Chapter Thirty: Awkward

"What's wrong with you now? Let me make it clear first, I never borrowed money from you." Su Xun said with a serious face, but after saying this, he couldn't help but break down and burst out laughing.

I pretended not to know anything, but that strange feeling in my heart came back.

He turned his head away, not wanting to answer.

And he decided not to speak to her for a while.

Seeing that the person seemed unwilling to talk to her, Su Xun felt bored and took out her English textbook to prepare for morning reading.

Su Xun quickly realized that something was wrong, and it was very wrong.

He didn't speak to her for the next day, and responded coldly to her greetings. Most strangely, the usually diligent Pei Ke surprisingly missed his homework!

During the afternoon break, Su Xun collected yesterday's homework as usual. When she got Pei Ke's, the guy's face kept turning from black to red, and anyone who didn't know better would think he was performing a face-changing act.

"Hey, even if you don't know what I did to make you angry, you still have to hand in this geography homework." Su Xun couldn't help but speak up when he saw that the person in front of him didn't seem to be moving.

"I didn't write it down, just write my name down." He sighed and replied indifferently.

Last night's love letter made him so angry that he completely forgot about his homework. He washed up, rolled into bed, and went straight to bed.

His face couldn't help but darken at the thought of it.

He felt even more ashamed for missing his homework for the first time, especially since it was because of such a trivial matter.

Su Xun was so shocked by "I didn't do it" that his eyes almost popped out. He had been collecting homework for so long, and this was the first time he had encountered someone who hadn't done their homework and was so self-righteous.

"Are you sick? That shouldn't be the case. How about I go with you to the infirmary?" As she spoke, Su Xun tugged at Pei Ke's sleeve, intending to take him to the infirmary to see if he was sick. Unless he was sick and feeling unwell, she couldn't think of any reason why Pei Ke wouldn't do his homework.

"It's none of your business. Just write it down." Hearing this made him even angrier, so he slapped away the outstretched hand and spoke fiercely.

It seems this person has no intention of admitting it.

"Don't meddle in other people's business in the future." She would do whatever others asked of her, even agreeing to deliver love letters for people.

"Are you crazy?" Su Xun felt uncomfortable that his concern was being taken as meddling, so he picked up his homework and headed to the office.

He had already given such an obvious hint, yet he still pretended not to know, which made the man's expression even worse.

For the next few days, neither of them spoke a word to the other. Even though they were sitting together, it was as if there was an icy barrier between them.

The first to notice were the classmates sitting in front of and behind them. They usually seemed to get along well; Pei Ke often tutored Su Xun without showing any impatience, and the two would often joke and playfully tease each other. But these past few days, something seemed to have happened; they wouldn't even exchange a glance.

Someone tried to mediate, asking if they had argued, but neither of them said a word. The person who tried to reconcile them had no choice but to give up and let them be.

The final exams were just a few days away. Everyone happily finished their exams, packed their things, and went home for winter break.

In other words, their relationship showed no signs of improving until the winter break.

In fact, Su Xun couldn't quite explain what she was insisting on. If it was because her good intentions were being taken for granted, she wouldn't be angry anymore. Pei Ke always acted strangely, as if she had done something terribly wrong to him.

She suddenly remembered that Tang Shi and Pu Xiaochuan had also had a conflict last time, which lasted for a long time without being resolved, but they eventually made up. She decided to ask Tang Shi what Pu Xiaochuan had said to her last time, and the two of them talked alone for a while and then made up as if nothing had happened.

After all, this matter can't be dragged on like this forever.

Without further ado, since it was already winter break, Su Xun called Tang Shi and invited her out to her usual milk tea shop.

"Why did you suddenly want to call me out today? I thought you were going to stay home and die." Tang Shi was puzzled. Su Xun always liked to stay at home during holidays, saying that holidays were personal time and he should spend them alone. He rarely went out with them.

Su Xun ordered a hot, full-sugar pearl milk tea as usual. After taking a big sip and feeling the sweetness fill her mouth, she said, "It's nothing really, but it's quite troublesome."

"Speak properly."

"Okay, Pei Ke and I have run into some problems, and I'd like to ask you for some advice."

"What experience could I possibly have? You've probably asked the wrong person."

"No, no, didn't you have a little conflict with Pu Xiaochuan last time?"

When the topic came up, Tang Shi's eyes darted around, "So, they just made up like that?"

"Yes, how did you make up?" Seeing Tang Shi's hesitant manner, Su Xun became somewhat anxious.

"We just had a good talk, and once we clarified things, the misunderstanding was cleared up," Tang Shi explained vaguely, biting her straw.

"that's all?"

"Of course. Su Xun, you didn't call me out today just for this, did you? You heartless bastard." Tang Shi suddenly raised her voice and looked up at Su Xun.

"Hehehe, of course not~ We haven't gone out to play in a long time. What do you want to do today? I'll go with you." Su Xun did feel a little guilty. He had been busy with his studies these days and hadn't asked Tang Shi to go out to play for a long time.

"That's more like it."

Afterwards, the two went to some boutiques together and bought some sparkly jewelry and other things, mainly because Tang Shi liked them. Su Xun accompanied her the whole time. Then they went to buy some new clothes, since it was almost the New Year.
