Note that this book is a slow-burn novel, and it will become increasingly exciting as the story progresses.
It starts from 2002, beginning at the Beijing Film Academy, and starting with the H...
He woke up feeling as if his heart was on fire.
"Water, water!!!"
"Third Uncle, why did you drink so much? Goodness, you're drunk."
Shen Kun was resting on the sofa when he heard Shen Fang's call, so he quickly handed Shen Fang some water.
Chen Fang drank two cups of water in a row.
He shook his head.
"Damn, I'm drunk? Twelve girls were drinking with me, how could I not be drunk? What time is it?"
"It's almost 7 o'clock, and I was just about to wake you when you woke up."
Shen Fang got up and went to the bathroom, splashing cold water on her face. She instantly sobered up.
With my face covered in water droplets, I walked out of the bathroom.
"Let's go, we haven't eaten anything at noon, we're hungry."
Shen Fang and Shen Kun walked out of the room and into the garden. By then, it was gradually getting dark. Colorful lights were already hung in the villa, and Hong Kong artists were gathered in small groups, chatting and laughing loudly.
Shen Fang was somewhat flustered by the scene before him.
"Brother, you're awake! Let's have dinner then."
Cheng Long led Chen Fang to the main table, where Andy Lau, Tony Leung Ka-fai, Chow Yun-fat, Tsang Yi-ming, Jet Li, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Stephen Chow, Charles Heung, and an unfamiliar white-haired man with glasses sat. Next to them sat a sprightly old man in a blue shirt, and a few other people he didn't recognize.
"Brother, this is Mr. Zou, and this is Mr. He, my godfather."
Shen Fang was quite surprised to hear this: "Mr. Raymond Chow and Mr. Leonard Ho of Golden Harvest Films are both senior figures. My apologies for not respecting them." Shen Fang clasped his hands in a fist salute.
The white-haired, bright-eyed, and brainy man burst into laughter: "Young man, you have such a chivalrous air about you, you're really handsome."
The old man in the blue shirt smiled and said, "Brother Huai, young people love the martial world, didn't we do the same when we were young?"
"Brother, this is Charles Heung, Mr. Heung."
"Fifth Brother, we must have a drink since we just met."
Xiang Huaqiang smiled and said, "Mr. Shen, I heard from Ah Long today that a big shot from out of town has arrived. I was just about to go and toast you when he disappeared."
Shen Fang chuckled: "I drank too much at noon, and the beauties in Hong Kong were too enthusiastic."
Xiang Huaqiang laughed: "Aren't the beauties in Hong Kong pretty good, Mr. Shen? I've already warned the Ni family that they won't appear in front of you again while they're in Hong Kong."
Shen Fang glanced at Albert Yeung in surprise, and Albert Yeung smiled and nodded.
"Thank you very much, Fifth Brother."
It seems Emperor Entertainment and Win's Entertainment have a close relationship. But isn't that how all Hong Kong triads are? It's good that the head of Sun Yee On is here to smooth things over and avoid trouble.
"Hey, where's Brother Hong?"
Upon hearing Shen Fang's words, Cheng Long gave a wry smile. "Don't you understand why I can't see you?!"
"Fatty Hong got drunk at noon and got into a fight with some thugs, ending up in the hospital," Xiang Huaqiang said, a slight smile playing on his lips as he looked at Zhong Lingxuan.
"Oh, really? That's unfortunate. I was planning to have a couple of drinks with Brother Hong," Shen Fang said with a regretful expression.
Jackie Chan... Brother, you're wasting your talent if you weren't an actor.
The quick-witted Zeng Aizi and Xingzai, observing Shen Fang and Xiang Huaqiang's performance, sensed something amiss. Hong Pangzi's hospitalization was no small matter!
Zeng the Shorty grew increasingly alarmed. Good heavens, this guy really is a powerful outsider! He even dared to beat up Fatty Hong, and it seems he has someone cleaning up his messes. Just who is this guy?!
"Brother, this is Benny Chan, a well-known director in Hong Kong."
Shen Fang smiled and said, "Director Chen, I watched 'A Moment of Romance' every day when I was in middle school. It was really well made. Brother Hua, I heard you have 'Full Throttle' in your collection."
Andy Lau said with a smug look, "That's right, I treasure it. It's my most famous work."
"Brother Hua, can I ride it?"
Andy Lau shook his head: "No way, she's my treasure. More precious than my wife."
"Alright then, what a pity. Does Brother Hua sell the same model?"
“It’s no longer available on the market; it’s been discontinued for a long time. The Suzuki RG500 was discontinued back in 1998,” Chen Musheng explained.
Shen Fang nodded: "Then forget it, I'll just stick to driving my Porsche 911."
Wah-jai was speechless: "Mr. Chen, isn't a Porsche 911 enough?"
"It's alright, how about we switch, Brother Hua?"
Andy Lau shook his head: "I'm not exchanging it. I plan to keep it forever and pass it on to my son when he grows up."
Shen Fang... Brother Hua, you don't have a son...?
"Mr. Zou, it seems your output has decreased sharply in recent years." Shen Fang suddenly changed the subject and looked at Zou Wenhuai.
Upon hearing this, Raymond Chow looked distressed.
"Sigh, every film we make loses money. I don't know why Hong Kong films have been declining in the last two years. Young people these days don't like kung fu movies anymore; they prefer big-budget Hollywood blockbusters."
Shen Fang smiled and said, "Old Zou is so old, why don't you just retire? Wouldn't it be better to sell your company and enjoy your retirement?"
Upon hearing this, Ho Kwun-cheung's face turned cold: "Young man, what do you mean?"
"Godfather, don't be angry. That's not what I meant."
Zhou Wenhuai also stared intently at Shen Fang.
Shen Fang looked at He Guanchang with a smile.
"Mr. Zou, Mr. He, Hong Kong is too small. Although it was prosperous at one time, by 2000, mainland Chinese films had risen, and Hollywood was making a strong push. The only thing Hong Kong films could produce was martial arts films. Now, there's no younger generation to carry on the legacy. It's still relying on actors like Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, and Chow Yun-fat to keep it going. The decline of Hong Kong films is inevitable. The competition will only get fiercer in the future. Hong Kong films can't go international, and they can't afford big investments. A film can only cost tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars. What kind of future can it have? Times have changed."
