Engaged to Be Broken Up: The Pitiful Girl Brings Space and Rises

A car accident caused Su Hua to transmigrate into a thirteen-year-old foolish girl in Shanghe Village of the Great Yu Dynasty.

Her home was bare, she was clumsy at everything, nothing she pla...

Chapter 43 Infertility

"Whoa—" Su Dahu hurriedly tightened the reins.

Fortunately, they were in a narrow alley, so the Su siblings slowed down to catch the train.

The old ox kicked its hoof, and the oxcart stopped a foot away from the people.

Seeing that the person in front of the car hadn't moved for a while, Su Dahu was about to get out of the car to check when the moonlit figure suddenly stumbled to her feet again, barely managing to support herself as she bowed apologetically to the Su siblings, "Today... I'm really sorry, I'm so sorry."

Su Hua raised her eyebrows slightly. The young man had a face as white as powder and lips as red as cinnabar. He wore a moon-colored gauze robe, which made him look even more gentle and refined. If she hadn't heard his voice, she would have thought he was a young lady from somewhere.

Moreover, this man looked somewhat familiar.

Just as she was looking around, she heard Su Dahu beside her exclaim in surprise.

"What's wrong with my brother-in-law?"

Su Hua and the man were both stunned at the same time.

The man rubbed his eyes, his eyelids opening and closing as he stared at the Su siblings for a long time before finally becoming more awake.

"Oh, it's my elder brother. And this one too..." The man smiled, but then let out a burp. "This must be Sister Hua'er. If I didn't look closely, I wouldn't recognize her. Come on, let's go home. Sui'er was talking about you the other day..."

Before he could finish speaking, he collapsed in front of the oxcart.

The old ox couldn't avoid it and was kissed directly on its dark hoof by the man.

Immediately, he began to snore loudly.

Su Hua's lips twitched violently. She really hadn't expected that this frail-looking man was actually Su Sui's husband, Wang Chunfu.

Su Dahu frowned deeply, glanced at the Wang family's house just around the corner, sighed softly, and jumped off the carriage. "Hua'er, come and help your older brother. Let's get him onto the oxcart first."

"Alright!" Su Hua got up and got off the cart, walked up to Wang Chunfu, grabbed him by the collar, and threw him directly onto the oxcart.

There was a thin cotton pad on the bus, so there was no worry about people bumping into things.

However, the way she moved so lightly, as if she were carrying a mouse, still made Su Dahu click his tongue in amazement. All three of them, the Su brothers, combined probably couldn't match their little sister's strength!

The brother and sister pulled the oxcart and stopped in front of the Wang family's house.

"Knock knock knock—"

Su Dahu raised his hand and knocked on the courtyard gate.

A moment later, footsteps approached from afar, and the courtyard gate was opened from the inside.

Immediately, a middle-aged man in his forties or fifties came out. Upon seeing the Su siblings, he paused for a moment, then broke into a smile.

"Dahu and Hua'er are here. Come in and sit down."

"Hello, Uncle Wang. We caught a wild boar yesterday, and my mother asked me to bring some over and check on Sui'er while I'm at it." Su Dahu greeted Wang's father with a smile, then pointed to the people on the oxcart. "Look, we just got to the alley entrance when we ran into Chunfu, who was passed out drunk on the ground."

"What?" Wang's father was shocked and rushed over.

Seeing that her son was really drunk and drowsy, she subtly pinched his wrist.

But Wang Chunfu was like a dead pig.

She only mumbled one sentence, "It hurts, don't make a sound."

Then, she turned over and went back to sleep.

"That child!" Father Wang chuckled, stretching out his hands to scoop his son up and carry him into the yard, muttering to himself, "Isn't it just that business at the family shop hasn't been good lately? He actually went drinking like everyone else, and got so drunk he passed out. He's really making a fool of himself!"

"Is business not good at the store?" Su Dahu asked, supporting Wang Chunfu's arm.

His previously furrowed brows relaxed considerably.

"That's right!" Wang's father sighed and helped Wang Chunfu walk inside. "A tiny general store can't earn much money every day. Business is getting harder and harder every day. No wonder Chunfu is anxious."

Su Hua carried the large basket on her back from the oxcart and followed behind the two.

Although the Wang family courtyard was not large, it was fully equipped. The courtyard gate faced the main hall, and there was a side room on each side of the main hall. Next to the west side room were a kitchen, a utility room, and an outhouse.

The front yard is about three-tenths of an acre in size, with a few sparse plants of scallions, ginger, and garlic.

Compared to the Su family's old vegetable garden, it is just as impressive.

After settling Wang Chunfu in, Su Dahu smiled and took out the items from his basket. "This is wild boar meat that we hunted at home. Uncle Wang and Aunt Wang like fatty meat, while Sui'er and Chunfu like lean meat, so Mother asked me to bring one with both fat and lean meat. This is also a type of snail, a new dish that my little sister came up with. In addition, this dried bracken was picked by the children in the back mountain. It's March now, which is the perfect season for eating bracken."

Mr. Wang's smile widened even more. "Oh my, my dear in-laws, you're too kind. You have something good that you still think of us two old folks."

As he smelled the aroma of the snails, a hint of doubt flashed across his eyes.

The youngest daughter of the Su family has always been a bit simple-minded, but looking at her today, there's not a trace of stupidity in her bright, clear eyes.

Moreover, just by smelling it, you can tell that this so-called flavored snail is quite delicious.

If she were truly a fool, how could she possibly prepare such food?

Seeing that Su Sui was nowhere to be seen in the Wang family's house, Su Dahu asked, "Uncle Wang, is Sui'er still at the shop? If you can't get away, can we siblings go and check on her?"

“Sui’er isn’t at the shop right now.” Father Wang shook his head to stop him. “She went to the temple in the suburbs with my wife this morning. She probably won’t be back until this afternoon.”

"Go to a temple?" Su Dahu asked, somewhat puzzled.

Why would anyone go to some temple these days when it's neither a holiday nor a festival?

Father Wang sighed heavily, his face etched with wrinkles. “Dahu, you know that in our Wang family, Chunfu is the only son. But now, Sui’er has been married for three years, and there’s still no sign of pregnancy. As the saying goes, of the three unfilial acts, the greatest is to have no offspring. We two old folks are so anxious. That’s why we’re letting Sui’er go and offer prayers while the weather is nice.”
