Chapter 3: What do people do?

Xiao Shu had thought the same way before. She wanted her mother's approval and always tried her best to be obedient, never crying or making a fuss. However, it was all in vain. Aunt Xue only grew to hate her more and more, not only beating and scolding her, but also verbally abusing her in a way that was even more hurtful.
