The dynasty collapsed, and Chang Lǐlí, who was once a princess, was cast out. She didn't control her eyes and saw something she shouldn't have. The scheming man threatened her coldly, ...
A night breeze blew, causing the carriage curtains to sway and occasionally reveal a small gap through which one could see a crowd of people gathered under the hazy moonlight outside the carriage.
The guard moved erratically through the crowd, while one by one, people dressed in black fell down, their flesh pierced, without even a chance to scream.
Chang Lili's heart pounded wildly. Through the gap, she could vaguely see the men in black rushing toward the carriage, only to be intercepted and killed halfway there.
There were simply too many men in black, and the guard was probably overwhelmed. One of the men in black was about to reach out and lift the carriage curtain when he suddenly stopped. His head rolled off his body, blood gushed out like a fountain, and his body fell straight down.
Chang Lili stared wide-eyed in horror, but covered her mouth.
She finally understood what it meant to be ruthless and taciturn. Meng Yuxiu was surrounded by people who could take on a hundred men each!
Although there were many men in black, the guards killed one for every one who came, and two for every two. In a short while, the ground was littered with corpses. There were still many men in black left, but they all held their knives and dared not move forward.
The guard stood in the center of the corpse, like a god of death.
Suddenly, his straight body swayed, and one leg seemed to lose its strength, causing him to collapse to his knees.
Chang Lili heard his murderous voice roar, "Who! You're attacking from the shadows!"
She hurriedly lifted the carriage curtain and saw the guard's body tremble violently again, and his other leg bent uncontrollably.
The man who had been so intimidating just moments before was now kneeling on the ground in a sorry state, and the men in black, seeing this, boldly moved closer to him.
The men in black took a few steps forward and, seeing that the guards were struggling to stand, became arrogant and strode forward.
Suddenly, a whooshing sound whistled past the guards' ears. The man in black at the front was clutching his neck, an arrow protruding from between his fingers, blood gushing out. He whimpered in pain a few times before finally convulsing.
The men in black were so frightened that they stopped in their tracks and dared not approach. On the carriage, a slender and beautiful girl stood with the night wind ruffling her hair. She held a powerful crossbow and aimed it at the men in black.
Those clear, bright eyes, like a deer's, were sharp and filled with murderous intent.
"Anyone who dares to step forward will be the next one to be shot!" Despite her petite frame, she possessed an aura that overwhelmed all others.
She jumped off the carriage, but her hand holding the crossbow remained steady, the arrow ready to be released.
"Miss, you go first, don't worry about me," the guard said in a low voice, his voice urgent.
Without saying a word, Chang Lili came over to help the guard up and whispered, "Get up quickly, let's go together."
Knowing that further discussion would only waste time, the guard struggled to stand up, leaning against Chang Lili.
Suddenly, the guard turned around abruptly, a flash of sword light appeared, and a sharp sound rang out. Only then did Chang Lili see that a man in black had somehow circled around behind them, attempting to strike with his sword.
Despite his injured legs, the guard's arm strength remained undiminished. He met the attack head-on, forcing the man in black to retreat several steps.
But under this blow, the guard's legs could not support his body, and Chang Lili then saw that under the pale moonlight, the guard knelt down, and blood gushed from his knees.
"You..." She frowned, but before she could utter a word, a gleaming knife was placed against the guard's neck.
Chang Lili grabbed the guard's arm with one hand and pointed the crossbow at the man in black with the other.
But at this moment, the men in black approached, and they were surrounded, with no chance of escape.
While powerful crossbows can kill enemies, they cannot be used to defeat a hundred enemies.
"Come with us, or I'll kill him!" The man in black saw that Chang Lili wanted to save the guard, so he came up with this despicable plan.
Chang Lili seems to be a tough nut to crack; only this method can make her obediently surrender.
The guard's forehead was covered in sweat, and a gleaming longsword was held across his neck. He was only able to stay upright by using his sword for support.
"Girl, don't worry about me," he said through gritted teeth.
Chang Lili readily agreed, thinking that saving the guard's life was better than risking a fight to the death.
"Fine, let him go, and I'll go with you. Do you mean what you say?" she asked suspiciously.
The man in black immediately said happily, "Don't worry, as long as you behave, we swear we'll release him, or we'll be struck by lightning!"
Upon hearing this, the man in black clearly expressed his dissatisfaction.
Chang Lili felt a little uneasy: "It seems your companions don't trust you much, how can you expect me to trust you?"
The man in black replied, "Don't worry, if I break my word, my companions will be the first to come after me, without you even having to tell me."
Chang Lili actually felt that what he said made some sense. The guard's knees were bleeding more and more, and his face was turning pale, but he still stubbornly said, "Miss..."
“Okay, put the sword down,” Chang Lili said readily.
"Put the crossbow down."
"Put down your sword."
After a standoff, the man in black, seeing Chang Lili's resolute attitude, had no choice but to give in and slowly put down his sword. Chang Lili also complied and put down her weapon.
But as soon as she put it down, the ** was taken away, leaving her powerless.
Soon, Chang Lili was tied up and stuffed into a carriage, where she was driven away by several men in black.
The guard's eyes gleamed with the fury of a wild beast, but no matter what he did, he couldn't stand up.
A night breeze blew in gusts, growing increasingly chilly.
In the dead of night, the guard knelt there, sword in one hand, supporting his body, amidst a pile of corpses, waiting for the blood to drain away.
