"My lady! Slow down, why don't you wait for your husband?" The bad guy caught up and pulled Wang Xiaoxia into his arms, teasing her with a wicked grin on his face.
Wang Xiaoxia was not angry about this, nor did she ever take his address to heart.
"You knew him a long time ago?" she questioned coldly, angered that the villains had kept this a secret from her.
"Yes, isn't the lady and he an old acquaintance?" the Bad Guy asked unhurriedly.
Wang Xiaoxia was speechless for a moment. Unable to deny it, she turned and asked in a low voice:
Whose name is Wu Huan?
"His," the bad guy replied.
"What is your real name?" Wang Xiaoxia asked again.
“The Bad Guys!” the Bad Guys said, still wearing a playful grin.
Wang Xiaoxia immediately glared at him, and wanted to continue arguing, but was stopped by the bad guy with his finger.
"My lady, stand still and don't move," the Bad Guy whispered in Wang Xiaoxia's ear.
In just a moment, countless arrows came whistling towards them from all directions. The Bad Guys flicked their sleeves and waved them, and the arrows fell to the ground in unison.
Wang Xiaoxia obediently squatted on the ground, covering her head, and shuffled step by step toward the edge of the bushes. As a mere mortal, her survival was of course the most important thing at this moment!
Those people were clearly heading for the Bad Guys. As soon as the arrows fell, more than a dozen dark figures flew towards the Bad Guys, their swords flashing with a chilling light as they ruthlessly slashed at them.
When Wang Xiaoxia and her companions entered the Ghost King's Palace, they had already been searched, and neither she nor the Bad People had any weapons in their hands.
The Bad Guys fought the sword shadows with their bare hands, and even all of them combined were no match for them. After a few rounds, the Bad Guys used the stolen sword to beat the swordsmen to a pulp, and then they turned into wisps of black smoke and disappeared.
The so-called ghost is the soul, and when a little ghost dies, it is nothing more than a wisp of black smoke.
"A petty trick!" the Bad Guy scoffed.
Just as he was feeling smug, a faint flute melody drifted from afar. Ancient memories, carried by the flute, flooded the Bad Guy's mind, lingering there. The stench of mud mixed with blood spread through his mouth, and his breathing became heavy. It was as if those long-buried past events had come back to him all over again, causing him to clutch his head in agony, curl up on the ground, and tremble all over. Before long, his entire face turned bright red.
Taking advantage of the opening, a dark figure raised a sword and slashed. The villains had already lost the ability to resist and could only let themselves be slaughtered.
Before Wang Xiaoxia could even think, he rushed in front of the Bad Guy and took the sword for him with his own back. The smell of blood exploded in the air, and a stream of cool blood flowed down Wang Xiaoxia's cold body and into the Bad Guy's robe.
If there is anyone in this world who can understand the pain of being tormented by the past in a villain, that person must be Wang Xiaoxia.
Wang Xiaoxia simply covered the bad guy's ears with both hands, enduring the pain as she whispered in his ear:
"Don't listen!"
The strong stench of blood filled the Bad Guy's nostrils, dispelling the foul smell deep in his memory. He came to his senses and turned around, only to have the dark figure vanish in a single sword stroke.
Not far away, Cang Ze put down his flute, gave a cold laugh, and turned to leave.
"How are you!" the Bad Guy asked Wang Xiaoxia anxiously.
Wang Xiaoxia felt a sharp pain in her back, but seeing that the Bad Guys were alright, she looked relaxed and even smiled foolishly.
"I don't know what's wrong with my body, but I'm not dying," Wang Xiaoxia said proudly, despite grimacing in pain.
Now that she has no magic powers, her immortality has actually come in handy, and she is actually happy to realize that she is not so useless.
In this world, apart from parents, no one has ever risked their life to protect bad people. Looking into those clear eyes that were looking at him, he felt a pang of heartache.
He reached out and pulled Wang Xiaoxia into his arms, holding her tightly, and gently wiped away the long wound on her back with his magic.
Wang Xiaoxia immediately felt the pain in her back lessen, and she felt much more relaxed.
"Was there anything strange about that flute music just now?" Wang Xiaoxia asked, puzzled.
The flute music had no effect on her when it came, yet it rendered such a powerful rogue temporarily unable to resist; it must have been no ordinary flute music.
"Ah! That's an ancient technique. The most painful memory of my life is filled with this flute music. I was accidentally reminded of that memory. Thank you for just now!" The Bad Guy said, still holding Wang Xiaoxia tightly.
Even now, the villain still feels lingering fear. If it weren't for Wang Xiaoxia's desperate rescue, he might have really been in grave danger.
"Then why am I alright?" Wang Xiaoxia couldn't help but ask. She moved slightly and felt that her back was no longer in pain.
"Because you don't have magic power, your hearing will inevitably be a little dull," the bad guy explained gently.
"Oh, you're hugging too tightly," Wang Xiaoxia gently patted the back of the Bad Guy and reminded him.
After all, men and women shouldn't be too close, and it's not appropriate to keep hugging like that all the time.
"My real name has been taken away, but there is a name that no one else knows. From now on, you can call me Sichen!" the Bad Guy whispered in Wang Xiaoxia's ear.
