Searching for the truth amidst the fog,
Tracking down the murderer through danger,
Born for truth, dying for truth.
Mu Jiang walked to Ouyang's room with the documents: "Knock, knock, knock!" "This is the land that Sheng Group has set its sights on. I heard they're going to build a golf course."
"Golf course?" Ouyang took the document from him. "How many other people are vying for this piece of land?"
"There are two other companies: a cosmetics company that wants to build a large factory here, and a real estate company that wants to build high-end villas."
"It seems like we can reap the benefits without having to do anything." Ouyang checked the time. "Ji Ou and Tang He are going mountain climbing today. Judging by the time, they should have already left."
"What do you want?" Her injury hadn't healed yet, so she couldn't do such a dangerous sport. "I'll send someone to watch over it personally."
Mu Jiang failed to convince Ouyang, so she still went up the mountain with simple equipment.
Xia Yue, who was in a meeting, saw Mu Jiang coming back from the hotel and said, "We'll drive here first."
After everyone left, Mu Jiang said, "She went up the mountain by herself!"
"What?" Xia Yue slammed the table. "How could you let her go alone? Do you think the people at the detective agency are all idiots? Now we finally know the conflict between Sheng Group and the detective agency. Now you let Ouyang go, isn't it just letting them know that she's not dead?"
"She wanted to go on her own. I tried to stop her, but she insisted on doing so."
"No matter what method you use, you must bring her back to me."
Seeing that he lost his temper, Mu Jiang left the company. He wanted to bring Ouyang back before Ji Ou and the others ran into her.
Ouyang had already taken a shortcut up the mountain from the other side, which would allow him to catch up with them quickly and avoid a collision with them.
A mountainside courtyard held a distant location, where Ji Ou and Tang He were headed. They ascended the mountain, one after the other, each with their own agenda. Inside the mountainside courtyard lived an elderly man, Tang He's former teacher, who had taught him how to survive in this complex environment. Ji Ou, however, had his own agenda: he wanted to meet this man because he had valuable insights.
Ouyang's path was dangerous, and she nearly fell off the precarious cliff several times. Mu Jiang, like her, chose the most dangerous shortcut. He walked quickly and caught up with Ouyang just halfway up the mountain: "Come back with me."
"I must go up the mountain." In fact, in addition to Ji Ou and the others, she also had her own purpose. She also wanted to meet the mysterious old man.
Mu Jiang grabbed her hand and said, "Brother Xia Yue said you can't go up the mountain. Ji Ou and Tang He will kill you. You just escaped death, do you want them to kill you again?"
As the two struggled, Ouyang rolled down the hillside and almost hit a tree: "Ouyang!" Mu Jiang threw down his backpack and ran down, "Ouyang, Ouyang?" He patted her face and awakened some consciousness.
Her neck was twisted, and pain radiated through her nerves. Enduring the pain, she slowly walked forward. Within a few steps, she collapsed to the ground again.
"Alright!" Mu Jiang felt that he couldn't stop her. Instead of letting her go up the mountain alone, it would be better for him to accompany her in case of any accidents. "Come with me."
He pulled her up, step by step. The thorns along the road had already scratched Ouyang's coat. It would take about three hours to climb the mountain from the man-made road, but only two hours from this undeveloped road.
"Can you take a break?" Mu Jiang sat on a nearby rock. "If you keep walking like this, I'm afraid you won't be able to handle it."
"Need not."
Mu Jiang could never defeat her stubbornness, so he could only carry her on his back to save her energy.
Sure enough, at the same time they climbed up the mountain from the back mountain, Ji Ou and his friends also reached the top of the mountain from the main road.
Ouyang and Mu Jiang leaned against the back wall of the villa. After Ji Ou and Tang He went in, they climbed over the backyard wall.
They entered the first floor and found an empty room behind a screen. It looked like no one had cared about it for a long time. They could hear the conversation between the three people outside the screen clearly.
"Teacher," Tang He said, "There's a development zone recently, and I heard you have a piece of land there."
"Before you came, several groups of people had come here to look for me, an old man." The old man didn't seem to care about the question he mentioned. "No matter who it is, I have one thing to say: whoever can help me find the lost jade pendant will receive the land as a reward."
Ji Ou also spoke up, "The jade pendant that the old man mentioned must have been lost when your son had a car accident five years ago."
"It seems your detective agency has done quite a bit of research," the old man said. "That's right. My son died that year. That jade pendant was a charm his mother gave him, but after the car accident, it wasn't on him."
"I think you want us to find the murderer who killed your son?"
The old man looked at Ji Ou, who seemed to know a lot. "They all say it was an accident, but I don't believe it. I've asked many people to investigate this matter, but they all came back empty-handed. I'm afraid there are people from your detective agency involved."
"Teacher," Tang He said, "We are here for this matter as well. Of course, we hope you can provide us with more clues."
"Mr. Ji, everyone says you're very capable," the old man said. "I suppose there's nothing you don't know, right?"
"Thank you for your praise, old sir," Ji Ou said. "Investigating this matter is not difficult at all, but I would like to ask you a question. Please forgive me."
"you say."
"Is your son born to you and your wife?"
