Chapter 15 Recruiting Ning Hao

Huang Bo looked at Shen Fang: "Is the little girl coming?"

Shen Fang smiled and said, "Yeah, you came to visit me and also to see this weird uncle of yours."

Damn, that nickname is absolutely awful! It's ruined my image!!!

Huang Bo was speechless upon hearing this: "What weird uncle? This little girl is giving me random nicknames. Am I that weird? I'm very handsome, okay?"

Xing Aina chuckled: "It's alright now, but Huang Bo, the way you looked before was really a bit strange. Putting aside everything else, it made me uncomfortable just looking at you. Why did you have to try to be an artsy young man and get such long hair? To be honest, it was quite disgusting to look at."

Huang Bo fell into self-doubt. Am I weird? No way, everyone says I'm handsome. What kind of taste is that? Pshaw.

Shen Fang sipped his tea and looked at Ning Hao: "Brother Hao, actually I think that if you go and make that incense-themed movie now, you'll most likely lose money. What's popular now are blockbusters and commercial films. You shouldn't be thinking about how to make a meaningful movie. What you should do is become famous first. In our industry, only when you become famous can you rise to the top in one step. Then, people will naturally come to invest in your movie."

Ning Hao, munching on snacks, looked at Shen Fang and thought the young man's words made a lot of sense, even hitting the nail on the head. However, he had his own principles, and Shen Fang could only say, "What are you trying to prove? You'll know how tough it is once you've hit a wall. Why don't you hurry up and shoot your commercial films?!"

"The film 'Incense' is the story in my heart. Becoming famous is not that easy. I definitely need to make a couple of documentaries to practice first. As for becoming famous, that's not that easy either."

Shen Fang knew that Ning Hao had just graduated and was full of ambition. Since they had only just met, it wasn't appropriate to say too much. So, he changed his approach and began to win people over.

"Brother Hao, I think you could learn from Feng Xiaogang's comedies and add some dark humor. You like dialects so much, why don't you make some dialect comedies specifically? That kind of movie would be more interesting. As for art films, I don't know much about them, but Brother Hao, whenever you want to make a commercial film and you're short on money, just come to me and I'll make sure you get plenty."

Ning Hao nodded thoughtfully after listening.

The four of them were drinking tea and chatting when Xiao Ou returned with a basket of vegetables.

Huang Bo quickly stepped forward and took the groceries Xiao Ou had bought. There was fish, meat, small crabs, and other seafood.

"Hey, Xiao Ou, why did you buy so much seafood? Fang'er, you're in for a treat at noon. I'll cook you some hearty dishes myself."

Upon hearing this, Shen Fang teased, "Are you sure you can handle it?"

Huang Bo patted his chest: "Just you wait and see."

Xiao Ou wiped the sweat from her forehead: "It's really hot today. Xiao Bo is a great cook. Xiao Shen, try Xiao Bo's cooking for lunch."

Shen Fang nodded and looked at Huang Bo: "Then I'll try our Chef Huang's cooking."

Huang Bo took the small seafood to the tap and began to process it.

Shen Fang and Ning Hao chatted casually: "Brother Hao, haven't you done anything else since you graduated? Just making movies?"

Ning Hao immediately shook his head upon hearing this: "How could that be? If I just did this, what would I eat and drink?"

Shen Fang pointed at Huang Bo: "Didn't he say you were a rich second-generation?"

Xing Aina laughed upon hearing this, "Ning Hao's family does have some money, but he doesn't get along with his father, so he can't live as carefree as you. Ning Hao even shoots commercials for others and works as a photographer in his spare time."

Ning Hao pointed to the gold necklace around his neck: "See this? This is all the money I made. There are so many people shooting commercials these past two years. This industry is really lucrative. As long as you're willing to talk your way out of things and show some confidence, people will obediently hand over their money. I can earn almost 5,000 yuan per job, and if I'm lucky, I can earn tens of thousands. Even if the movie doesn't go through, I can still make a fortune with this."

Shen Fang nodded, "So that's how it is." It seems Ning Hao is doing quite well right now.

"Brother Hao, haven't you ever thought about making a TV series? Have you ever taken on a job like this before?"

Ning Hao shook his head: "Filming a TV series takes too long, and usually TV series are arranged by seniors. Who would want someone like me who is still a senior in college?"

Shen Fang smiled and said, "Haohe, I'm planning to cultivate my career in this industry. I'll start with a small project, beginning with TV dramas, and gradually build a foundation. If you're interested, come and help me out. I'm sure you won't regret it."

Xing Aina was intrigued by this. They were a scattered group looking for a place to settle down, and Shen Fang's words resonated with her. However, she was also worried that Shen Fang might be acting impulsively and without a clear sense of direction: "Shen Fang, running a media company isn't that simple. Aside from anything else, you need at least professional talent, a mature scriptwriting team, a director, a cinematographer, and partners. There's a lot to do."

Shen Fang smiled and said, "Sister Na, I've thought about all of this. I plan to spend a lot of money to recruit a large number of excellent novel screenwriters online. The core of a media company is the script. Plus, with my background from the Beijing Film Academy, I'll also try to recruit some of my seniors. Cinematographers, actors, and directors can all be recruited from the Beijing Film Academy's talent pool. We'll start with TV series, gradually establish ourselves, build our reputation, and then move on to the film industry..."

For the next 20 minutes, Shen Fang became more and more engrossed in his talk, becoming increasingly happy. He talked about movies, TV series, variety shows, IPs, IP development, the formation of IP universes, novels, games, animations, merchandise, theme towns, and a whole series of plans, leaving Ning Hao, Xing Aina, Huang Bo, and Xiao Ou listening in awe.
