Apocalypse + Rebirth + Other Dimension Stockpiling + Base Building + No System + No Superpowers + No Zombies
On July 5, 2025, a beam of high-energy particles pierced the sun, instantly draini...
Lin Lele followed Chen Yu and Sophia nervously into the headquarters building of the military industry group.
Her heart was racing; she had no idea what she was about to face.
Lin Lele remained unmoved as she looked at the various weapons and equipment displayed throughout the building.
As a girl, she wasn't particularly interested in weapons and equipment to begin with, and now, due to her fear of the unknown future, she had even less interest in visiting the exhibits.
Soon, Chen Yu and Lin Lele followed Sophia into a conference room.
Sofia's secretary handed Chen Yu and Lin Lele a stack of documents each.
“Mr. Chen, Ms. Lin, please make sure you sign these confidentiality agreements first,” Sophia said.
Chen Yu nodded upon hearing this, and opened the documents, which were filled with densely packed clauses.
Chen Yu began to review each item in turn, not because he cared about confidentiality or anything like that.
Rather, he was afraid that the other party might set a trap for him, making him sign some unclear or ambiguous documents.
Lin Lele was even more cautious about these terms. She frowned and compared them one by one with great focus, afraid that there might be something unfavorable to her.
At first, Lin Lele's expression was relatively normal. The confidentiality clauses were nothing more than things like, "I promise that what I see and hear at XX Group shall not be disclosed to outsiders, not even the shape of a screw."
But the further she went, the more she felt something was off, and even things like the F-35B fighter jet's piloting parameters and experience came up.
Just kidding, she's never even seen what an F-35B actually looks like, so how would she know anything about the driving experience?
In response, Lin Lele immediately protested: "Sister Sophia, I know your military industrial group has very high confidentiality requirements, but for things that we can't access, you still make me sign a confidentiality agreement, which is completely meaningless!"
Sofia frowned upon hearing this, glanced at her secretary, who shrugged, indicating that she would not make any mistakes.
Seeing this, Sophia had no choice but to ask Lin Lele, "Ms. Lin, I think you've misunderstood. Our XX Group has always valued efficiency and would never do anything meaningless. May I ask which clause you have a question about?"
Seeing that the other party wouldn't admit it, Lin Lele became somewhat angry. She pointed to one of the signs and said, "Look at this: 'Unauthorized photography of the interior of an F-35B fighter jet is strictly prohibited.'"
"Uh...is there a problem?" Sophia asked, puzzled.
"Is there a problem?" Lin Lele asked, somewhat speechless. "Big sister, do you mean you want me to go inside the cockpit of an F-35B fighter jet?"
"How can you fly it without getting into the cockpit?" Sofia smiled wryly. "The F-35B isn't a drone."
"What? Pilot?" Lin Lele's eyes widened, pointing to her nose. "You mean you want me to pilot an F-35?"
Just then, Chen Yu finished signing the confidentiality agreement. He looked up and said to Lin Lele in an annoyed tone, "Otherwise what? Otherwise, what's the point of me paying you so much for training? Let me tell you, I'm only giving you four months. Within four months, you must make sure the F-35 can fly safely. Otherwise, these training fees will be deducted from your salary!"
"The training you're talking about is teaching me how to fly an airplane?" Lin Lele's heart skipped a beat, and her eyes widened even more, as if her eyeballs were about to pop out.
She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Chen Yu actually wanted to train her to be a fighter pilot. What kind of joke was this?
"Mr. Chen, are you serious?" Lin Lele's voice trembled noticeably, and her fingers unconsciously gripped the edge of the conference table tightly, her nails almost digging into the wood.
There was no trace of joking on Chen Yu's face; his eyes were serious and firm: "Of course, this is one of your duties."
"But I... but I'm just a secretary!" Lin Lele said, looking aggrieved.
"That's settled then. You can choose to learn or not," Chen Yu said firmly. "Of course, if I don't see any results from you within four months, your training fee will be deducted from your salary."
"How much?" Lin Lele asked nervously.
“Hehe, Ms. Lin, don’t worry. We’ve already given you a 20% discount on your training fee, which is a total of 16 million US dollars. We’ll collect half upfront, and you can pay the rest after you’ve learned the skills. In other words, if you don’t learn it, you don’t have to pay the rest,” Sophia explained to Lin Lele with a smile.
"Hiss~" Lin Lele's heart tightened upon hearing this. Half of 16 million is still 8 million! If she couldn't learn it in four months, Chen Yu would demand 8 million from her! And it would be in US dollars!
"Fine! I knew it! Chen Yu, I thought you were a good capitalist, but I didn't expect you to dig a pit for me like this!" Lin Lele said angrily.
She realized that she had been tricked by Chen Yu; this heartless capitalist wanted her to work for him for free for the rest of her life!
"What nonsense! Hurry up and sign the agreement. I'm waiting to sign the contract!" Chen Yu said irritably.
"No! This is a scam!" Lin Lele strongly resisted.
Seeing this, Chen Yu shook his head and smiled wryly. After thinking for a moment, he said to Lin Lele, "If you can become a qualified F-35B fighter pilot within four months, I will personally reward you with 100 million US dollars."
Upon hearing this, Lin Lele counted on her fingers, and her eyes immediately lit up: "Really?"
“Of course, we can sign a performance-based agreement,” Chen Yu said calmly.
“Okay, it’s settled then!” Lin Lele immediately accepted Chen Yu’s proposal, as if all her concerns had vanished, and quickly signed all the agreements.
After signing the training contract and paying $28 million in training fees, Chen Yu pulled Sophia aside.
He proposed to her that Lin Lele undergo closed-door training, and transferred an additional $2 million to Sophia, to which Sophia readily agreed.
Then, Chen Yu returned to Lin Lele's side.
He was just about to tell her to stay here today to prepare for the training when Lin Lele spoke first: "President Chen, I know there are still some things to deal with at Tianyu Group. As your secretary, I should go back with you, but given that I have a performance-based agreement with you, time is of the essence for me right now. I'm sorry I can't accompany you back to China. Besides, this is considered official training, so you can't reduce my salary by a single penny, since the cost of living here is quite high."
“Uh…” Chen Yu was speechless.
Lin Lele didn't care what Chen Yu thought, and looked at Sophia again: "I've decided to live at the training base for the time being. I will not step out of the base until I become a qualified fighter pilot! Big Sister Sophia, is that okay?"
Sofia, of course, had no objection to this.
She had already accepted Chen Yu's money, so she originally had some reservations about this kind of unauthorized interference with other people's personal freedom.
But since Lin Lele took the initiative to bring it up, she no longer felt any burden.
