Gu Yiliu transmigrated into the body of a forestry police officer in the 1980s, who was assigned to a grassroots position after graduation. He also bound a 'Police Case System'. The system ...
Chapter 17 Couple's Screening Room - Remember It Quickly
Transferred before the internship period is over?
Gu Yiliu hadn't considered the transfer. She felt she was fine at the outpost, patrolling the mountains and rescuing animals every day.
Before Gu Yiliu could speak, Bai Weigang, who was standing next to him, became agitated and pointed at Han Yi, asking, "Who are you! Why are you in such a hurry to poach people from our bureau!"
"Director Bai, hello, my name is Han Yi, we were classmates at the First-Class Police Academy." Han Yi greeted him with a smile, while subtly taking a step back. Bai Weigang's finger was practically pointing at his eyes.
"A classmate from police academy?" Bai Weigang looked him up and down suspiciously, then suddenly said, "You like Xiao Gu, right? It's obvious, your eyes are practically glued to her."
Han Yi was taken aback, smiled, nodded in agreement, and then looked at Gu Yiliu.
The latter turned his head away, avoiding eye contact with him.
The man paused for a moment, but quickly composed himself.
"Let me tell you, you're not allowed to let personal feelings affect your work!" Bai Weigang warned in a low voice. "Don't mention the transfer again, and don't force anyone you like. You have to pursue them gradually. Xiao Gu is doing very well at the outpost."
Han Yi nodded. In fact, he knew that Gu Yiliu would not come to work at the police station. He didn't know about the future, but at least he didn't want to now.
He simply wanted to communicate and interact with her more.
Han Yi stared at the movie ticket in his hand, lost in thought. After a long while, he handed it over.
Han Yi was about to leave after handing over the movie tickets when Bai Weigang said goodbye first, "I suddenly remembered I have something to do, so I'll go first. You guys chat."
He kept his hand outstretched, glancing at the movie tickets and then at Gu Yiliu. Now it was just the two of them, and Gu Yiliu hadn't left. A surge of hope welled up inside him again. "...Are you in a hurry to go back?"
Gu Yiliu shook his head.
"Going to the movies?"
What movie?
"A foreign film, which You Guang said was very good."
Gu Yiliu had nothing to do, and she was actually in a pretty good mood today. She had paid back half of her tuition, and Dian Dian had gone to advance to the next level. She was looking forward to Dian Dian's advancement. "Then let's go take a look."
The man smiled at her, "Let's go then."
The movie theater viewing area was on the second floor of the department store. Han Yi led the two of them to the movie theater on the second floor.
After queuing to have their tickets checked, the ticket clerk asked them if they wanted tea service.
"Can I add tea?" Gu Yiliu asked curiously.
The ticket clerk nodded. "Adding tea will cost an extra 6 cents. You can get one more tea refill during the meal. Our cinema will also give you a complimentary snack. Would you two like some?"
Gu Yiliu and Han Yi both fell silent after hearing this. Gu Yiliu looked at Han Yi, who in turn looked at her. A private tea and screening room? From their bewildered expressions, they knew the other didn't quite understand this.
Gu Yiliu handed the decision to Han Yi: "Do you want to add it?"
Han Yi glanced at her and said to the ticket clerk, "Add two tea services, one tea and one plain water will do."
The ticket seller nodded and dutifully asked again, "Okay, would you two like a large or a small screening room? Our cinema has two large screening rooms and two small screening rooms. Would you prefer a large or a small screening room?"
The two exchanged another glance. Han Yi gestured for Gu Yiliu to make the decision. Gu Yiliu thought for a moment and said, "How about the smaller screening room then?"
The ticket clerk smiled slightly, stamped the tickets, and returned them to them. These tickets would need to be verified after the movie ended. "Okay, I'll take you there now. Please follow me."
When they arrived at the screening room, the two were stunned.
Because the small screening room in front of them was not the same as the small screening room they knew.
"Only two seats?"
The ticket seller smiled and nodded, "That's right. The other screening room has 5 seats, which are usually booked by families. We usually sell 2-seat rooms to couples in love. I saw that you two were together, so I recommended the 2-seat screening room first."
Upon hearing "couples in love," Han Yi raised an eyebrow slightly and couldn't help but look at Gu Yiliu.
Gu Yiliu: "..." This is called a 2-seat screening room, but if you change the name, it's just a private cinema.
Seeing the two people's different expressions, the ticket seller's heart skipped a beat. "Could it be that I'm seeing things? Are you two not a couple?"
Gu Yiliu countered with a question, "What do you think?"
The ticket seller listened and began to observe them openly. Gu Yiliu watched her actions with a helpless expression.
Sure enough, the ticket seller nodded the next second, "They look like a couple. The man is handsome and the woman is beautiful. They're comparable to Hong Kong and Taiwan stars."
Han Yi chuckled softly. He was in a good mood. He put his arms around Gu Yiliu's shoulders, gestured for the ticket seller to bring over tea and snacks, and then led her into a small private box in the screening room.
The small private room contains a sofa, a table, and a screen for projecting movies.
“I should have thought of that,” Gu Yiliu said, glancing at someone and scoffing, “Did you know this all along?”
Han Yi assured, "I really didn't expect that. Think about it," he said, taking out the movie ticket, "Look, this is such a proper ticket. I thought the small screening room was just a little small, maybe only seating a hundred or so people. Who knew that movie theaters would come up with all sorts of tricks to attract customers."
The ticket seller quickly returned with tea and snacks, then projected the movie onto the screen for them. "I'll be right outside the door. If you want more tea, just call me when you open the door," she said before leaving.
Gu Yiliu and Han Yi were left sitting there, looking at each other awkwardly.
