She is often expressionless, never revealing what she’s thinking.
No matter what, the cautious cousin arrived at Wenmo’s abode.
These two ended up living together inexplicably.
<...I woke up at 7 a.m., not too early, not too late.
Rubbing his tired eyes, Wen Mo got up and stretched, the cracking sound from his cervical spine particularly crisp.
I took out my phone and checked the time; there was plenty of time, enough to do other things.
After washing her face and brushing her teeth, Wenmo lazily boiled two eggs and ate them with milk and bread, making a very simple breakfast.
Although today is Day 1, it doesn't feel real at all. The morning is as peaceful as ever, except that the familiar faces around me are missing.
"Why are you so slow to get up today? Didn't you say you were going to see me off?"
Wen Mo scratched his head in confusion, but after he finished breakfast, he still hadn't seen the girl come out of the room.
He glanced at the clock, the minutes and seconds ticking away. He couldn't wait any longer, so he got up, walked to the door, and raised his hand to knock.
"Are you awake? If not, I'll come in."
As soon as he finished speaking, a few sounds came from inside, like the sound of two little feet walking barefoot on the floor, getting closer and closer to the door, until the door was gently opened the next second.
Xia Lian lowered her head, her hands swaying behind her back, her cheeks flushed with shyness, but she still tried her best to muster the courage to look up at him.
Wen Mo's eyes suddenly widened, and he looked her up and down, his gaze seemingly drawn to her entire body.
The girl was slender, and a white cheongsam fit her figure perfectly. The soft fabric swayed gently with her movements, outlining the girl's unique youthful curves.
The skirt was neither too long nor too short, just reaching the girl's slender calves. As she walked, a pair of fair ankles could be vaguely seen, light and graceful. Her two bare feet were turned inward, as if shyly keeping her toes taut.
Wen Mo stared at her for a long time, then subconsciously swallowed, perhaps feeling a little embarrassed by her gaze, before awkwardly looking away. "You... you must have been up for a while now."
No wonder they didn't open the door; they were busy tidying up their cheongsams.
To be honest, it really suits her, especially the tight, jade-like white color that accentuates her figure.
The cheongsam subtly outlined her round and adorable little belly, with a slight curve, carrying an innocent and charming naivety, without a trace of deliberate embellishment, a mark unique to Lianbao.
"Well... because it was a successful start, that's what my aunt said."
Xia Lian raised her head, pursed her lips slightly. This was the first time she had worn such tight clothes, and a strange shyness lingered in her heart, but she still tried her best to let the person she liked see her completely.
"Wenmo, is it pretty?"
She turned around, revealing her figure from both the front and back. Although she wasn't exactly beautiful, her girlish purity still captivated Wen Mo's gaze.
The girl's black hair was loosely tied up, with a few strands falling beside her fair cheeks, and her two innocent big eyes stared straight at her.
"It looks good, but I've only ever heard the saying 'a good start' before." Wen Mo shook his head with a smile and took out his phone to show her the camera.
I took several photos, but I'm still not entirely satisfied. I need to make sure she wears the clothes a few more times after the exam. I think Mommy bought the clothes too.
Xia Lian immediately nodded, "Good luck! Auntie said the higher the slit in the dress, the better."
As she spoke, she suddenly remembered something, turned around in the room, took out a pair of scissors, and was about to cut along the hem of her clothes at her calves.
"Hey, hey, hey! You don't have to cut it so high!" Wen Mo quickly stopped her, then snatched the scissors and pinched the girl's cheek helplessly. "We're just trying to get good luck, there's no need to be so serious."
Xia Lian tilted her head in confusion as her face was pinched.
"A good omen?"
"It means praying for good luck, like a blessing buff," Wenmo explained.
Hearing this, Xia Lian pursed her lips, her expressionless eyes reflecting his face, then suddenly lowered her head, "I don't understand, but I want Wen Mo to have good luck..."
"That's great, I already feel like I'm surrounded by good luck."
As if sensing the girl's feelings, Wen Mo patted his chest, looking full of strength, and smiled as he ruffled the ends of her hair that was piled up.
Upon hearing this, Xia Lian raised her head and blinked, "Really?"
"Really, why would I lie to you?"
Wen Mo stretched, turned around and pulled Xia Lian into the living room, checking his stationery and other necessities one last time.
After confirming everything, he took a deep breath, his eyes clearer than ever before, ready to face the upcoming exam in the most relaxed and alert state.
Wen Mo put on his shoes, half-squatted in the entryway, and looked up at Xia Lian, who was looking down at him. "It's inconvenient to wear shoes while wearing a cheongsam, right?"
"Mm." Xia Lian nodded.
As if they were already used to this way of getting along, neither of them spoke. First, the girl gently lifted her toes, and the latter very consciously took her small foot in his hand.
The girl froze, feeling the warmth of the white cotton socks enveloping her feet, the delicate cotton threads clinging to her skin. In front of Wen Mo, she felt a surge of shyness, especially given how indecent her clothes were.
After putting on his shoes, Wen Mo got up, took Xia Lian's hand, and opened the door with a smile to set off.
The city was unusually quiet today, except for the countless parents and students at the school gate, who were bustling with activity. Everyone seemed to be using the most auspicious items to pray for blessings. After asking the gods and Buddhas, the female family members were dressed in beautiful cheongsams.
Perhaps because the cheongsam wasn't particularly eye-catching, Xia Lian's tense mood immediately relaxed, and she took Wen Mo's hand and followed closely behind.
Wenmo glanced at his phone and saw a familiar pair of figures at the agreed-upon location.
"Why are you taking so long? Aren't you afraid of being late?"
