She is often expressionless, never revealing what she’s thinking.
No matter what, the cautious cousin arrived at Wenmo’s abode.
These two ended up living together inexplicably.
<...In the end, they didn't even have time for breakfast. They quickly changed their clothes and headed straight for school.
At 11 a.m., there were no students to be seen on the street. Most students were still in school at this time, making the two figures stand out.
The walk to the school was short; the school gate was in sight in just a few minutes, and Uncle Zhang was drinking tea in the security room as usual.
As the two cousins approached the school gate, Uncle Zhang, who was inside, peeked out with a look of surprise on his face. He came out of the security room and sized up the two little ones in front of him.
"What's your excuse this time? Did you stay up late again?" Uncle Zhang joked, glancing at the time on his phone. "You two fell asleep in the middle of the night last night, didn't you? You slept until eleven o'clock."
Wen Mo smiled awkwardly. He and Xia Lian used to always subconsciously make up excuses when they arrived late. Fortunately, Uncle Zhang was a nice guy and would always let them in after saying a few words.
But the two of them didn't arrive at school until almost the end of the morning classes. I've never seen anyone be this late before!
"We had some things to do this morning, so we were late. I've already told the teacher, so don't worry," Wen Mo said matter-of-factly.
"Oh, then there's no problem."
Uncle Zhang didn't care about anything else, waved for them to go in, and Wen Mo grinned and nodded repeatedly to Uncle Zhang.
"Thanks, Uncle Zhang, we'll be going now."
"At least come a little earlier next time! I'm under a lot of pressure if you come this late every day!" Uncle Zhang reached out and tapped his head, while glancing at their tightly clasped hands from time to time. "Did you get lost at school again? It's been so long since school started and you still need this little girl to lead you around."
Uncle Zhang had seen the two holding hands at school and asked them a question on his own. Wen Mo turned around and said that he was terrible with directions and would probably get lost if he didn't come to school for the summer.
Thinking about it now, I find it a little funny. If you're going to hold hands, just hold hands. What's the point of hiding it? It doesn't matter whether you make up a reason or not.
Uncle Zhang could tell at a glance that the girl was closer to the boy, even though she was rather introverted and shy.
"Ahem... I was just joking with you last time, don't mind," Wen Mo explained awkwardly, giving an unnatural smile.
"Alright, I didn't ask that many questions. You two should hurry back to the classroom, or the morning classes will probably be over soon."
Uncle Zhang yawned and walked to the school gate to open it. It would be lunch break soon, so he opened the gate just in time.
"It's fine if you two are close, I didn't say anything, did I?" Uncle Zhang said in a very easygoing tone as he opened the school gate. "Take good care of her."
"Okay." Wen Mo replied, and slowly left with Xia Lian. When they were a little distance from the school gate, he relaxed and smiled. "See? We're perfectly normal. Uncle Zhang also thinks there's nothing wrong with us holding hands this time."
"Yes, Uncle Zhang is a very nice person."
Xia Lian held his hand and nodded like a chick pecking at rice.
There's no rule that cousins can't hold hands, so they're perfectly normal, well... that's what Wenmo thinks, although there's some truth to it.
Wen Mo silently repeated "We are innocent" to himself, clearly still resentful about being identified as "in a relationship" by his phone a few days ago.
As long as the person involved has no objection, it's fine to guide them from one year old to one hundred years old.
The two walked one after the other in the teaching building, turning their heads to look around. Whenever they encountered a familiar teacher or school staff member, Wenmo would greet them with a smile.
The students in the classroom began to get restless, staring intently at the wall clock and silently counting down the days until the end of get out of class.
At the corner, a female teacher carrying many books was panting heavily as she struggled to move towards the office door, walking with great difficulty.
Why is Teacher Li carrying so many books?
Teacher Li had taught Wen Mo's class before and was quite familiar with every student in the class.
"Wenmo? You're just in time! Give me a hand, this pile of books is killing me...!"
Seeing this, Wen Mo rushed over to help carry most of the books, leaving only a small portion in Teacher Li's hands.
With her hands feeling much lighter, Teacher Li breathed a sigh of relief and nodded. "If you have nothing else to do later, please help me move these books to another place."
"I have something to do, I have to go to morning reading class later." Wen Mo said seriously, holding his books, but he still walked out steadily.
"Come on, it's almost noon and you're still having morning reading class." Teacher Li smiled and rolled her eyes at him. "Before, you either slept on your desk during morning reading class or hummed songs while everyone else was reading."
"Huh? You knew that? I thought no one heard me humming..."
"At least I taught your class before."
Seeing the two people in front of her walk forward, Xia Lian followed quietly beside them, then obediently stretched out her hands, indicating that Wen Mo and Teacher Li should also share some of the burden with her.
"No need for help, you can just go back to the classroom." Wen Mo said as she walked, then turned around and asked, "Teacher Li, is there anything else after we move this?"
"It's almost noon, help me organize these books again in a bit."
"Huh? Then I won't eat lunch?"
"Oh, okay, I'll treat you to a meal, you won't go hungry."
Seeing that the teacher had finished speaking, Wen Mo, who had originally planned to have lunch with Xia Lian, had no choice but to give up.
It shouldn't be a problem to let my cousin and her friends have lunch together once in a while.
Seeing this, Xia Lian lowered her eyes in disappointment, but quickly regained her spirits and raised her head to say goodbye to the two people in front of her in a crisp voice, "Goodbye Wen Mo, goodbye Teacher Li too."
"Okay, you can go back to the classroom first. I have something to say to the class this afternoon." Teacher Li smiled and nodded at her.
After saying that, Xia Lian slowly left.
"You know Xia Lian?" Wen Mo asked, a little curious, seeing that the two had greeted each other earlier.
"I'm teaching a new first-year high school student now, and I'm their homeroom teacher," Teacher Li replied casually. "What's your relationship with that girl?"
"Cousins".
"Don't lie to me, cousins aren't that close." Teacher Li clearly didn't believe her, laughing heartily. She had seen Xia Lian looking reluctant to part ways earlier.
Even if the two of them were really dating, she didn't think it mattered. She knew Xia Lian's grades and was familiar with Wen Mo's abilities.
If it doesn't affect your studies, talk about it however you like.
"No, you've misunderstood. We really are cousins," Wen Mo said helplessly. "There's no need for me to lie to you. Besides, when have I ever been in a relationship before?"
After three years of study, I realized that all the teachers at this school are so unprofessional.
