Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Am I really that scary?

Just one short sentence.

Despite her questioning tone, Li Jia felt her legs become even weaker and she couldn't stand up anymore.

I'm going to die.

I'm going to die.

I'm really going to die...

She couldn't help but be afraid; anyone would be afraid in that situation.

The plans she had made in advance were now useless; Li Jia couldn't remember anything, her mind was completely blank.

"He can't even stand properly, yet he's become my servant."

"That's really interesting."

This was the second time Li Jia had heard a woman say that she was interesting.

What could she do? If she could, she wouldn't want to be in such a funny situation o_o

What's so good about being stalked by a snake?

She didn't dare to say a word, afraid of saying something wrong and displeasing the woman.

Suddenly, in a moment, stilettos appeared before her eyes, and a faint fragrance of roses wafted to her nose, pleasant but not overpowering.

The tall, slender figure enveloped her in a halo of light. Li Jia was panting, sweat beading on her forehead, and she dared not move.

The woman slowly squatted down, reached out and lifted her chin so that her gaze was level with hers. Her fingertips were covered with a thin layer of calluses, and her knuckles were distinct, like the texture of carefully carved jade, or like the scales of a snake, cool and refreshing.

Li Jia's neck felt terribly cold, as if someone had breathed cold air onto her collar. Cold sweat trickled down her back, slowly soaking her undershirt.

Li Jia had no choice but to force herself to meet her gaze.

It was breathtakingly beautiful even from a distance.

We're practically in direct contact now, this is just too amazing.

What Li Jia loved most about Hera's face was her pair of red eyes—not a pale red, but a very intense one.

Like imported cherries with three J's.

Forgive her for being uneducated, but when she worked part-time at a five-star hotel during her summer vacation, it was the first time she had ever known that there could be such big and red cherries in the world, with each one costing three figures.

Looking into Hera's eyes, Li Jia fell into her own little thoughts. She thought that if Hera's eyes were cherries, they would probably be the most expensive and most beautiful cherries in the entire universe.

"what's on your mind?"

Seeing her vacant eyes, Hera was a little unhappy; no one dared to daydream while talking to her.

I want cherries.

"My mouth reacts faster than my brain," Li Jia said without hesitation.

What are cherries?

Hera patiently searched the Book of Worlds with her divine sense, but there was nothing in it that was called "cherry".

"It is a fruit, as beautiful as Your Majesty's eyes."

Li Jia belatedly realized what was happening and changed into a fawning, obsequious, and frail demeanor.

"So you were looking into my eyes when you were spacing out just now?"

Li Jia nodded obsequiously.

Hera knew that Li Jia was lying, and that she was quite good at acting. If an ordinary mortal were here, they would find her flattery very appealing.

Hera neither liked nor disliked it; she was simply too bored. Having lived for thousands of years, she had slowly begun to hate her stagnant life.

She continued with her question, the one she had always wanted to ask her: "Why do you want to become my apprentice?"

Why?

Why?!

A million grass mud horses were roaring in Li Jia's heart.

How can I secretly prevent you from marrying Zeus if I don't become your servant?

If you don't marry Zeus, you won't be his wife. Then, it won't matter to you if he has several mistresses and hundreds of children. Persephone could be born smoothly, and Hades wouldn't have started the War of the Gods.

She can then return home safely and regain her health.

You don't have to marry a scumbag, it's a win-win situation!

Of course, Li Jia couldn't tell the truth.

You can't exactly say she saw the plot in a book.

Her mind raced, combining the hundreds of idol dramas, palace dramas, martial arts dramas, and fantasy dramas she had watched over the years.

She gave the most satisfying answer she had ever given in her life: "Your Majesty, because I love you."

"Liking is a choice, but loving is being unable to live without you."

He added another cheesy pickup line.

Li Jia's throat bobbed slightly, trying to swallow all her nervousness and anxiety.

I went through the scenes of loyalty expressed in the TV dramas I had watched, one after another, in my mind.

Finally, they were confident.

Li Jia got up from the ground and stood straight in front of Hera. Her right knee slowly bent down until it landed steadily on the ground. Her upper body leaned forward unconsciously, and she reached out and kissed Hera's fingertips.

With utmost devotion and utmost reverence, I gazed into her eyes:

“Li Jia Wans swears with his life that I will be loyal to you forever, until my death.”

Hera paused slightly, but remained expressionless. Li Jia glanced at her furtively, feeling utterly bored.

They're so desperate, living on the edge of death.

Shouldn't they at least respond?

Why aren't you giving any response at all?

Doreen, however, noticed the lord's brows, which should have been furrowed.

Suddenly, his face smoothed out, and a barely perceptible smile appeared at the corner of his eye.

Lord God?

She smiled...

Winslow thought it made perfect sense. Hera was very powerful, possessing strength equal to Zeus and even showing a tendency to surpass him in the future. Who wouldn't love Hera?

It is only natural for Li Jia to admire Her Majesty Hera.

Hera then squatted down and asked, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

As he spoke, he withdrew his fingertip and touched Li Jia's cheek.

She found that she really liked touching her face; it was soft, even softer than the penguin Artemis kept.

However, she never actually touched it; it was all described by Artemis.

Anyone who dares to touch her penguin will likely be riddled with pincushions by her silver-feathered bow, including her brother Apollo.

