A story of mutual crushes and reuniting after a long separation, mainly set on campus. It's a sweet romance.
Su Xun falls in love with a boy, only to discover that the boy likes her too.<...
Huaicheng is famous for its fireworks. Starting five years ago, a large-scale fireworks display has been held every New Year's Eve. The location is on the banks of the Sangshui River, which runs through the entire city. At that time, tens of thousands of fireworks are lit up at the same time, illuminating the entire sky and creating a spectacular sight.
Although Su Xun was from Huaicheng, he had never seen such a grand spectacle, which he found regrettable.
This year was different. After the campus art gala, on the way back to the dormitory, Gan Tang stopped Su Xun and asked her if she wanted to see the fireworks display the next day. Su Xun had never seen one before, so she happily agreed.
"Why don't you invite Pei Ke along tomorrow night?" Gan Tang thought to herself.
“It’s just the two of us going, and we’re inviting him along, isn’t that a bit inappropriate…” Although Su Xun hadn’t experienced these things before, he knew that someone would feel uncomfortable in such an eerie situation.
Gan Tang turned her head expressionlessly and looked at Su Xun: "Who said it was just the two of us?"
"You..." Su Xun paused, somewhat surprised, "You have a new boyfriend?"
"Don't overthink it. He's just my cousin. He's been visiting me for the past few days. I'll take him out for a walk tomorrow."
"Oh, I see." She said somewhat dejectedly.
Gan Tang really didn't want to spend her time on this right now, and hoped that what she had just said hadn't reminded her of those painful memories. However, she needed to think carefully about how to invite Pei Ke out with her.
After quickly washing up, she climbed into bed, pulled her phone out from under her pillow, and planned to ask now, in case they had other plans by tomorrow.
She clicked on Pei Ke's profile picture and lay on the bed editing a message.
"Pei Ke, are you home yet?"
A roommate was drying her half-wet hair with a towel. As I passed her bed, I saw Su Xun looking at her phone with a smile on her lips. I then "generously" tossed the towel over my shoulder and leaned half my body over her.
"Su Xun, who are you chatting with? You're laughing so happily."
A few drops of water dripped from the tips of her hair, landing right on Su Xun's shoulder, seeping through the thin nightgown, and a slight coolness spread across her skin.
She turned around and moved the phone further away, saying, "Don't look."
Seeing Su Xun's reluctant expression, the man shrugged indifferently and walked away in his slippers.
My phone vibrated: "Just got home."
He felt his phone vibrate as soon as he reached his front door. He took it out to check after unlocking the door and going inside, which delayed him by a minute or two.
Su Xun: "Hmm, I wanted to ask if you're free tomorrow night." After seeing the reply, Su Xun sent another message.
Pei Ke: "There was some a moment ago, but not anymore."
Su Xun: "?"
What a coincidence!
Pei Ke: "Because I'm going to see fireworks with you, I probably won't have time."
Su Xun: "How did you know I was going to say that?!"
Pei Ke: "Maybe I'm just smarter."
He didn't turn on the light after entering the room; a smile played on his lips in the darkness, a hint of pleasure surfacing in his eyes. I'd heard her complain before about not going to the fireworks display every year, her tone full of resentment. I'd also heard her mention it a few days ago, so I made a note of it.
This person is so cautiously asking me if I have time tomorrow night; they probably want to watch the fireworks.
The fireworks display only happens once a year, so there were a lot of people out after dinner that day, all wanting to find a good spot to enjoy the best viewing angle.
So when Su Xun and his group arrived at the Sangshui River, it was already a very crowded scene.
As night fell, a cold crescent moon still hung in the dark blue sky, creating a stark contrast with the surrounding noise.
The area was crowded with people, vendors holding up glowing balloons, and the sounds of children crying and elderly people arguing over seats filled the air—it was quite a lively scene.
At this moment, looking at the little boy next to me who had been clamoring to buy balloons the whole way, I suddenly felt a headache coming on.
"Gantang, I originally thought your cousin wasn't much younger than us."
It's hard to believe that it's a five or six-year-old child who's interested in those glowing balloons.
“I originally thought he would behave better.” A crack appeared on Gan Tang’s usually expressionless face.
This little devil is quiet and well-behaved at home, and he even sweetly calls her "sister." That's why she wanted to bring him out to play. But as soon as they stepped out the door, his devilish side was revealed. All along the way, he kept asking for snacks or wanting to go to the bathroom, and now he's staring at the balloons and won't move.
She felt extremely regretful!
"I'm sorry, I didn't expect this brat to be so troublesome." She said apologetically to Pei Ke and Su Xun while holding the child's hand.
Su Xun gently stroked the child's hair, which was soft and comfortable, and shook her head to indicate that she didn't mind.
Pei Ke, standing nearby, was not in such a good mood.
He thought he was going out with Su Xun alone and had been secretly looking forward to it all day. When he arrived at the agreed place with a secret and happy feeling, he almost couldn't keep his composure when he saw Gan Tang and a child walking towards him.
We agreed to watch the fireworks together! Weren't we supposed to be watching them together?
It felt as if I had been deceived.
The dissatisfaction on someone's face was becoming increasingly difficult to conceal.
"Sister, I need to go to the bathroom again." The child looked up, tugged at Gan Tang's clothes, and looked pure and innocent.
If she hadn't already witnessed the devilish side of this brat, she probably would still think he was the good boy at home. Now, being stared at by those innocent and naive eyes again, Gan Tang just wanted to strangle her naive self from back then.
He sighed resignedly, turned to the other two and said, "You heard it too, I'll take him to the restroom first."
