Deep affection
When his impulse was satisfied and his heart returned to calm, Cang Ze calmed down from his agitation. He turned around and saw Mu He lying next to him. For a moment, he thought he was seeing things and felt a little disappointed. But soon he was fully awake from the dream.
He knew he and his daughter were destined to be apart in this life, and this woman was the one he was going to marry. He then put on a doting smile.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it," he said softly, gently tucking Muhe's messy hair behind her ear.
Mu He turned her head away, covering her face with her hands with a shy expression, and said bashfully:
"Brother Cangze, you don't think I'm a frivolous person, do you?"
"How could that be? We're getting married tomorrow, and I can't help myself," Cang Ze said gently, lightly brushing Mu He's hand away and stroking her face.
"Muhe, I love you," Cangze said, looking deeply into Muhe's eyes.
"You're naughty!" Mu He said with a shy smile, pushing Cang Ze's hand away and sitting up.
"It's getting late, I have to get back before dawn," she said, lowering her head, and started dressing herself.
Cang Ze also sat up, slowly hugged her from behind, and gently rubbed his face against her shoulder.
"It's better to go back early, otherwise I'm afraid it will damage your reputation. I'm sorry," Cang Ze said apologetically.
Muhe untied his hands, turned around, and playfully kissed him lightly on the cheek, saying:
"Then you must treat me extremely well from now on!"
"From now on, you are my life," Cang Ze said affectionately, lowering his eyes to kiss her lips again.
Muhe pushed him away.
"It's too late!" she said, blushing, and hurriedly broke free from his embrace and ran away.
Cang Ze put on his clothes and walked to the door. With a simple gesture, a dark figure landed beside him.
"Have someone send her the abortion pills, but don't let her find out," Cang Ze said in a low voice.
His gaze was cold and ruthless in the darkness.
“Yes,” the shadowy figure replied.
"Have someone change all the bedding in the room and re-scent it with aromatherapy," Cang Ze said, glancing at the room with a look of disgust.
"Yes," the man replied in a low voice.
Cang Ze then returned to his room. A moment later, two maids came and remade the bed and re-foamed it with incense. The strong fragrance gradually calmed him down, as Xiao Xia disliked the smell of blood the most.
Cui Heng arrived before dawn, and his dark pupils looked even more profound in the dim light.
"Where is Xiaoxia?" Cangze asked, sitting in his chair with his head down, looking at the documents without looking up.
“He’s dead,” Cui Heng said.
Cang Ze suddenly stopped, his bloodshot eyes wide as he looked up at Cui Heng, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
"How...how could this be?" he said in disbelief, his heart racing.
Since he escaped from Xiaxia, his heart had never been at peace. He had a bad feeling, but he denied it. As long as he lived, she would not die.
“She jumped into the River of Oblivion, and the Gu died,” Cui Heng said calmly.
His face was almost expressionless; he seemed to be mechanically reciting those words.
Cang Ze suddenly stood up, but his legs gave way and he fell heavily back into the chair, completely lost in thought, staring blankly into the empty air.
She jumped into the River of Oblivion, where all souls unable to be reincarnated gather. How could a mere mortal withstand such heavy resentment?
"Then, where is she?" Cang Ze asked, his eyes vacant.
He now has only one thought left: to see the person alive or dead.
"Wu Huan, I want the Soul-Suppressing Cauldron," Cui Heng said calmly.
Before leaving, he left Xiaoxia only enough Soul-Guiding Candle for seven days, and it would also take seven days to refine the Soul-Guiding Candle using the Soul-Suppressing Cauldron, so he had to hurry.
Cang Ze suddenly looked up into Cui Heng's eyes. Those eyes had never lied to him before, but now they were so cold that they seemed to have become distant from him. He suddenly remembered the night he was assassinated by Xiao Xia. As soon as Cui Heng entered the room, he went straight to Xiao Xia. He also called her Xiao Xia.
"Where is Xiaoxia?" Cangze asked again.
He suddenly realized that Xiao Xia was not dead, but had been seriously injured and hidden away by Cui Heng.
"Wu Huan, where are you keeping that guy called 'Bad Man'?" Cui Heng ignored him and continued to ask with his head down.
The Soul-Suppressing Cauldron was part of Mu He's dowry, and he truly didn't know where this villain was being held.
“Brother, he is the real Cang Ze,” Cang Ze said, his eyes still fixed on Cui Heng.
Qiong Cang was killed by Cui Heng back then, so how can his son Cui Heng let the tiger return to the mountain now?
Cui Heng was indeed taken aback for a moment, but his gaze quickly returned to its indifferent state.
Nothing is more important than my life.
“There will never be another Cang Ze in this world but you. I want him,” Cui Heng insisted.
Cang Ze stared at Cui Heng in silence for a moment. He had lost Xiao Xia, was his elder brother also going to leave him?
"In the dungeon," Cang Ze finally conceded.
He wasn't actually afraid of the Bad Guys escaping. He had a century-old foundation in the Ghost Realm, and even if his true identity were revealed, it wouldn't shake his position among the Ghost Clan.
Cui Heng nodded and was about to leave when Cang Ze stood up and grabbed Cui Heng's arm, refusing to let go.