"I was afraid, but I didn't have time to be afraid, because love had already taken root and sprouted in my heart."

Li Jia recalled a famous quote, as tender and affectionate as the day Shu Huan confessed his love to Yi Ping in the drama "Romance in the Rain".

As long as she can make her boss happy, how far away can a house, a car, and money be?

In Li Jia's mind now, Hera is no longer a demon, but a gilded God of Wealth, or rather, a 999,999-carat pure gold.

It turns out that Li Jia's love for the Goddess had reached such a level.

Winslow quietly moved closer to Doreen, sighed, and whispered, "I didn't expect that Li Jia was already so deeply in love with the God Lord, that she couldn't live without him."

"Oh? Is that so? How can you tell she's not a liar, deceiving His Majesty?" Doreen looked coldly at the two people in the hall. She did notice that Li Jia's hands, hidden under her skirt, were trembling violently.

“Look at you, all you do all day is tinker with your knife. Unlike me, I’m well-read and I can tell at a glance that she’s sincere. I knew it! How could anyone become the ‘devil’s’ servant for no reason?”

"Love is the greatest thing in the world."

Winslow lowered his voice and analyzed the situation logically.

"Demon" is a nickname given to Hera by outsiders, who believe that a ruthless woman like her is more suitable to be the Queen of the Underworld than Hades.

"Read extensively?"

"You mean those love-themed sketchbooks you got from Hermes?"

Just as Winslow was about to refute Doreen's claim that it wasn't an ordinary sketchbook, but rather a source of spiritual nourishment for her to receive information from the outside world, the two people below made a commotion, interrupting her conversation with Doreen.

"We'll move to the inner palace today."

Hera glanced at her with amusement, and Li Jia's sunflower-like face instantly froze.

No? What happened to the promised imperial palace?

Where is her house?!

Why does she live with the man she's being pursued?

In fact, if the system were to boot up at this point and see her progress on the walkthrough, it would definitely praise her highly.

You can't catch a wolf without risking your cub; the closer you are, the greater your chances of success.

Li Jia was completely immersed in the pain of losing her house, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

She was filled with such regret!

Li Jia finally understood what it felt like to buy an unfinished building.

In the future, when buying a house, you must buy a completed house, not a pre-sale house.

Because expectations and disappointments are mutually reinforcing, the greater the expectations, the higher the sunk costs, and the higher the disappointments.

Seeing Li Jia "crying with joy", Winslow couldn't help but feel happy for her. It's only natural for someone to be so excited about getting what they wanted that they shed tears.

Winslow ran to Li Jia's side and helped her up, who was stiff with emotion. "Look how happy you are. You'll be able to go out with His Majesty and sleep in the same bed from now on. It's a fulfillment of your wish. You're a devoted lover."

stop.

Sleeping in the same bed?

Li Jia stared helplessly at Winslow with her big eyes, then glanced at the indifferent God beside her, and said in a voice barely audible, "Sleeping in the same bed is unnecessary... How could I, a mere commoner, dare to defile Your Majesty's bed? It is enough to serve Your Majesty."

"fine."

"Can."

Hera remained unmoved, replying with only two words and two sentences.

Li Jia couldn't fathom the thoughts of this capricious "devil," so how could she dare to contradict her?

Whatever the leader says goes.

"Then let the Goddess of Weaving come and tailor clothes for Li Jia tomorrow. I don't mind sharing with her, since we're about the same size. It's just that the colors I like are a bit too plain, while she prefers brighter colors."

Winslow yawned and said lazily.

Upon hearing this, Hera looked Li Jia up and down.

really.

She doesn't suit plain-colored dresses very well.

"Perfect timing, I'll make a few too, I have no clothes to wear."

Winslow clapped his hands and said resentfully.

Li Jia felt ashamed. Was Winslow referring to her pile of brand-new clothes that looked like a small mountain?

Doreen was equally ashamed, but it wasn't a big deal.

Including Li Jia, there are only four people in the wedding temple. Adding one more salted fish is not something we can't afford to support.

"Then I don't have to wear the same military uniform as them?"

"Need not."

It's still just two simple words.

That's great.

Li Jia couldn't imagine what it would be like to wear a maid outfit and jump around the mansion every day.

"If I don't wear military uniform and don't have divine markings, how will others know that I am Your Majesty's person? What if they accidentally hurt me?"

The world is vast, but my life is the most important thing.

"No, we signed a master-servant contract, and the divine runes are attached to your body."

Hera touched her collarbone and immediately felt a burning sensation in Li Jia's body as well. She looked down at the source of the heat.

Her collarbone has the same silver serpent pattern as Hera's.

Li Jia: "..."

Having lived two lives, this is the first time I've ever gotten a rebellious tattoo – and this is how it was done.

She had to pretend to like it very much: "Your Majesty is so thoughtful."

Having given all the necessary instructions, the person disappeared from the hall in the blink of an eye.

His Majesty the God truly came and went in a hurry.

Li Jia breathed a sigh of relief after everyone left. Winslow, with an "I understand" look on his face, patted her on the shoulder and said, "Sister, I didn't realize that. You should have said so earlier. I'll take care of this little thing."

Li Jia could only smile awkwardly, cursing the system as a complete idiot hundreds of times in her mind.

It keeps crashing when it shouldn't be crashing.

She's definitely cemented her image as a lovesick woman!
