Chapter 2303 Meeting an Old Friend

Shu Yu entered the manor and found that it seemed to have changed, as if it had been renovated and looked much better now.

"Ayu?" Shu Yu was looking her over when a familiar voice came from behind her.

When she turned around, she saw Aunt Fang still wearing her apron and hadn't even put down the rolling pin in her hand.

"Really? Is it really you? I thought I misheard." Aunt Fang rushed up to her in a few quick steps. "When did you get here? What are you doing in Zhengdao Village?"

"It's a long story. I came here on some business and just happened to come and see you. How have you been lately, Auntie? Has Xiyue's baby been born yet?" Shu Yu and Fang Xiyue had been corresponding. When Shu Yu received the last letter, she mentioned that she was pregnant. Counting the days, the baby should be about three or four months old now.

"Good, good, good, thanks to you, everyone is doing well. A-Yue gave birth, a boy, who looks just like Ma Lu." Aunt Fang looked Shu Yu up and down. "You've become more and more beautiful over the years. By the way, A-Yue received your wedding invitation, you're married, right?"

Shu Yu then introduced Meng Yunzheng to him, saying, "Yes, this is my husband."

Aunt Fang's eyes lit up when she saw him. This young man was so handsome. Standing next to Shu Yu, they were truly a perfect match.

I heard he's a scholar; I wonder if he took the imperial examination this year, and how he did.

Aunt Fang wasn't familiar with Meng Yunzheng, so she didn't ask too many questions and just gave him a polite greeting.

Then she looked at Zhao Xi behind her. A few years ago, he lived in the village as Shu Yu's older brother and even healed Fang's father's injury. The Fang family was very grateful to him.

Later, when Shu Yu returned to Dong'an Prefecture and wrote back, she explained that this Young Master Zhao was not her elder brother, but only stayed there to help take care of his family. He was now her brother-in-law.

"Your subordinate greets the Lady of Wen'an County." As everyone was exchanging pleasantries, an unfamiliar voice came from behind.

As the group turned around, they saw a slightly thin man standing behind them, bowing to Shu Yu with his hands clasped in greeting.

Aunt Fang suddenly slapped her forehead. Oh right, she had forgotten that Ayu was now a county princess.

She hurriedly tried to follow suit and bow, but Shu Yu stopped her by the side and simply said, "No need for formalities."

Steward Yu straightened up, a puzzled look on his face. "I wonder if the County Princess has come from afar on some important matter. If there is anything you need my help with, please feel free to give the order."

"I have some personal matters to attend to here. I'm just visiting an old friend in Zhengdao Village. Manager Yu, please don't worry about me. However, I'm afraid I'll have to stay at the manor tonight."

Steward Yu smiled and said, "I see. Please, Your Highness, stay here. I'll have someone prepare a few rooms right away."

After saying that, he looked at Aunt Fang and continued with a smile, "Since the county princess has come to catch up with old friends, then I won't bother you any longer. Please make yourself at home, county princess."

"Um."

Shu Yu nodded, and Manager Yu left, telling Aunt Fang before he left that he would give her a day off.

Aunt Fang was overjoyed. She put her apron and rolling pin back into the kitchen and then ran out again. "Ayu, come sit at our house. Yue is home. She'll be so happy to see you."

"OK."

The group left the village and followed Aunt Fang toward the Fang family home.

The carriage will remain at the estate for the time being, and someone will be asked to watch over it.