Fortunately, the movie started soon.
With a movie to watch, things weren't so awkward. Gu Yiliu poured himself a cup of tea, then opened a packet of dried plums, occasionally eating one.
In the cramped space, Han Yi couldn't sit still. He leaned lazily against the armrest of the sofa, sitting crookedly, his eyes on the screen in front of him, but his mind had already wandered away.
He could hear Gu Yiliu munching on dried fruit like a squirrel, and his gaze couldn't help but fall on her.
Gu Yiliu was already leaning back on the other end of the sofa, lazily eating a dried plum. The movie had already started, but she didn't actually know what it was about.
She couldn't concentrate on reading. So she kept eating. Noticing Han Yi's gaze, she held up a dried plum and asked him if he wanted some.
Han Yi was about to say he wouldn't eat, but he stopped abruptly and said, "Eat."
Gu Yiliu held up a dried plum, gesturing for him to come and take it. Han Yi raised an eyebrow, stood up, and reached out to her.
A hand gently grasped Gu Yiliu's wrist.
Gu Yiliu looked up at him. "What are you so nervous about?" Han Yi chuckled, took the dried plum from her hand with his other hand, and popped it into his mouth.
Gu Yiliu realized that he was being played.
Han Yi, seemingly oblivious to her angry glare, quickly finished the preserved plum in his mouth, spat out the pit, and asked her, "It's a bit salty. Do you like it saltier?"
Han Yi looked at Gu Yiliu's profile, smiled, and analyzed to himself, "You like strong-flavored food, so you probably like salty food."
Gu Yiliu ignored him, staring at the screen. The actors were all foreigners, and she had little interest. Coupled with Han Yi's nagging, she even felt drowsy, and to stay awake, she kept eating dried plums.
My mouth was dry after eating for a while.
"Are you thirsty?" Han Yi had been watching her eat and could clearly sense that she didn't want to eat anymore.
He handed him a glass of water.
Gu Yiliu took the cup and drank it down in one gulp, which finally made his dry, salty throat feel a little better.
"Are you feeling better?" Gu Yiliu put down his water glass, glanced at him, and said in a bad mood.
"Can you shut up and watch the movie properly?"
Han Yi smiled and agreed, then shifted his gaze from her to the curtain.
After Gu Yiliu finished speaking, he also looked at the curtain.
Upon seeing this, the two were both stunned. In the movie, a man and woman were passionately kissing, their gestures intense and fervent.
The cramped space was filled with the actors' ambiguous breathing.
Han Yi's eyes widened in surprise.
He turned to look at Gu Yiliu. The latter looked at him too, then jumped aside, moving away from him.
Han Yi's face darkened. He went against her wishes and moved closer to her, sitting next to her while giving her some space. But there was no way to hide anymore; the only way to avoid her was to get up and walk around her.
"Why are you hiding?"
"Needless to say, I'm avoiding you." But there's no way to avoid you now. After Gu Yiliu finished speaking, she looked up at the curtain and watched the two actors' performance. Suddenly, a scene flashed through her mind. It happened very quickly, but she still managed to see what she was doing.
"..."
Gu Yiliu stared intently at the curtain.
The actors in the movie had both collapsed onto the bed.
Another memory flashed through her mind: she saw herself push someone down, and the person she pushed down was...
She suddenly reached out and grabbed Han Yi's shirt at the chest.
Han Yi looked at her in surprise.
"That night, did I...?" Gu Yiliu made a pushing motion, "...push you."
Han Yi looked at her suspiciously, scrutinizing every expression on her face. "You remember?"
Gu Yiliu shook his head, "It just feels a little familiar."
She let go of his hand as she spoke. Han Yi looked down at the wrinkled clothes on his chest, silently smoothed them out, and said softly, "I thought you remembered."
Han Yi was a little disappointed that she didn't remember. But then he thought it was okay that she didn't remember.
He looked at the screen; the scene was beautifully shot. He watched it coldly. If he had to rate this movie, he could only give it 5 points because he was in a bad mood. He looked down at Gu Yiliu.
He suddenly remembered the night of their graduation banquet. He was eating and chatting with his roommates when she, drunk, came over to toast them. Then, unable to stand, she sat on his lap, kissing and biting him. In the end, she accused him of taking liberties with her, pushing and hitting him.
There's no point in arguing with a drunkard. Arguing will only push him further.
The other person was looking at him. So she caught him looking at her.
Why are you looking at me?
"I was thinking about how you forcibly kissed me last time." Han Yi finished speaking, then glanced at her indifferently. "What are you looking at me for?"
"...I saw a few more images." When Gu Yiliu was looking at him just now, several strange yet familiar images appeared in his mind.
"Oh? Do you want me to help you remember? Maybe it will help you recall it." Han Yi really didn't expect that watching a movie would have this effect. "I didn't do anything that day. On the contrary, I had to hold you to prevent you from falling and sitting on the ground."
Han Yi met her gaze and said, his eyes unconsciously falling on her moist lips. He coughed lightly, "However, you were quite brave, biting my lip until it bled. I still really want you to regain your memory so I can interview you. Were you playing a dare, or were you simply drunk? How could you leave school the next day with a clear conscience? Would you not remember anything if you were drunk?"
"I never expected to run into you here," Han Yi said, his voice filled with resentment and grievance. He reached out and gently pinched her chin, making Gu Yiliu look at him. "I take back what I said earlier about it being okay if you can't remember. You'd better remember quickly, or I'll suffer alone." Though it was painful, Han Yi didn't hate it.
What if I can't remember?
Han Yi chuckled coldly, "How did the actors in the movie act?"
