Chapter 345 Military Camp

Si Mingye piloted the enormous flying platform steadily toward the nearest military camp.

From above, the military camp was filled with strange beasts roaming around. Most of them were wearing camouflage uniforms and were obviously mutated soldiers from this place.

The enormous flying platform hovered in mid-air, and Chu Wanwan began to draw a freezing spell in the air.

The enormous talisman hovered in mid-air, freezing all the wandering beasts in place.

"Great, now we can easily enter the military camp." Yang Hao said with a sigh of relief as he looked at the frozen beast.

Chu Wanwan smiled slightly, looking at her masterpiece with satisfaction. She turned to Si Mingye: "Let's go down and first look for any usable equipment and supplies. Then check if there are any survivors, and finally burn this area to prevent any surviving alien beast eggs!"

Si Mingye nodded and maneuvered the flying platform to a slow descent. The group carefully avoided the immobilized beasts and began searching the military camp.

They found some military-grade compressed biscuits and spoiled canned goods, military self-heating meals, hot pot ingredients, etc., most of which were moldy and inedible.

Upon seeing this, Yang Hao's mood visibly dropped.

Seeing this, Chu Wanwan smiled and said, "Don't worry about food. You won't lack food in the future." Yang Hao's eyes flashed with doubt upon hearing this, but seeing Chu Wanwan's confident smile, he was overjoyed.

"Oh right, I almost forgot, you're a god! You can conjure up anything! God Chu, I'll leave you in my care when we get back to the base."

"You have no idea what kind of life our people at the base are living. We've gone from two meals a day to one meal every two days, and we're eating expired instant noodles and biscuits. If you hadn't come, we probably wouldn't have lasted much longer!"

As Yang Hao spoke, a hint of sadness flashed in his eyes.

They had indeed had a very difficult time lately. Food was scarce, everyone was emaciated from hunger, and they had to be constantly on guard against attacks from strange beasts. Now, the arrival of Chu Wanwan and her group gave them hope.

Chu Wanwan felt a pang of emotion upon hearing this. This sudden disaster had plunged humanity into an unprecedented predicament. She took a deep breath and nodded solemnly, "Don't worry, I will do my best to help everyone. Once we return to the base, I will begin to address this problem."

"Okay!" Yang Hao nodded gratefully.

The group continued their search and found a considerable amount of rice and flour. Yang Hao opened them and exclaimed with delight, "None of this has spoiled; it's edible!"

Upon hearing this, Chu Wanwan waved her hand, and the food entered her spatial dimension.

Yang Hao was not surprised to see this.

Gods, of course they have their own methods.

They continued their search and found more than a dozen survivors near the granary, in a place that looked like an army mess hall. These people were ragged and haggard, but their eyes shone with the will to survive.

Upon seeing Chu Wanwan and her group, they were initially taken aback, but then their faces lit up with elation. They swarmed around her, bombarding her with questions about whether she and her group were part of a rescue team and what the situation was like outside.

"Rescue team? You could call it that! But we're way better than the rescue team! As for the situation outside, you can go and see for yourselves." Yang Hao said proudly to Si Mingye and Chu Wanwan.

"Much better than the rescue team? You must have a lot of people, right? Let's go check it out!"

As they spoke, they walked toward the small door leading to the granary.

To keep out the monsters, the entrance to the cafeteria has been piled with all sorts of odds and ends, making it temporarily impossible to leave.

Soon the group arrived outside the granary, and they were stunned when they saw a large number of strange beasts standing motionless outside.

"What's wrong with them? Why are they standing there motionless!"

A soldier swallowed hard and asked.

"Speaking of this, I have to introduce these two to you..."

Yang Hao smiled smugly and pointed at Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye, beginning to describe their identities and their prowess.

The dozen or so soldiers were stunned.

"Gods? Are there gods in this world?"

"Oh my god! Am I dreaming? You know what? Every night before I go to sleep I pray that God will open His eyes and send a deity to save us, and I never thought it would actually come true!"

"My God! I've seen a living god!"

...

The soldiers were overjoyed, some even weeping with happiness.

The apocalypse has arrived, and they have been trapped here for several months. Food is scarce, and they are constantly living in fear. Their minds are always on edge. Now, they suddenly meet the legendary gods who rescue them from the jaws of monsters. How could they not be excited?

"Alright! Are there any other survivors in the military camp?" Chu Wanwan asked with a smile.

"I wonder if they're still alive? We've been hiding here for almost two years. Two years ago, the alien beast eggs entered a mass maturation period, and most of our comrades in the military camp mutated. Some of the survivors hid in nearby houses, while others desperately drove helicopters, armored vehicles, and other vehicles to escape, but most of our comrades were killed by the alien beasts!"

"We, a dozen or so men, were spared only because we took refuge in this canteen in time. If the others had hidden elsewhere, surrounded by so many strange beasts and lacking food, I believe they would have been in grave danger as well," replied a soldier who appeared to be the leader, his voice filled with deep sorrow.

"No matter what! Everyone search the entire camp thoroughly, leaving no corner unchecked. This time, we must rescue all the survivors." As soon as Chu Wanwan finished speaking, the soldiers immediately dispersed to search for the survivors.

It wasn't until dusk that everyone gathered together.

They found no survivors, but instead several piles of bones of soldiers who had starved to death. They lay there quietly, silently telling the story of the cruelty of the apocalypse and the fragility of life.

Chu Wanwan collected all the supplies and weapons in the barracks, and finally had Si Mingye set the barracks ablaze, burning it to the ground.

"Hey! Can you guys fly helicopters, tanks, and heavy armored vehicles?" Chu Wanwan asked.

"I can fly helicopters..."

"I am a tank soldier..."

"Armored vehicles are easy, I can..."

The soldiers answered in a cacophony of voices.

Chu Wanwan nodded in satisfaction, "In that case, let's charge back to the base, and we can also shout some messages along the way!"

So Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye boarded a helicopter and a tank respectively, recorded their message, and played it on a loop.

"Survivors, this is the M City rescue team..."
