other, saying that they would not go back until they saw the Emperor, otherwise they would kneel to death at the entrance of Qian Yuan Palace.

Zheng San couldn't afford to offend everyone, so he had no choice but to agree, told someone to keep watch, and went inside himself.

However, he did not disturb Zheng He'er any further, but stood inside the gate of Qianyuan Hall and watched from a distance to prevent them from barging in.

Zheng He and his entourage had been waiting for over an hour, and the emperor should have finished his lunch. So they stepped forward and gently knocked on the door: "Your Majesty, this servant has come in to serve you."

There was no response from inside. Qinghe came out from the side hall carrying the medicine, her eyes filled with doubt: "Have His Majesty and the Empress finished their lunch? The imperial physician's medicine is ready, but the Empress hasn't taken it yet."

Zheng He'er had just found an excuse to go in. He stepped forward and carefully knocked on the door: "Your Majesty, the master's medicine has been delivered."

Di Jingcheng did not fall asleep, but lay beside Azi. With his excellent hearing, he heard faint sounds coming from outside, which was not enough to disturb the little girl's sleep.

He didn't make a sound, but carefully pulled his arm out from under her head. Azi naturally turned over, her little mouth moved, but her eyes didn't open.

Di Jingcheng gently patted her back, and she fell asleep again. So he got up and went out, carefully getting out of bed, gently tucking the blanket around her, and then planting a loving kiss on her cheek, his eyes so tender they could melt your heart.

Di Jingcheng walked out and gently closed the door. Azi was also no longer sleepy and suddenly opened her eyes. What came into view was a pale yellow brocade curtain.

She stared straight ahead without blinking for a while before blinking again, slowly sitting up as the quilt slipped off her body.

She sat on the bed, staring blankly at the magnificent palace gate behind the curtains, her eyes filled with sorrow and helplessness. She liked Di Jingcheng very much, but before coming to see him, she hadn't expected that everything she was facing now would leave her so exhausted in just two days.

She naturally wants someone she likes to be unique and belong to her in every way. She is far from home and only has him now. Although he says he loves her, she doesn't know whether she should trust him.

To be honest, these past two days in the palace, she had seen a magnificence and wealth she had never seen before, which dazzled her. But all she wanted was for him to be uniquely hers.

The woman who called herself Consort Xian was giving the inexperienced young woman a real headache, and she regretted her impulsive decision to come here.

Azi was still a young girl with an unsettled mind, and having lived in a secluded tribe for a long time, she was at a loss for what to do when she encountered something so disturbing for the first time.

She sighed deeply, came to her senses, got up, picked up the clothes beside her and slowly put them on. She didn't know how to style her hair, so she simply tied her long hair up with a ribbon and let it hang down in front of her chest. She then lifted the curtain and went out.

Just then, the door outside creaked open, and Qinghe walked in carrying the medicine.

"Master, you're awake! Let me serve you your medicine!" Qinghe's face lit up with joy when she saw her come out, and she quickly came to greet her. She placed the medicine on the table beside her and then helped her sit on the soft couch.

Azi felt a little uncomfortable when she saw that she was going to feed her herself: "I'll do it myself."

Qinghe dared not disobey her orders, so she handed the medicine bowl to her and stood quietly to the side.

Ah Zi slowly drank the medicine, which was very bitter. She didn't want to drink any more after drinking half of it.

"Your Highness, this is a calming medicine prescribed by the imperial physician. Please drink some more," Qinghe gently advised.

Azi pursed her lips and frowned: "This medicine is really too bitter!"

Qinghe pulled a tightly wrapped paper bag from her wide sleeve and unfolded it in her palm: "Master, please try this. It's candied fruit, very sweet."

Upon hearing this, Azi's gloom vanished. She nodded, took a fruit, and put it in her mouth. The original bitterness was completely masked, replaced by the sweetness of fruit, which made her feel much better.

She gave a sweet smile: "It's delicious, thank you! Qinghe!"
