The apocalypse arrived overnight, zombies rampaged, creatures mutated, and the world became increasingly strange.
Giant pythons over a hundred meters long, giant crocodiles tens of meters lon...
Peng Gang glanced around.
Not a single person dropped out; they were all incredibly enthusiastic, their eyes gleaming.
Peng Gang had anticipated this, and then put on a stern face, saying in a stern voice, "You have two hours to go back and pack your things and bring them here. If you don't return after two hours, it will be considered that you have given up your chance to join the lakeside camp!"
"And also, keep your mouths shut! Don't tell anyone what you did or ate at the lakeside camp! And don't mention what we have here! If you're caught, expulsion will be the least of your worries!"
Just as Peng was about to leave, he suddenly heard a burly man ask loudly, "Sir, I have a wife at home. Can I bring her with me?"
Peng Gang was taken aback when he heard the question.
Minister Li never mentioned this issue.
How should I answer this?
"You can bring them, even if you have children! But we'll only provide enough food for one person! And if the camp finds out that the other person isn't your girlfriend or wife, you'll both be expelled!"
Bai Feiming suddenly appeared beside Peng Gang, her tone cold.
Nangong Wenyao has already worked hard for a long time, and Bai Feiming doesn't want to trouble Wenyao with this matter.
We can only make tough statements for now.
If they are still willing to bring it over under these circumstances, then it means that the other party is indeed fine.
Then, the people they brought can naturally be counted as survivors who joined normally.
Seeing that no one asked any more questions, Bai Feiming vanished again in a flash.
Like a ghost.
Some of the temporary workers hesitated, unsure whether they should bring their lovers along.
After all, once brought here, the food that could have been enough for me to eat and drink my fill would now have to be shared by two people.
They might not even have enough to eat by then.
But in Chen Ding's eyes, there was wild joy!
After a soldier explained some precautions, the camp finally allowed them to pass.
Chen Ding hurriedly ran towards the shack area.
With the help of the moonlight and the dim streetlights, Chen Dingxian returned to the shack where he lived.
In the darkness, he pulled a small bag from a pile of tattered clothes; inside was a little over two ounces of rice.
She then changed into her best outfit.
Without hesitation, Chen Ding ran towards another shack not far away.
Arriving at the outside of a shack, Chen Ding was about to knock on the door.
Hearing the sounds coming from inside, Chen Ding's hand froze.
He wanted to push the door open and yell at the man to get out, but he was afraid of seeing something he didn't want to see.
Taking a deep breath, Chen Ding walked to the side and stared blankly at the dim streetlights in the distance.
The woman inside the house murmured softly, while Chen Ding outside felt as if his heart was being torn apart.
I don't know how much time has passed.
The door opened, and a man, while putting on his clothes, said with a smile, "You're really helpful. I'll come find you again next time."
"Okay, take care." A young woman wearing only underwear leaned against the door and smiled.
It was already winter, but she was covered in sweat.
She was somewhat thin, but rather pretty.
Her body was covered with marks left by men's lips.
After the man left, the young woman was about to close the door when she saw Chen Ding not far away.
Her body stiffened, and the smile on her face vanished.
With a soft sigh, the woman said gently, "Come in."
Chen Ding silently walked into the house, closed the door, and was just about to speak.
The woman sighed, "Coming to me at this hour, wanting it again? You've been hungry for so long, and you won't take the food I give you, yet you're thinking about doing 'that'? What a waste of your energy."
Chen Ding shook his head, walked to the woman's side, and whispered, "Xiao Yan, I'll take you somewhere later, but you must remember one thing: you absolutely, positively must say you're my girlfriend..."
Xiao Yan interrupted him directly, saying, "Chen Ding, we broke up the moment we met at the base! I'm no longer your childhood sweetheart! I'm just a whore who'll sleep with you for a pittance! Don't mention the word 'girlfriend' again!"
Feeling that her words had been too harsh, Xiao Yan slumped down onto the earthen bed covered with sponges and sheets.
He hugged his knees, buried his head in them, and murmured, "Chen Ding, forget me, really. This will only torment both of us. There are four pounds of rice by my bed. Take them as my way of thanking you for taking care of me before."
Chen Ding sighed and sat down next to Xiao Yan.
He took the wrapped food out of his underwear pocket and unwrapped it layer by layer until the plastic bag was open.
A rich aroma wafted out.
Chen Ding picked up two pieces of cured meat and smiled, "Take a look at this."
Xiao Yan smelled the fragrance and looked up.
I was stunned.
Those were actually two pieces of cured meat!
At the base, this thing is extremely precious, and even ordinary people from major powers cannot get their hands on it.
How could Chen Ding possibly have...?
Xiao Yan wasn't delighted; instead, she frowned and asked, "Chen Ding, what have you been doing?"
Chen Ding stood up and cautiously peered out through the gaps in the shack.
No one is present.
Then he leaned close to Xiaoyan's ear and whispered, "I joined the lakeside camp today. This is the dinner at the lakeside camp. I saved half of it and brought it over for you."
Xiao Yan was taken aback and subconsciously asked, "Really? You're not lying to me?"
Chen Ding nodded and said with a smile, "We've known each other since we were kids. Have you ever seen me lie to you?"
Seeing the smile on Chen Ding's face, Xiao Yan inexplicably believed him.
Chen Ding said sincerely, "Xiao Yan, eat these. Consider this the first thing I've done for you from now on. I'm useless. Since I met you in this base, I've never been able to help you at all. Instead, I've made you suffer a lot."
