When Shi Shizhao opened his eyes again, it was already broad daylight. He was surprised to see his sister and Qingbai there.

"Sister, Qingbai, what are you doing in my house?"

Shi Meiling stared intently at her younger brother.

"Shizhao, you have absolutely no recollection of him? Look around this room, can you remember anything?"

Shi Shizhao looked around the room and asked his sister in disbelief.

"Sis, am I having another episode? I don't remember it at all. I remember going to bed really early last night."

An Qingbai guessed that it might be the effect of the medicine that made his uncle forget his irritable state at the time.

"Uncle, how are you feeling now?"

Shi Shizhao immediately rolled off the kang (a heated brick bed) and stepped onto the ground to stretch his body.

At this moment, Tian Lifang came in to greet them.

"Shizhao has just woken up. Shizhao, go wash your face. Sister, Qingbai, let's eat."

Shi Meiling didn't stand on ceremony with Tian Lifang this time, as it was a rare occasion to eat at her younger brother and sister-in-law's house.

Shi Shizhao tidied himself up, picked up the porridge, took a sip, and then asked.

"Sister, didn't Qingsong get married yesterday? Aren't you and Qingbai going back right away? The new bride has to serve you tea, right?"

"Right, right, I almost forgot. Third brother, hurry up, let's go back right away after we finish eating!"

The mother and son both quickened their eating pace as they talked.

Tian Lifang was very grateful.

"Sister, Qingbai, thank you for coming all this way for Shizhao."

Before leaving the house, An Qingbai left a message for Shi Shizhao.

"Uncle, wait for me to come back and avenge you!"

After his sister and son got up and left, Shi Shizhao looked at his wife.

"Lifang, what does Qingbai mean by that?"

Tian Lifang smiled but didn't say anything. She decided not to tell her husband yet, lest she get involved and it sound bad if word got out.

When the mother and son returned to the village, An Qingsong and his wife were still in bed. Shi Meiling breathed a sigh of relief, worried that she might miss the appointment and make the new daughter-in-law think that she, as the mother-in-law, was not satisfied with her.

An Qingbai went back to his room to catch up on sleep, and Shi Meiling also went back to her room to lie down for a while.

Upon seeing his wife, An Tanxiao immediately asked her with concern.

"How is Shizhao?"

"It's alright now. Luckily, Lao San and I got there in time, otherwise we'd probably be collecting Shi Zhao's body by now."

Shizhao grabbed a stool and was about to smash it over his head when Lao San and I yelled at him. He then threw the stool aside. Even now, thinking about it makes my heart tremble!

"That was so dangerous!"
