Xu Milu was drowning in debt. After obtaining a dimensional travel system, she embarked on an irreversible path of selling interdimensional ingredients across the universe.
She hawks pearls f...
Xu Milu knew without guessing that it was the other half of her genes causing the problem.
Xu Milu hadn't experienced this feeling of being completely absorbed in something without any distractions since college.
Only when the bicycle made a "squeak-squeak-squeak" sound in protest did she smack her lips and reluctantly slow down and stop.
That feeling just now was so wonderful, that feeling of being able to be faster, of being in control of everything...
The bicycle was made by a no-name bicycle factory; it's really amazing that it lasted this long before breaking down.
Xu Milu looked at the sky. It was still early, but she still planned to stop and rest. After all, she expected to stay in this plane for a full month, so there was no need to rush.
Surrounded by mountains, the road Xu Milu chose happened to be in the lowest-lying area, which was probably formed after the riverbed carved out by the melting snow of the glaciers dried up.
There are many compacted sections along the road, which shows that people often pass through here, which is how a path was gradually formed.
"It seems this place has been dry for quite some time now..."
Xu Milu climbed onto a huge, high-lying rock, bounced around on it a couple of times, and then set up her tent on a wide, flat surface behind the rock.
The tent had already been set up in the warehouse, so she only needed to secure it, which was very convenient.
After the fire was lit, Xu Milu stood on the rock and gazed into the distance, watching the sun slowly set behind the mountains, and as the valley grew quieter, darkness fell.
The sound of wind whistling came from not far away, the cold was kept out by the large rocks, insects chirped, and occasionally a bird called back to the forest, but then it quickly quieted down. The only sound was the crackling of dry firewood in the fire in front of the tent.
...
...
Xu Milu's dinner was simple: a whole pan-fried silver winged flying fish, a cold tortilla salad, and fresh fire mulberry fruit.
Although the dishes are simple, they are still incredibly delicious.
After swallowing the last bite of fish, Xu Milu felt a warm sensation rising from her throat to her stomach.
Holding a thermos full of hot water, she leaned against the warm rock by the fire, comfortably half-closing her eyes as she counted the stars.
In fact, she could have easily used the time difference between the two dimensions to play on her phone on Earth and then come back to travel when it got light here.
But that would mean losing too much of the fun.
Like now, traveling at her own pace with her luggage is what she wants. After all, blindly pursuing profit can be suffocating.
Listening to the chirping of insects, the rustling of the wind, and the rustling of grass, Xu Milu gazed at the orange-red campfire and was about to fall asleep when she heard an unusual noise coming from afar.
...
...
"Aaaaaah—Help!! Help!! Damn it!! Why are these awful Mastiffs chasing us?!"
"Why are these damn mastiffs chasing us like this?! Damn it!!"
"Aaaaaah—they're catching up!!! Damn it!! God of Gourmet, I don't want to die—"
"Help me!!!"
Xu Milu clung to the rocks and looked down. A mercenary squad came rushing towards the end of the valley with a loud rumble, startling the birds that were roosting in the woods on both sides of the valley.
Not far behind them, a group of reddish-brown bears with semi-erect fur were angrily chasing the humans, roaring incessantly.
"Roar! Woof! Woof! Woof!"
"Woof woof!!!"
"Roar!!"
"There's fire ahead!!! Mastiffs are afraid of fire, we're saved!!!"
"There's a fire! There are people! Climb up!! Mastiffs are afraid of fire!!"
Someone noticed the firelight coming from Xu Milu's spot and directed everyone to climb up the large rock halfway up the mountain. Everyone scrambled up, one pulling another, afraid that if they were a step too late, they would be torn to pieces by the angry mastiffs.
[Bear Mastiff: A canine species belonging to the bear family, skilled at hunting rare prey, fierce in nature, and extremely aggressive.]
Looking at the enraged mastiff and combining it with what the group had said, Xu Milu immediately understood.
This group of mercenaries had angered the Mastiff clan and had come to seek refuge.
She didn't want to get involved, so she just frowned, put away the things that might be easily exposed outside the tent, and added a few more bundles of firewood to the fire to make it burn brighter.
If anything happens in a moment, she'll use the dimensional jumper to jump back; survival is the most important thing.
Only when the pursuing mastiffs got closer did Xu Milu get a clear look at what the creatures looked like.
With its fluffy, reddish-brown fur and a massive body that conceals terrifying explosive power, its large forepaws are suspended in mid-air, its paws gripping the ground, as if it is about to pounce and devour its prey at any moment.
Its head was topped with round, adorable ears, and its comical, cute features were now contorted into a ferocious expression, its exposed sharp teeth gleaming coldly. No one would doubt the lethality of this furry behemoth.
Looking at this creature that resembled both a mastiff and a bear, Xu Milu even imagined how comfortable it would feel to stroke its fur.
...
...
Just as they had said, upon seeing the bright firelight, the pack of bear-mastiffs stopped their pursuit and paced anxiously beneath the rocks.
The bear-dogs wanted to climb up and tear their enemy apart, but they were also afraid of the firelight, letting out deep growls from the depths of their throats.
"Woof!"
"Woof!!"
