Chapter 492 Double Happiness Arrives in the Village

Xiao Jinhan gestured with his hand, "I trust him, he'll handle it."

Upon hearing this, Yu Feng silently swallowed. "Yes, I will take care of it immediately. However, what about Princess Mingzhu...?"

The matter with Su Sanhu is over, but the matter with Princess Mingzhu is not yet over.

The man narrowed his eyes slightly. "After the sweet potato vines from Zaozhuang are distributed tomorrow, have Yu Yu come over."

"Yes," Yu Feng replied, bowing respectfully.

The moon's shadow shifted gently, and the dark sky was gradually replaced by gray and white. Mist rose and enveloped the mountains and rivers. With the rousing crowing of roosters, Shanghe Village was fully awakened.

At the end of the village, smoke curls upwards from the chimneys of large brick and tile houses.

The aroma of braised beef wafted from the kitchen, gradually spreading throughout the courtyard through the wide-open doors and windows.

Two days ago, the Baihu family delivered three large wild oxen. Half of one of them was left uneaten. Su Baishi and her family divided it into two parts. Most of it was smoked into cured beef to be eaten slowly in the autumn and winter. The small part was made into braised beef and kept in an ice basin to be used to mix with noodles.

Hand-pulled noodles, with beef bone broth as the base, braised beef as the topping, a handful of trendy bok choy, and a ring of chopped scallions, are the best comfort for the body and soul.

Each member of the Su family held a bowl of braised beef noodles, some sitting in the main room and others in the pavilion in the front yard. Su Hua found the main room too hot, so she went to sit in the pavilion. Su Sanhu ate his noodles while his eyes darted around. When he saw Su Bai get up from the pavilion, he immediately scurried over there.

"Hua'er, your third brother has something to tell you..."

However, halfway through the conversation, a laugh rang out from the gate, "Oh dear, I've really come at the wrong time today. The Lady of Le'an County and Sanhu are having breakfast! What kind of dishes are these? My old woman's mouth is watering just from the smell!"

Su Sanhu quickly stopped talking and lowered his head to focus on eating the noodles.

Su Hua chuckled and raised her voice, "Danfeng, serve Aunt Liu a bowl of noodles."

"Princess Le'an, please don't be so polite. I've already had breakfast." Widow Liu waved her hands repeatedly. As she spoke, she had already walked from the door to the pavilion. Looking at the braised beef in the bowls of the brother and sister, she still couldn't help but swallow her saliva.

With difficulty, he looked away. "Princess of Le'an County, today is Chunniu's wedding day. You must do me the honor of coming and have a drink!"

Su Bai stuck her head out of the kitchen and called out, "Don't worry, I, this old woman, will never forget what I promised. In a little while, I'll take Da Lang and Er Lang to roll the new bed for you two."

"I have complete confidence in Sister Su's abilities!" Widow Liu said with a beaming smile. "I came today specifically to invite your whole family to my home for a feast. That's why I came early this morning, worried that you might not be able to find me if you went out!"

Upon hearing this, the Su family all turned to look at the pavilion. Was they inviting the whole family to a feast?

Liu Jinhua wasn't usually a generous person!

Widow Liu, who is usually quite bold, was a little embarrassed by the stares and chuckled, "It's just that business has been good lately, and this is a joyous occasion that only comes around once every ten years or so, so I thought I'd make it as lively as possible. I specially hired a master chef from town and set up thirty tables. Any villagers from Shanghe Village who are willing to come, this old woman will welcome them all!"

Halfway through his sentence, he turned to Su Hua with a fawning smile and said, "If the Princess of Le'an County would be so kind as to attend our wedding banquet, our Liu family would be truly radiant, and I, this old woman, could boast about it for the rest of my life!"

Upon hearing this, the Su family members immediately understood what she meant!

She wasn't there to host a family banquet, but specifically to invite Hua'er to a feast.

Su Hua didn't like crowds, but since the other party had said so much, and they lived in the same village, it wouldn't hurt to go over for a meal. "Auntie, you can go back and get busy first. I'll go with my mother and the others later."

"Yes, yes! Yes! Yes!" Widow Liu said "yes" three times in a row when she saw that she had agreed, and her face was beaming with joy. "It is a blessing for our Liu family that the Princess of Le'an has honored us with her presence. I will go back now and ask the cooks to add two more dishes that the Princess likes."

Actually, if Su Hua weren't so young, she would have wanted her to be a virgin in bed. Now, being able to invite her to the wedding banquet is a small way of making up for that regret.

Su Hua watched the retreating figure disappear into the distance, feeling both amused and exasperated. She quickly finished the rest of her noodles. "By the way, Third Brother, you said you had something to tell me. What is it?"

Su Sanhu waved his hand, "No, it's nothing, it's not a big deal, we'll talk about it when you get back."

“Okay.” Su Hua raised an eyebrow, without giving it much thought.

After a quick tidying up, Su Baishi, Su Dalang and Erlang changed into new clothes and carried the congratulatory gifts to the Liu family. The gifts were given according to the village custom: a piece of meat, twenty eggs, and twenty copper coins.

When the Su family arrived, many villagers had already gathered in the Liu family's courtyard.

Su Baishi took the two Su brothers to roll around on the bed, while Su Hua was immediately pulled to sit at a table by Aunt Zhou and Mudfish Mother as soon as she entered the courtyard.

Mudfish Girl grabbed a handful of peanuts for her, her eyes blazing with gossip. "Princess Le'an, Liu Chunniu isn't the only one getting married in Shanghe Village today. It's double happiness in our village!"

"Double happiness?" Su Hua took the peanuts and gently pressed her fingertips into the crevices. "Who else is getting married?"

Mudfish Girl smiled and said, "It is indeed the Feng family, the gambling scholar."

"Scholar Feng?" Su Hua was taken aback, then a thought struck her. "He married Meng Yun'er?"

“The Lady of Le’an County guessed correctly; it is indeed Meng Yun’er.” Aunt Zhou took over the conversation, her expression somewhat strange. “However, although it’s called a wedding, it can’t really be considered one.”

Meng Yun'er went directly to the Feng family with a small bundle, saying that she had been registered with the Feng family and was now a member of the Feng family, which infuriated Old Lady Feng.
