She is often expressionless, never revealing what she’s thinking.
No matter what, the cautious cousin arrived at Wenmo’s abode.
These two ended up living together inexplicably.
<..."You really don't like it?"
"I don't like it." Xia Lian shook her head, but gripped the hem of her clothes even tighter.
Wen Mo watched her reaction with interest, then followed her lead and said, "If you don't like it, then let's go."
"Um."
Xia Lian quickly responded and followed behind him, but before leaving, she lingered for a moment to look at the bow, and finally looked away as if she had made up her mind.
About two minutes later.
The two had walked nearly two hundred meters, and Xia Lian hadn't said a word, acting as if she hadn't thought of the bow at all.
"I have to say, you're incredibly patient," Wen Mo couldn't help but say.
We were probably almost out of the night market by now, but this guy didn't even look back once.
"Hmm...?" Xia Lian raised her head in confusion, as if she couldn't understand what he was saying.
Wen Mo scratched his head, shook his head and sighed softly, gaining a new understanding of the girl in front of him.
"Wait here for me a moment, I'll be right back."
After saying that, Wen Mo started running quickly, but the crowded people forced him to slow down. Fortunately, the stall wasn't far from them.
The girl was stunned for a moment, and just as she was about to speak, the person in front of her disappeared from sight.
"ah……"
Seeing the direction he left in, Xia Lian immediately understood what Wen Mo was going back to do.
She was still a little confused. She had tried so hard to pretend she didn't like the bow, so why could he see right through her thoughts? But she was mostly happy.
Her eyes softened, and she unconsciously relaxed.
Suddenly, a series of footsteps approached.
The girl slowly raised her head, thinking that only Wen Mo had returned, but when she saw the extra pair of shoes in front of her, her mind suddenly changed.
Two flamboyant-looking strangers stood in front of her.
Xia Lian subconsciously took two steps back, her brows furrowing slightly. Her intuition told her that the two people in front of her were not good people.
Especially their frivolous smiles and piercing gazes made people feel extremely uncomfortable, and all they wanted to do was escape from there as quickly as possible.
"Do you have anyone with you right now? Would you like to come and play with us later?" A man with a yellow perm asked tentatively. He had many earrings and was very thin.
"Hey, it's obvious she's single! Why ask so many questions?" Another person impatiently pushed him away, but the aggressive look in that eyes made Xia Lian feel nauseous.
Xia Lian was somewhat at a loss, even a little scared, and couldn't even make a sound. However, the two people in front of her seemed not to see the panic in the girl's eyes and insisted on taking her away.
After a while, seeing that she didn't speak, the two of them became bolder and even tentatively moved closer.
Seeing the other man's deliberately evasive gaze, the blond-haired man curled his lip in displeasure. "Did I say you're mute? You won't even say a word?"
His feigned patience crumbled instantly. Seeing the girl trying to run away, the blond-haired man immediately stepped forward and reached out to grab her wrist.
"Um?"
The wrist wasn't as delicate as he'd imagined. He hadn't expected a girl's wrist to be so strong. Suddenly, a huge shadow, clearly not belonging to a girl, appeared beneath his feet.
Gazing at that shadow, the blond-haired man subconsciously raised his head, only to meet a pair of icy eyes.
Wen Mo shook off his wrist, which was being held by the other person. His expression was as if he had been touched by something dirty. He frowned, took out a wet wipe, and gently wiped his wrist. "Disgusting."
He tucked the ribbon he had bought into his pocket, then turned to Xia Lian and said softly, "Are you alright? Did they do anything to you?"
Hearing this, the girl hiding behind Wen Mo nodded gently, then shook her head, her nose stinging, and buried her head in his back.
"They tried to touch me... I ran away..."
Xia Lian looked up at the back of the man blocking her way. The man's back wasn't particularly broad, and he wasn't as tall as she had imagined. In fact, he was rather thin. But hiding behind him always made her feel safe.
After hearing this, Wen Mo glanced at the bewildered duo of hooligans and felt his anger rising sharply.
"Who the hell are you?" The blond-haired man was furious, especially at the other man's expression as if he had touched something dirty, which made him feel extremely insulted.
"None of your business, you idiot."
Wen Mo's swearing not only left the duo of hooligans somewhat bewildered, but even Xia Lian felt a little unfamiliar with it, because she had never heard Wen Mo swear before.
And the insults were delivered in such a volatile and provocative manner.
Wen Mo's cold eyes were filled with intense anger. He hadn't expected that Xia Lian would almost be harassed by a hooligan in just one minute since he left.
"Damn it..." He exhaled, his chest rising and falling slowly with his emotions.
Night markets are places like that; anyone can come in and browse, whether you're a good person, a bad person, or a thug. There are hardly any rules to speak of.
Looking at the two people in front of him, Wen Mo clicked his tongue in amazement.
It wasn't a stereotype, but the two people in front of him looked exactly like thugs and hooligans. Their sleazy clothes, brightly dyed hair, and foul language were simply repulsive.
They're the type of person who feels disgusted even from five meters away.
"Scum of society, disgusting." Wen Mo glanced at him with disgust.
