Apocalypse + Rebirth + Other Dimension Stockpiling + Base Building + No System + No Superpowers + No Zombies
On July 5, 2025, a beam of high-energy particles pierced the sun, instantly draini...
As the convoy adjusted its formation, the surroundings became much quieter, and Chen Yu nodded in satisfaction.
"Mr. Chen Yu, this is my newly developed dessert—'Snowy Berry Tart.' Would you like to try it and see how it tastes?" Qiao Meng walked up to Chen Yu with a smile, carrying the freshly baked dessert, her eyes filled with nervousness and anticipation.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yu put down the walkie-talkie, looked at Qiao Meng, and smiled, "Little Qiao, you've really worked hard."
This dessert, with its delicate round tart shell base and golden, crispy edges, is the result of Qiao Meng's meticulous baking.
The tart shell is covered with a thick layer of cream cheese filling, its delicate texture as light as a cloud, melting in your mouth.
On top of the cream cheese, vibrant berries are scattered, including deep red strawberries, bright purple blueberries, and golden raspberries. They intertwine, creating a colorful display, like flowers blooming in a winter snowfield.
Looking at the colorful and enticing dessert, and sensing Qiao Meng's anticipation for this little creation, Chen Yu felt a surge of warmth in his heart.
Taking the small spoon from Qiao Meng, he gently scooped up a spoonful of dessert and put it in his mouth.
Instantly, his taste buds were captivated by this unique flavor. He closed his eyes to savor it, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
"Xiao Qiao, not bad! Your cooking skills have improved again," Chen Yu exclaimed sincerely.
"No, Mr. Chen Yu, I'm glad you think it's delicious." Qiao Meng lowered her head shyly, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up, and her eyes sparkled with joy.
"What? Have you eaten?" Lin Lele was suddenly jolted awake from her dream, whether from overhearing Chen Yu and Qiao Meng's conversation or from smelling the aroma of delicious food. She mumbled in a daze.
Upon seeing the desserts placed in front of Chen Yu, her eyes instantly lit up, as if even the drowsiness had been chased away by the sweet aroma.
He immediately rushed over, grabbed the spoon, and put it in his mouth.
Suddenly, the sled RV braked sharply, and due to inertia, Lin Lele lurched forward, her little face landing directly on the plate.
"Who is it? Who ambushed this great lady?" Lin Lele suddenly raised her head, looking bewildered and a little angry, only to find herself in a very unladylike position, intimately in contact with the plate, her cheeks and nose already smeared with bits of cream and berry color, looking both comical and cute.
"Commander, I'm sorry, are you all alright?" Driver Xiao Yang's voice came through the walkie-talkie.
"It's alright, we're fine," Chen Yu replied.
Lin Lele pointed only to her smeared face and said anxiously, "How come you're alright? I'm in trouble!"
Chen Yu ignored him and continued speaking to Xiao Yang on the other end of the walkie-talkie: "What happened?"
"Commander, you'll see when you come out and take a look." Xiao Yang's voice was tinged with bitterness and shock.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yu frowned, opened the car door, and got out.
Outside, snowflakes were falling, covering everything in a silvery white blanket, but the scene before him made Chen Yu's heart tighten.
Not far ahead, at the foot of the hillside, a huge crater appeared, stretching across the snowfield, as if the earth had been cleaved open by a sharp blade, revealing its deep wound.
Around the crater, the snow was churned up, forming a chaotic snowdrift. Some tree branches and limbs swallowed by the crater looked particularly desolate.
Chen Yu frowned and turned to Qiao Meng and Lin Lele in the car, saying, "You two stay in the car. Xiao Yang and I will go check ahead."
Qiao Meng nodded, while Lin Lele muttered somewhat unwillingly, "I want to go and see too."
"Bang!" Chen Yu seemed not to hear Lin Lele's grumbling and slammed the car door shut.
Xiao Yang was already standing outside the car, his face full of worry. Chen Yu patted him on the shoulder and said, "Relax, don't scare yourself. Let's go see what's going on first."
Hearing Chen Yu's words of comfort, Xiao Yang took a deep breath and nodded.
The two carefully made their way to the edge of the crevice through the thick snow.
Snowflakes danced around them, adding a touch of mystery to the sudden crisis.
Chen Yu had sharp eyes. He carefully observed the direction of the crack and the surrounding environment, trying to find out the reason for its appearance.
As they approached the crater, Chen Yu discovered that its edges were unusually sharp, as if they had been instantly torn apart by some powerful force.
He crouched down and gently touched the snow at the edge of the crack with his finger. He found the snow to be unusually hard; it instantly turned into tiny ice crystals, radiating a bone-chilling cold. He frowned, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.
"This crack... doesn't seem to have been formed naturally," Chen Yu said to Xiao Yang in a low voice, his voice tinged with seriousness.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Yang's expression tensed up again. "You mean, there were human factors involved?"
Chen Yu nodded, raised his binoculars, and scanned the area around the crater, searching for any possible clues.
Suddenly, Chen Yu's gaze was drawn to an unusual reflective spot at the end of a crack in the distance.
He quickly adjusted the focus of the telescope, and the reflective spot gradually became clearer—it was a metal fragment with sharp edges and a thin layer of frost on its surface, clearly fallen from a height and left behind here.
Seeing this, Chen Yu had a bold guess in his mind, and without saying a word, he quickly ran back to the RV.
He retrieved a snowmobile from the garage located under the vehicle and climbed onto it.
He then instructed Lin Lele and Qiao Meng, who were peeking out of the window, "Notify Lei Tao to have the convoy behind them set up camp and wait for orders."
After saying that, he stepped on the gas, and the snowmobile shot off like an arrow into the vast snowfield, heading straight for the location of the metal fragment.
