Chapter Seven / Section Three: Revenge

It was Xiong Yingguang who disfigured her in the fire and nearly took her life. In Yan Xinhe's eyes, Xiong Yingguang was a monster who shouldn't have lived in this world, and no one connected with her had a good ending. Even if it meant paying the price herself, she was determined to drag Xiong Yingguang down to hell.

Yan Xinhe pushed open the door of the Chen Group and led a group of people inside.

"What are you doing? Do you have any identification? How dare you force your way into the Chen Group! Do you believe I'll call the police?" the security guard shouted sternly.

"Listen up, I'm here to see your chairman, Xiong Yingguang. She has to come out today; I need to catch up with her." Yan Xinhe grabbed the security guard's sleeve.

A group of thugs followed Yan Xinhe closely, causing trouble in the hall with menacing manner.

"Sister He, why don't we just turn this place upside down and the Chen Group will become ours?" one of the underlings suggested in a low voice.

"Are you stupid? Sister He is trying to force Xiong Yingguang out. I heard she and Xiong Yingguang have a deep-seated grudge," another person replied.

Yan Xinhe looked up at the sky, which was a vast expanse of white. She lit a cigarette and slowly exhaled thick smoke.

She had finally waited for this day, finally able to take her revenge on Xiong Yingguang. The fire that year had disfigured her face, and now she would repay it tenfold, making Xiong Yingguang taste what unbearable pain truly meant. But Xiong Yingguang was insensitive to pain; only by causing her heartache could she truly exact revenge.

"Xiong Yingguang! Xiong Yingguang, if you have the guts, come down here!" Yan Xinhe rang the voice-activated doorbell in the lobby, and her voice carried to Xiong Yingguang's office.

"Haiyang, go and see what's going on." Xiong Yingguang finally couldn't take it anymore.

"Okay." Haiyang responded and went downstairs.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Haiyang saw a group of menacing thugs sitting in the lobby, each wielding a knife and covered in mottled tattoos. Among them, he spotted Yan Xinhe at a glance, and his pupils immediately contracted. He hadn't expected her to return, and a sense of fear crept into his heart.

"Yan Xinyu, what are you doing here?" Haiyang asked, feigning composure.

"Haiyang, you don't even remember me? I'm Yan Xinhe, not my sister Yan Xinyu." Yan Xinhe smiled coldly.

"How could it be you? You weren't already..."

"Yes, I almost died. That fire disfigured me, and I nearly perished in the flames. Do you know who caused all of this? It was your young lady, Xiong Yingguang! Tell me, where is she hiding now? And Haiyuan, you didn't seem to care much about her before she died."

"Haiyuan died of leukemia. What's the use of me caring about her? I have my own things to do. How can I take care of her?" Haiyang said coldly.

"Haiyang, how can you be so cold-blooded and heartless? She's your own sister." Yan Xinhe's voice was full of disappointment.

"So what if she's my own sister? Our parents died early, and I've been taking care of her like a mother and brother. Earning money is already very difficult for me, isn't that enough?" Haiyang retorted.

“Haiyang, actually your sister Haiyuan didn’t die. She’s been at Shanshan Hospital in Yantai, Shandong,” Yan Xinhe suddenly said.

"What!" Haiyang exclaimed in shock.

At this moment, Xiong Yingguang stepped out of the elevator, followed by Zhou Xin. To Yan Xinhe, Zhou Xin was a completely unfamiliar girl.

Xiong Yingguang looked at Yan Xinhe and asked calmly, "What are you doing bringing so many thugs here, Miss?"

"Miss? Who the hell are you calling a 'Miss'? Don't forget what you've done, and you still dare to act so arrogantly!" Yan Xinhe rebuked angrily.

"Haiyang, why don't you kick her out!" Xiong Yingguang turned and ordered.

"Drive me away? I am Yan Xinhe, the one whose face was disfigured by you in that fire back then! Listen to me carefully, today you must taste the pain I once suffered!" Yan Xinhe was burning with rage, wanting nothing more than to rush up and punch Xiong Yingguang, but reason kept her in check. She looked at Xiong Yingguang, her anger surging within her.

"Sister He, don't be impulsive. Impulsiveness is the devil. Don't commit a crime out of anger," the younger brother advised.

"I know," Yan Xinhe said through gritted teeth.

She suddenly pulled out a knife, revealing a cunning smile.

Just as Yan Xinhe was about to stab Xiong Yingguang's left arm, Zhou Xin suddenly pushed Xiong Yingguang away, and the two fell to the ground together.

Xiong Yingguang stood up, patted her skirt, and said coldly, "No matter what you do to me, I won't feel anything. I am painless."

Yan Xinhe then realized that a knife couldn't cause Xiong Yingguang any pain. She put down the knife, understanding that only by making Xiong Yingguang feel heartache could she truly exact revenge.

Just as Jing Moran suddenly returned and pushed open the door, Yan Xinhe stabbed him. Jing Moran countered and subdued Yan Xinhe.

"Let me go!" Yan Xinhe struggled.

"You want to stab me? I won't feel any pain, because I'm also a painless person," Jing Mo Ran replied coldly.

A cold smile appeared on Yan Xinhe's face: "Actually, I knew all along that you were painless people, so I deliberately lured you here."

Just as Jing Moran looked up, Yan Xinhe's henchman stabbed Xiong Yingguang with a knife, while another person stabbed Jing Moran from behind.

"Let's go, let's hurry, Sister He!" the younger brother urged.

After breaking free, Yan Xinhe quickly got up and left, glancing back once more. Xiong Yingguang and Jing Moran, the unfortunate siblings, lay on the ground, blood flowing freely. Xiong Yingguang watched as Jing Moran crawled towards her, as if she were seeing a long-lost warmth.

The flames of revenge have burned for twelve years. At six years old, she was disfigured by Xiong Yingguang; now, she has caused Xiong Yingguang to lose the person she cared about most. An exchange of one for another is the best deal for her.

She knew it was wrong to do this, but the resentment she had harbored for years had finally been avenged. She understood that Xiong Yingguang couldn't feel physical pain, but she would feel real pain whenever someone she cared about was in trouble.
