Chapter 396 Things I've Never Seen Before

Old Yuan was overjoyed and jumped up, showing no signs of fatigue.

Upon hearing this possibility, Old Yuan perked up immediately. "Go get a rock, let's smash it open and see."

Yuan's wife hurriedly went to find a stone and handed it over.

The lock wasn't very sturdy. Old Yuan found the right angle and smashed it open in one go. The sound wasn't loud either; he figured even Aunt Yao from next door wouldn't hear it.

After breaking the lock, Boss Yuan couldn't wait to open the box and take out its contents.

"This is packaged quite well," said Boss Yuan as he opened the cloth bag inside the box.

The cloth bag was wrapped in several layers of oil paper, making it look very important.

The two men, Yuan and his companion, became even more excited. However, after unwrapping the layers of oil paper, their expressions suddenly froze.

"What, what is this?"

The moonlight was bright. The two sat in the courtyard, looking at the things in their hands by the moonlight, their brows furrowed.

Yuan's wife picked up the package wrapped in oil paper, looked at it from left to right, and after a long while said, "I've never seen this before."

"That guy must have fooled you. What the hell was that? I thought it was gold and silver. After all that work, all I dug up was this." Old Yuan was so angry he almost threw what he was holding away.

Fortunately, he still had his senses; he raised his hand but immediately pulled it back.

Yuan's wife shrank back and asked in a low voice, "Then, what should we do with this? We don't recognize it and don't know what it's for."

Old Yuan was a little annoyed. He looked at the things in his hand, then at the yard where he had dug two holes after digging for a long time. He took a deep breath and said, "Take it back. I'll take it to the county town another day and see if anyone recognizes it. Maybe I can sell it."

Mrs. Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. "Shall we go back?"

"Um."

"What are we going to do with this yard?" There are two big holes.

Old Yuan wasn't in the mood to fill it out. He waved his hand and said, "I'll come back and fill it out tomorrow. Anyway, this yard is ours now, and I have the key. Nobody can come in."

As they talked, the two picked up the shovel and the box and quietly left.

After they locked the courtyard gate and their footsteps faded into the distance, Shu Yu and Da Niu came out.

The two looked around the large hole from which the box had been dug out, and after a while, Shu Yu's gaze suddenly stopped.