"Where is Xiaoxia?" Cangze pleaded.
"He's dead," Cui Heng still said.
"Where is she? I want to see her alive or dead!" Cang Ze said, still holding onto Cui Heng tightly.
"If you don't want her soul to be scattered, then let me go," Cui Heng said calmly.
Cang Ze's hand immediately went limp and he lost his strength; it seemed that Xiao Xia was truly dead.
Cui Heng said no more, pulled back his sleeves, pushed open the door and left.
Cang Ze stood at the door with a cold face and raised his hand, causing the dark shadow to fall again.
"Go and kill the people he took away," Cang Ze ordered in a low voice.
"Yes!" the dark figure replied and quickly left.
Cui Heng headed straight for the dungeon, and no one dared to stop him along the way. Only when he saw the bound Bad Guy inside the dungeon did he throw his hand and free him from the rack.
The iron chain snapped, and the bad guy's legs gave way, causing him to collapse to the ground, covered in mud. He struggled to his feet and looked at Cui Heng with an indifferent expression.
"Why did you save me, sir?" the rogue asked breathlessly, raising his face and spitting out a mouthful of muddy water onto the ground.
His body was covered in wounds, his hair was matted from years of dirt and grime, and now he was covered in mud, his face so dirty that his original features were unrecognizable.
“It was Wangyue who asked me to take you away,” Cui Heng replied indifferently.
He was dressed in dark blue demon race clothing, with black hair and pupils. He stood next to Cang Ze's chair, patiently waiting for the Bad Guys to walk or crawl over on their own, refusing to take another step into the mud.
Hearing that it was a rogue sent by Wang Yue, he felt relieved. Fortunately, his cultivation was deep enough that he was able to get up from the ground and stagger towards Cui Heng after only a short while.
"I've been in Wangyue Pavilion for decades, but I never knew that Wangyue had such a powerful friend as you," the Bad Guy said with a wicked smile as he walked.
The thought that Wu Huan wanted to kill him but couldn't made him feel exceptionally good.
Cui Heng didn't explain, turned around and walked sullenly toward the exit, with the Bad Guys following closely behind him.
"However, does Your Excellency know anything about Wang Xiaoxia, who works with me at Wangyue Pavilion?" the Bad Guy pressed on, his mind still preoccupied with Wang Xiaoxia.
He realized it had been some time since he had been separated from Xiaoxia. He had been imprisoned in the dungeon and tortured every day, and he didn't know where Xiaoxia had gone or how she was doing. Where had she gone after injuring Cangze?
Cui Heng remained silent with a stern face. He disliked talking to people, especially strangers.
Seeing his sullen demeanor, the Bad Guys decided not to press him further, thinking it a waste of breath. Only when they were about to leave the Ghost King's Palace did they realize that no one had stopped them on their way through this vast palace.
"Who are you? Why did no one stop you in the Ghost King's Palace?" the Bad Guy asked, looking at him with some suspicion.
Cui Heng suddenly stopped, and the Bad Guy almost bumped into him. The Bad Guy came to his senses and immediately looked around warily.
"Come out!" Cui Heng suddenly said to the air.
He had long suspected that someone was following them, and he knew without a doubt that it was an assassin sent by Cang Ze, but he couldn't let anyone kill the Bad Guys right now.
The air remained still.
Before the villains could react, Cui Heng flicked his hand behind him, sending a dark shadow flying that landed lightly on the ground.
The Bad Guys immediately recognized the dark figure as a bodyguard of the Ghost King. Each Ghost King had a dozen to several dozen bodyguards around him. Some of these bodyguards were simply responsible for killing, some were responsible for doing dirty things, and some were responsible for delivering messages. They each had their own duties, but they only obeyed the orders of the Ghost King.
This assassin was carrying a curved sword, presumably there to kill them, or perhaps, just to kill his gang of scoundrels.
"Your Highness, I'm sorry!" The dark figure chuckled at Cui Heng and then charged straight at the Bad Guys with his curved sword.
The villain immediately turned and dodged, causing the dark figure to miss its target. The figure then turned and lunged at the villain again, but Cui Heng stood firmly to the side and easily deflected the attack. The dark figure took two steps back and then leaped forward again. Cui Heng did not dodge but seized the opportunity to grab the hand holding the curved knife. He then turned to the side and slashed the curved knife towards the dark figure's throat. Blood gushed out and stained Cui Heng's clothes red.
The dark figure lay limply on the ground and vanished in a wisp of black smoke.
The assassins are practitioners of evil arts from a young age, and even when they die, they leave no corpse behind.
Cui Heng frowned, flicked his sleeves with some disdain, and used his magic to clean them.
"Really!" he muttered to himself, then looked himself over again, and only relaxed his brow when he was sure there was no dirt left.
Seeing Cui Heng's appearance, the Bad Guys felt a little guilty and looked at themselves, who looked like beggars. They couldn't help but shake themselves and change into a clean appearance.
"Little monster, you're pretty amazing! What's your name?" Bad Guy asked with a grin as he followed behind Cui Heng.
After all, this person had saved her twice. Wang Yue's thousand-year-old madam life had not been in vain, as she had managed to befriend such a powerful figure.
