Falling into His Summer

In her third year of high school, Yun Xiang was brought home by her father's comrade-in-arms, Cheng Xiao.

Cheng Xiao had a son, a proud and arrogant person who loved to look down on other...

Chapter 38 It’s Him, Don’t Be Jealous

Grandpa Cheng was coming to dinner on the weekend, so Yun Xiang finished her part-time job early and went home to help Hu Nan.

Cheng Xiao specially bought a silver carp and said he wanted to make boiled fish because Grandpa Cheng liked it.

The sky was turning pale, lights were on in every house, and thick smoke was rising from the chimneys. Yunxiang looked outside from time to time, looking forward to Grandpa Cheng's arrival.

Uncle Cheng said Grandpa Cheng was a stubborn old man who was stern and unsmiling. He was known in the compound for being difficult to please. But this was probably due to his military career.

"Grandpa Cheng, do you know that I live here?" Yun wanted to ask Cheng Xiao.

Cheng Xiao nodded, "Of course, I will definitely greet your family when I take you home. So think about it, you don't have to worry that your family will dislike you."

As he was speaking, Cheng Che was coming downstairs.

"Grandpa knows that she came to our house?" Cheng Che asked Cheng Xiao in surprise.

Cheng Xiao brought the cooked fish to the table, pinched his ear and said to Cheng Che, "Ah? Yes."

Cheng Che: "...Grandpa didn't say anything?"

"What can he say? He supports me." Cheng Xiao said lightly.

Cheng Che choked.

When he was a kid, he accidentally broke a neighbor's window while playing football. He was made to kneel outside for a whole day as punishment, and then he had to write a 500-word self-criticism letter and read it in front of everyone...

How could grandpa dare to support Cheng Xiao bringing his illegitimate daughter into the family, something that would bring disgrace to the family tradition?

As he was talking, the door outside was pushed open. Cheng Che looked over and saw that it was his grandfather.

Yun Xiang turned around quickly, still holding a plate, waiting to serve Hu Nan some food. The flower pot at the door blocked half of her view. Yun Xiang leaned forward and saw an elderly man in a Zhongshan suit walking towards her, carrying something in his hand.

His back was straight, his shoulders were thick, and the years had left no marks on his body, but only on his face.

Yun Xiang was stunned for a moment. This grandpa...why did she feel that he looked familiar?

"Dad, how did you get here?" Cheng Xiao went to meet him.

"Shared bicycles." The old man said with full energy.

Cheng Xiao scoffed, "I said I'd pick you up, but you didn't have to. Just come by bike."

"What do you know about low-carbon and environmental protection?" the old man cursed.

Yun Xiang couldn't help but sigh in his heart: How fierce.

"Think about it, come on." Cheng Xiao made a gesture to Yun Xiang.

Hu Nan nodded and took the plate from Yun Xiang. Yun Xiang walked out nervously. Cheng Zhenhua looked up from where he was sitting on the sofa.

Cheng Che sat at the dining table with his face propped up, as if everyone was in the situation, but he was the only one who was out of the situation, waiting to watch the show.

Before Cheng Xiao could introduce the two, Cheng Zhenhua asked in surprise, "It's you?"

Several people looked at Cheng Zhenhua, and Yun Xiang's eyes flashed with confusion. What?

Cheng Zhenhua slapped his thigh and stood up. His voice was filled with helplessness and excitement. "I knocked your phone over while waiting in line at the supermarket. It was you!"

Yun thought about it and remembered. No wonder she felt that the old man looked so familiar.

"It's you." Yun Xiang couldn't help but sigh that the world is so small.

Cheng Zhenhua laughed heartily. He later tried to find Yun Xiang and offer her compensation. However, after asking around, no one knew her and had any idea who the child belonged to. Unexpectedly, she was the girl Cheng Xiao wanted to take home!

Cheng Che was silent. He felt that things were going a little differently from what he expected.

"Is your cell phone repaired?" Cheng Zhenhua pointed to the sofa next to him and motioned Yun Xiang to sit down.

Yun Xiang nodded, "Yes."

Cheng Zhenhua looked Yun Xiang up and down, nodded, and exclaimed: "There is a shadow of your father."

Yun Xiang smiled. Whenever someone mentioned her father in front of her, she felt happy. This made her feel that her father was still in this world and no one had forgotten him.

"Why didn't you ask me for compensation that day? I later heard that it costs a lot of money to replace the screen of your mobile phone!" The old man sighed.

"Grandpa, I saw you dressed very... simply that day." Yun Xiang explained helplessly.

The old man smiled. He took off his Mao suit, revealing his worn army green shirt. "You saw all the holes in my clothes, so you thought I was struggling financially and you're embarrassed to ask me for compensation?"

Yunxiang looked at his clothes and nodded.

"Well, I'm used to wearing it and can't take off this military uniform. It's comfortable!" explained the old man.

Yun wanted to say, "Grandpa, you fooled me."

Cheng Zhenhua was inexplicably happy. He felt that he and this little girl had a good relationship. She was well-behaved and obedient, and he liked her very much.

As they were talking, Cheng Zhenhua felt like he had forgotten something. It wasn't until his eyes fell on Cheng Che sitting at the table that he realized she had forgotten Cheng Che.

"Why didn't you say hello when I came to your house?" he asked seriously.

Cheng Che: "..." Did he remember that there was someone else at home?

He started by complaining that he didn't say hello and didn't even give himself the chance?

"Dad, it's time to eat." Hu Nan came to the dining table with chopsticks and greeted him.

"Let's go, let's eat." The old man stood up and said warmly to Yun Xiang.

Yun Xiang inexplicably felt that his grandfather wasn't as fierce as the legend said. He was actually quite friendly to him.

Cheng Che finally saw his grandfather's true face. He was really polite to the little girl.

At the dinner table, Cheng Xiao kept picking up food for Cheng Zhenhua. Cheng Zhenhua was thinking about Yun Xiang and told her to eat more.

He still felt sorry for the little girl, who had lost her parents at such a young age and was now living under someone else's roof... Even if the Cheng family treated her well, she would not feel warm.

Cheng Che was about to pick up some spareribs when Cheng Zhenhua took them away and gave them to Yun Xiang. Cheng Che sighed, "Grandpa, you're too partial."
