Note that this book is a slow-burn novel, and it will become increasingly exciting as the story progresses.
It starts from 2002, beginning at the Beijing Film Academy, and starting with the H...
Two hours later, when Shen Fang and Shen Kun's butts were aching from sitting, Ivanka and Zhukova finally returned.
Behind them were two men pushing carts loaded with all sorts of luxury goods: clothes, shoes, bags, and jewelry from Gucci, LV, Hermes, Fendi, and Dior.
Shen Fang was completely dumbfounded.
"Wow, you guys went to get some supplies."
Ivanka and Zhukova were a little embarrassed; they had gotten so carried away with their shopping spree that they couldn't stop and ended up spending over $1.2 million.
Ivanka moved closer to Shen Fang, rubbing her breasts against his arm, and said coquettishly, "Darling, you're not angry, are you?"
Shen Fang pinched Ivanka's little cheek.
"Why are you angry? As long as you're happy. Are you happy now?"
Ivanka nodded like a chick pecking at rice, overjoyed. The saying "a bag can cure all ills" applies to women all over the world.
Zhukova handed the Black Gold Centurion to Shen Fang. Shen Fang waved his hand.
"Keep it. There's a total of $5 million inside. Use it as pocket money."
Zhukova's eyes lit up, and she immediately stuffed the card into her bag. Although she wasn't short of money, what Shen Fang gave her was not the same as spending her own.
Ivanka glared at Zhukova: "Give it to me."
Zhukova stuck out her tongue: "No, my dear gave it to me."
"snort!!!"
Shen Fang laughed: "We're all good sisters, stop fooling around. Let's go have dinner if you're hungry. What should we do with all this stuff?" Shen Fang pointed to the two girls' shopping spoils.
Ivanka smiled and said, "Just send it to my house, hehe."
Shen Fang nodded.
Following Ivanka's directions, we arrived at Chef Guo, supposedly the most expensive Chinese restaurant in New York. It's known as a mini-state banquet.
The environment is characterized by traditional Chinese features, with red and yellow as the main colors, and features carved dragons and painted beams. The tables, chairs and benches are all in the style of Qing Dynasty architecture, and there is also a row of chime bells in the middle of the hall.
I don't know if it tastes good, but the decor is really interesting. I've never seen anything like it in China.
James Wan had been waiting for a long time. When Ivanka saw James Wan, she waved and the group walked over.
This was the first time Shen Fang had met this genius director. To be honest, he looked unremarkable and was quite skinny.
"Hello, Wen Ziren."
Shen Fang extended his right hand and smiled at Wen Ziren. Wen Ziren quickly shook hands with Shen Fang, and couldn't help but sigh, "Boss, you're so handsome, and so young." Especially when he saw Ivanka and Zhukova each with their arms around Shen Fang's shoulders.
As a man, Wen Ziren naturally admired his two stunningly beautiful general managers, but he knew very well that their status was beyond the reach of someone like him. He could only dream about it.
Top-tier heiresses, sexy beauties, all so intimate with their boss. Envy, jealousy, but no hatred. These are his cash cows. He was just drifting through life in obscurity, and suddenly he was chosen to be a director. Although it was a small production, it was a three-level jump from assistant director, something Wan Ziren could hardly imagine. It was like a dream.
"Thank you, boss, for giving me this opportunity."
Shen Fang waved his hand: "Let's talk while sitting down."
The group sat down, and Zhukova opened the menu, asking as she looked at it, "Honey, what would you like to eat?"
"Whatever, you guys decide. I don't know much about Chinese restaurants in America. I'll just order a soup."
Shen Fang handed Wen Ziren a cigarette.
Do you smoke?
Wen Ziren quickly took it: "Hua Zi!"
Shen Fang laughed: "You know him?"
James Wan nodded: "Boss, my mother is from Beijing. I've smoked this cigarette before, and it's much better than Marlboro."
"That's true, Marlboro cigarettes have too strong a smell and too much tar."
"I'll call you Lao Wen. Xiao Kun, bring the script over."
Shen Kun took out a large stack of A4 top-sized papers from his bag and handed them to Wen Ziren, who quickly took them.
The five scripts that came into view were: The Human Purge, John Wick, The Karate Kid, Paranormal Activity, and Split.
These films are all exemplary examples of achieving big results with small budgets.
Aside from *The Karate Kid*, Shen Fang intends to have James Wan direct the other four scripts, aiming to mold him into a new generation of horror and action directors. Furthermore, the *Fast & Furious* series and the *Purge* series are both expected to be hugely successful.
The Purge – with a budget of $3 million, it grossed $89.32 million at the box office. The film ultimately earned nearly 30 times its initial investment.
Split – With a budget of $9 million, the film ultimately grossed $278 million at the box office.
Paranormal Activity – A $15,000 investment! This film uses a found-footage style, filmed with cameras inside rooms, and the scenes are limited to inside houses. Director Oren Peli handled everything himself: cinematography, screenwriting, costumes, editing, and set design…
So how much did this movie gross? $193 million! The box office revenue was several times the budget! This is equivalent to buying something for one dollar and then selling it for 12,867 dollars. Such a return on investment can only be described as pure luck. It's basically like winning the lottery with a movie ticket.
John Wick needs no introduction; it's a classic action movie, all about killing. With a budget of $20 million, it raked in a total of $90 million at the box office. The sequels, John Wick 2 and 3, grossed $174 million and $369 million respectively, making them huge profits.
