Chapter 113 You must take good care of it

I originally thought I was just sending the person back.

But unexpectedly, on the way, Grandma Zhu took out the remaining yellow talismans from her sleeve and folded the talisman paper into small triangular packages as she walked.

"Take it." She handed the triangular bag to each person. The talisman paper in her hand was just used up. It seemed that she had taken it according to the number of people early in the morning.

"What is this used for?" Zhang Yuan looked at the small triangle in his hand curiously.

"This is a mountain god's talisman, it guarantees safety." Grandma Zhu smiled and said, "Don't open it, carry it close to your body."

Several people nodded, but what they thought in their hearts and whether they believed it or not was another matter.

After sending the people back to the house, it was already dark. Grandma Zhu urged them to go back quickly, "There are no street lights in the village. It's not safe to see the road at night. You should go back quickly."

As she spoke, she took Qiongzhi's hand and patted it gently, like an elder who cared for the younger generation in the family.

Watching her close the door, Qiongzhi and the others also hurried back to where they lived. On the way, many villagers hurriedly nodded to them and went into their respective homes. The village that was bustling during the day quickly became deserted after dark.

"Should we keep this thing?" Zhang Yuan asked, holding the talisman.

Wang Yang frowned. "Just looking at the statue of that mountain god doesn't seem like a good thing. We should be thankful that his talismans don't harm us. How could he possibly protect us?"

Zhang Yuan nodded. He thought so too, but he was worried that this thing might be useful later, so he didn't dare to throw it away directly.

"Then why don't we just not carry it with us?" Zhong Le said, "Let's put it away when we get back and take it out when we need it. Okay?"

"Let's keep them separate." Qiongzhi suddenly interrupted, "Don't let anyone find out and catch us all together."

Everyone thought what he said made sense. Zhang Yuan nodded and said, "Then separate them. Everyone remembers their own."

Aunt Lin cooked dinner for them and waited for them to come back to eat. When she saw the talisman in Zhang Yuan's hand, she smiled and said a few words like "Mountain God bless you". There was obsession in her eyes, and everyone who saw it felt even more that they couldn't really carry the talisman with them.

After dinner, they went back to the house and began to look for a place to hide the talisman.

"It would be fine to hide it in the house, right?" Zhang Yuan said. Wang Yang had the same idea as him, and the two of them began to look for a suitable place to hide the items in the house.

"You guys leave it inside, I'll go take a look outside and try to avoid crowding." Qiongzhi said, opening the door and walking out.

"Okay, be careful."

After closing the door, Qiongzhi glanced at the next room. Zhong Le and Wu Zheng's doors were also closed. It seemed that they were planning to hide in their rooms.

"Xiaoyue, right? Would you like some fruit?" Aunt Lin came out of the kitchen with a plate of processed fruit. She walked lightly and came behind Qiongzhi without making any sound.

Qiongzhi was startled and turned around to look at the plate of fruit in her hand. "Thank you, auntie."

"You're welcome." Aunt Lin smiled and picked up a piece of peach flesh with a toothpick and gave it to him. Her eyes fell on the talisman in Qiongzhi's hand and suddenly said, "You must take good care of it. It will keep you safe."

She was talking about you, not you guys.

Qiongzhi blinked, nodded, took the peach flesh handed to her, and put the talisman into her pocket.

He put the talisman away and never took it out again until he went to bed at night. He even reached into his pocket and rubbed the talisman twice before going to bed.

【??? Anchor, what are you doing???】

What is this operation?

[Why don't you find a safe place to put it? It's obviously dangerous to carry it with you, right?]

"Honey, can you please say something? Didn't we agree to put the talisman away?"

[I don't understand, the host's operation is confusing... I won't watch it anymore.]

In fact, not only the barrage, but even Qiongzhi himself didn't know what he was thinking. He just subconsciously felt that he should bring it with him.

At dawn the next day, everyone was awakened by the sound of firecrackers coming from outside the window.

When I walked out of the house, I saw Aunt Lin standing at the door with her hands covering her ears.

"Auntie, what are you doing?" Zhong Le asked.

Aunt Lin looked back at them and pointed at the breakfast on the table: "Breakfast is over there. This is to drive away those wandering ghosts so that they don't affect tomorrow's ceremony. We need it tomorrow morning too."

Everyone nodded. The breakfast on the table was cold multi-grain rice and a few cold dishes. They almost forgot that they would have to eat cold food all day.

There was a constant crackling sound of firecrackers outside, and the whole village was covered with a gray smoke. The thick smell of sulfur penetrated into people's nostrils, wantonly stimulating their senses.

The meal smelled of sulfur, so no one ate much, but Aunt Lin didn't care.

When the sound of firecrackers stopped, Lin San came in from outside. He had a happy look on his face and asked a few people to follow him, saying that he had found someone for them to experience it.

"A family doesn't need so many helpers. You have to do different tasks separately." Lin Sandao took them into a house first.

"Uncle Lin!" He shouted inside, and soon a man came out of the room with a sweat towel around his neck.

"People are coming!" Uncle Lin, who looked kind, pointed at Wang Yang and Zhang Yuan and said, "Two strong boys, stay here. We'll be chopping bamboo later. It's hard work."

Wang Yang and Zhang Yuan stayed with him. Zhong Le frowned. She didn't like the way they ordered people, as if they were choosing dishes. They weren't here to sell their labor...

People were gradually assigned to different families to help. Qiongzhi, as the last one, was unexpectedly sent to a house with a slightly deserted courtyard.