After he finished speaking, he released Wang Xiaoxia and looked at her with a gentle expression.
Sichen was the name given to him by Siye's mother. After his adoptive mother died, his father changed his name to Cangze.
Wang Xiaoxia then freed her hand to touch the wound on her back, and to her surprise, it was completely healed! She smiled happily.
"You're really amazing!" she exclaimed.
But the bad guy looked at her with a doting smile.
“Sichen, my mother’s maiden name is Siye, and your name is Sichen. These names sound like siblings!” Wang Xiaoxia muttered to herself.
This was the first time she had mentioned her mother's name in front of others. Having gone through life and death together, Wang Xiaoxia was no longer so wary of the Bad People.
The man smiled but didn't reply.
The nights in the ghost realm are always gloomy. Wang Xiaoxia has never had a good night's sleep, always drifting in and out of sleep. When she woke up again, the Bad Guys were nowhere to be seen by the window.
She sat up alertly and listened carefully. Noticing some noise outside the door, she tiptoed towards the sound.
In the cramped courtyard, two dark figures stood facing each other; they were the Bad Guys and Cang Ze.
"I never expected you to escape from that hell," Cang Ze said coldly. In the darkness, the corners of his mouth curved slightly upwards as if he were smiling, but his eyes revealed a chilling aura.
"It's really thanks to you that I'm no longer afraid of poison," the Bad Guy said to Wang Xiaoxia with his back to him, his tone still carrying a faint sarcasm as always.
"Cang Ze, you shouldn't have come back," Cang Ze said.
"Cangze, it's been a long time since anyone called me that. So what should I call you, Wuhuan?" the Bad Guy said with a cold snort, his tone carrying his usual nonchalance.
"I have held the position of Ghost King for many years, and my power is deeply entrenched. Do you think your return can change anything?" Cang Ze shouted sharply, glancing at the Bad Guys with some contempt.
“You shouldn’t have come back. Considering you saved my life back then, I won’t kill you today,” Cang Ze said again, his head still tilted back, adopting a condescending posture.
"You know I've never cared about the title of Ghost King, but you shouldn't have killed my father, nor my adoptive father!" The Bad Guy's tone turned fierce as he spoke.
"Do you know that their supreme position was taken from my father! Didn't my father and brothers lose their lives at their hands?" Cang Ze stared at the Bad Guys without fear and said, finally able to pour out the words that had been weighing on his heart for so many years.
The bad guy stared wide-eyed, clearly stunned for a moment.
"You are Xuanming's son?" the Bad Guys said with some surprise.
Years ago, Wu Huan was seriously injured and nearly died. It was the Bad People who rescued him and took him home. His father took pity on him and adopted him as his son, and taught him all his knowledge. Little did he know that he was Xuan Ming's son.
"Do you know that your father's tyranny will be overthrown sooner or later?" the Bad Guy continued.
"You can say that now that you've conquered the world," Cang Ze said coldly.
Back then, when Chongli and Qiongcang were on the verge of defeat, his father and brother died in battle. It was his father's confidant who sacrificed his own son's life to save him. His mother protected him as he fled the capital. After escaping the capital, he suffered all kinds of hardships. Now, is he going to tell him that all of this is what he deserves?
"What about Si Ye? She's completely innocent!" the Bad Guy immediately questioned again.
When Si Ye was mentioned, Cang Ze's gaze began to dart away. If he had ever truly wronged anyone in his life, it would be Wang Xiaoxia.
"She only has herself to blame for recognizing that I am not you," Cang Ze said in a low voice.
Perhaps because her mother's name was mentioned, Wang Xiaoxia's body went limp, and her fingers slid across the wooden door panel, making a slight creaking sound. By the time she realized what was happening, it was too late.
"Who!" Cang Ze shouted sharply and warily.
Wang Xiaoxia knew she couldn't escape tonight. Given Cang Ze's cold-blooded nature, he would probably kill her if he found out she was eavesdropping. But if she didn't leave, he would kill her immediately! She had to survive first!
"Your Majesty, please forgive me! I woke up in the night and did not know Your Majesty was here!" Wang Xiaoxia immediately knelt on the ground and said.
The bad guy was startled and turned around to look at Wang Xiaoxia in surprise.
"Little one," Cang Ze murmured.
"How long have you been here?" Cang Ze asked again.
His hand hung down naturally, with two fingers extended, spiritual energy gathering between them. He frowned, his gaze colder than the night.
Oh no! They're going to kill her! Wang Xiaoxia was so frightened that she broke out in a cold sweat.
"I just got up and came out when I saw no one in the room. I just happened to run into Your Majesty here. I was discovered by Your Majesty before I even left the room," Wang Xiaoxia explained hurriedly with his head down.
She crawled forward two steps, exposing herself completely, her eyes darting back to the eaves behind her, and began to plan her escape route.
If she ran now, perhaps the Bad Guys could hold him off for a while and she would still have a chance of survival. The Bad Guys had a close relationship with Cang Ze, so he would naturally be fine, but she herself might not be. If Cang Ze could kill her once, he could kill her a second time.
