A survival game sweeps across the globe.
Without time to prepare, Xia Ning is thrown onto an endless highway.
To survive, she must keep moving forward: highway survival, maritime advent...
day 1
Xia Ning belatedly remembered her unregistered pet and quietly called out to her sister from inside the wooden house.
No dog answered from the dusty cabin.
—Thump.
—Thump.
—Thump.
Suddenly, Xia Ning heard something hitting the window.
Could it be a zombie?
Xia Ning gripped a large machete and cautiously approached the wooden window. After entering the misty town, several Resident Evil movies flashed through her mind.
An unidentified object outside the window kept banging against it. Xia Ning slowly approached the windowsill, gradually removing the stone blocking the window, and then unexpectedly met a pair of large, beautiful eyes.
(`?Θ?′)
Even though her eyes weren't beady anymore, Xia Ning could easily read the soul of her younger sister from the other person's wise gaze.
Xia Ning: =-=
She put away the stones, opened the window, and a round-headed, round-bodied owl clumsily squeezed in, its claws even tripping over the windowsill, tumbling and rolling two and a half times.
Little sister: "Gurgle~ Gurgle~"
Owls, also known as night owls, are often regarded as birds of ill omen and have other names such as soul-chasing birds and harbingers of death.
Xia Ning felt that she was on a one-way trip down the path of villainy.
After reuniting with her sister, Xia Ning focused on exploring the cabin.
There are no signs of recent human activity in this dilapidated hut.
There was an empty shelf on the wooden wall, with a long nail protruding from the top. Xia Ning guessed that it used to be where hunting rifles were placed.
She turned on her flashlight and carefully examined every corner of the cabin before finally stopping in front of the dining table.
Xia Ning used her gloves to brush away the accumulated dust on the broken wooden table. The air was instantly filled with dust, and she waved her hand in front of her eyes for a while before her vision cleared.
The wooden table was covered with messy scratches. Xia Ning searched intently for a while before finding a few readable characters.
The handwriting grew larger and more illegible, as if the person who carved the characters was becoming increasingly mentally unstable.
“I”, “call”, “in”, “call”.
Xia Ning pondered for a moment, then rearranged the words—"Is it calling me?"
Who, who is calling him?
have no idea.
However, it can be inferred that the owner of the wooden house left on his own. There were no signs of a struggle or bloodstains inside, so there is no scenario of zombies breaking down the door and attacking humans.
Once you enter ranked matches, players can no longer see each other's IDs.
Xia Ning still wanted to hide her identity and blend in with the NPCs or the natives, but the level 3 difficulty map obviously wouldn't provide her with an identity card.
How can a stranger who appears out of nowhere gain the approval of the locals and deceive the other players?
And... are there any living people left in this town?
With a constant stream of questions swirling in her mind, Xia Ning first changed her clothes.
She landed on a trading island during her sea adventure, and just to be on the safe side, her original gear was no longer usable.
After being bundled up tightly, Xia Ning, along with her owl sister, opened the wooden door and officially took her first step in exploring the misty town.
Thick fog blanketed the area outside, reducing visibility to less than five meters in Xia Ning's field of vision.
She tried to move quietly and slowly around the cabin, and saw an abandoned pickup truck behind it.
Xia Ning opened the creaking car door, climbed into the passenger seat, and rummaged around inside the car.
She only had the car keys and a screwdriver in the front car's glove compartment.
Xia Ning checked all the gaps in the leather chair and then pulled down the sunshade, but found nothing.
After sitting in the car for two seconds and thinking, Xia Ning raised her hand and pulled down the sun visor on the passenger side again, and pushed open the small mirror in the middle.
A folded piece of paper is stuck between the sliding mirror panels.
Xia Ning unfolded the paper and found a figure in a gray robe praying. Behind him, mist and clouds swirled, and three bats hung upside down above his head. At the bottom of the paper was a line of black, flowing liquid-like text—
God has mercy on mankind.
Xia Ning leaned back tactically, "What kind of feudal superstition propaganda leaflet is this?"
She put the flyer into her spatial storage and continued exploring. After confirming that there were no more clues in the pickup truck, Xia Ning got out of the car and disassembled the pickup truck into [5 scrap metal pieces], which she then put into her spatial storage.
The main focus is on making a quick buck.
Xia Ning continued walking and soon found a small path.
She walked straight along the path, her younger sister flapping her wings above her head.
Suddenly, the little owl let out a short hoot.
Xia Ning immediately became alert, as a huge figure lunged at her from within the thick fog.
It was a brown bear that was three meters tall.
Having been through three dungeons, Xia Ning was no longer as apprehensive as she was when opening a treasure chest in the highway dungeon. She nimbly dodged the bear paw attack with a roll.
The brown bear slammed its paw on the tree trunk, and the tree immediately rustled, its leaves fluttering down.
Xia Ning wasn't afraid of it, but she had one question—the bear's eyes were red.
Do animals also affect the fog?
Xia Ning killed the brown bear with a single strike, but after waiting for two minutes, the system still hadn't announced the kill reward.
So she had no choice but to dismantle the brown bear's carcass and collect its fur, paws, and meat.
Xia Ning's attention was naturally drawn to the last item that fell, but unfortunately the game did not provide any further explanation.
Everything in the misty town was shrouded in a layer of mist.
