Chapter 23: Caught on a blind date

Cen Wan arrived at the restaurant on time.

Jiang Yuan was called back by the director to revise the script, so she was the only one who came.

At the table by the window, there was a man in a suit and tie sitting with his back to her. Judging from his back, he seemed not very tall.

She approached and asked tentatively, "Excuse me, is this Mr. Wu?"

The man turned around, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes the moment he saw her. He looked her up and down, stood up with a smile, and pulled out a stool for her like a gentleman.

"Ms. Cen, right? My name is Wu Anhao. Please take a seat."

Cen Wan nodded and sat down opposite him.

Wu Anhao pushed the menu over and said, "Ms. Cen, what would you like to eat?"

Cen Wan did not refuse and politely ordered the simplest set meal.

"Another order of pan-fried sole, baked snails, and Chateaubriand steak." Wu Anhao closed the menu. "Oh, and a dessert for the lady."

After ordering, Wu Anhao looked at Cen Wan with a smile, his gaze lingering on her: "Ms. Cen is even prettier in person than in the photo."

Cen Wan smiled and nodded, "Mr. Wu, you're too kind."

Although Wu Anhao had behaved very politely and gentlemanly so far, the way he looked at her always made her feel a little uncomfortable.

Wu Anhao was a handsome man. He pushed the water in front of Cen Wan and said sympathetically, "Don't be nervous, Miss Cen. Just think of it as friends meeting and having a chat and a meal."

The two exchanged some basic information. After the waiter served the dish, Wu Anhao cut the steak and pushed it in front of Cen Wan.

Cen Wan smiled and said thank you.

Wu Anhao held a knife and fork in his hand, and his eyes passed over her inch by inch as she lowered her head to eat.

Cen Wan was dressed simply today, wearing a pair of light-colored jeans and a white shirt, but it still looked good on her.

Wu Anhao's eyes moved from her slender neck, the curve of her chest, down along her slim waist and hips. He couldn't help swallowing, and a satisfied smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Cen Wan looked up as if she sensed something, and met his gaze, which had not yet been withdrawn. He smiled and said, "The food in this shop tastes good. Miss Cen, try some other dishes."

"Actually, I..."

He interrupted Cen Wan several times when she was about to speak.

"I know that Mr. Cen is discussing a project with my father recently. Even if Ms. Cen really can't accept it, she can wait until the project is won before rejecting me, right?"

"I really like Miss Cen, and I hope you can give me a chance. Let's get to know each other first."

Cen Wan moved her lips, but found that she didn't know what to say.

"I'm just afraid of wasting Mr. Wu's time."

Wu Anhao laughed and said, "I'm not afraid of wasting, so what are you afraid of?"

"Besides, you don't want to disappoint Uncle Cen so soon, right?"

Cen Wan was stunned. She wasn't afraid of disappointing Cen Baiqing, nor did she care about his attitude, but...

She looked up at Wu Anhao and said straight to the point: "I'm only here for a blind date because of my dad. I don't have any thoughts of developing a relationship for the time being."

Wu Anhao smiled and said, "I told you not to feel burdened. We can just let things take their course."

No matter what Cen Wan said, he had something to respond to, leaving her unable to refuse.

Cen Wan felt helpless.

After finishing their meal, as the two of them walked out of the restaurant, Wu Anhao took out his car keys and said, "Where do you live? I'll take you there."

Cen Wan: "No need, I can do it myself..."

"Ms. Cen?"

Before Cen Wan could finish her refusal, a soft female voice came from behind her.

She turned around and saw Jiang Yunlan walking towards them, and Shen Yixiao beside her.

When she met Shen Yixiao's inky black eyes, Cen Wan's heart trembled and she froze in place.

Jiang Yunlan looked at Wu Anhao beside her and joked with a smile: "Is this Miss Cen's boyfriend?"

Wu Anhao extended his hand towards Jiang Yunlan and said with a smile, "Not yet."

"Hello, I'm Wu Anhao."

Jiang Yunlan shook hands with him, looking as if he had suddenly realized something. "So it's a suitor. I was thinking Miss Cen is so beautiful, there must be a lot of men who like her. Don't you think so, Yixiao?"

Wu Anhao then looked at the man beside him. After recognizing it as Shen Yixiao, he extended his hand with a look of surprise: "So Mr. Shen is here too. Nice to meet you."

Shen Yixiao didn't even look at him. Wu Anhao's hand froze in the air, and he withdrew it awkwardly after a while.

Cen Wan didn't dare to look into Shen Yixiao's eyes again and looked down at the ground.

Shen Yixiao had deep eyebrows and eyes, and when he had a cold face and didn't smile, he gave people a strong sense of oppression. His narrow and sharp eyes just stared at Cen Wan with no expression.

Jiang Yunlan dug her nails deep into her palms, a hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes. She raised her head and said to Shen Yixiao with a smile: "Yixiao, let's go first and not disturb Miss Cen and the others."

Shen Yixiao didn't say anything. He took a step with his long legs, strode past Cen Wan, and walked straight out the door.

Jiang Yunlan nodded politely to the two of them before following them.

Wu Anhao watched the two disappear and asked, "Do you know Miss Jiang and Mr. Shen?"

Cen Wan: "The studio has a project that we're collaborating on with Xingchen, but we're just acquaintances, not close friends."

Wu Anhao nodded thoughtfully: "Well, I'll take you back first."

Cen Wan didn't want to argue with him anymore and got into his car.

On the other side, Shen Yixiao and Jiang Yunlan had just reached the parking lot when Shen Yixiao turned and looked at her: "Ask your agent to pick you up. I have something else to do, so I'll leave first."

After saying that, without waiting for her to react, he opened the driver's door and got in the car. The black Bentley turned around quickly, leaving her with only a blurry view of the rear end.

Jiang Yunlan stood there, clenching his fists with an unwilling look on his face.

Shen Yixiao actually still has feelings for Cen Wan!

She asked Sister Ni to check and found out that Shen Yixiao had actually had a passionate love affair with Cen Wan when he was in college, and he was the one who pursued Cen Wan first.
