Chapter 75: Leaving the Newborn Daughter

The laws here are not perfect. All she can do is gain the trust of the tribal elders, use her strengths to help them obtain information, and avoid blackmail by Western speculators.

The family, who are separated from each other, are still struggling to survive.

Ouyang Zishan grew up gradually. When she just entered middle school, she was already a head taller than Xia Yue. Xia Yue was the child of Wang Yao and her husband Xia Yu, and also her second child.

Jin Lu was Wang Yao's first child. Fifteen years old, he was three years older than Ouyang Zishan and two years older than Xia Yue. The locust trees at school were in full bloom, and Jin Lu took his family for a stroll around the campus.

"Jin Lu, which class are you in?" Ouyang Zishan asked.

"Class 1, Grade 7," he said.

Wang Yao knocked her head: "Call me brother at school."

"No one would believe me even if I called out," Ouyang Zishan said, chewing gum. "Look, Jin Lu's last name is Jin, Xia Yue's last name is Xia, and mine is Ouyang. Who would believe we are brother and sister?"

"You kid!" Xia Yu said lovingly, "Go see which class you and Xia Yue are in."

"Oh!" She put her arm around Xia Yue's neck and walked towards the bulletin board. Xia Yue's height was not too short, but because Ouyang Zishan was much taller than his peers, he looked smaller and was always suppressed by her.

After they came back from looking at the bulletin board, Xia Yue looked a little unhappy: "Mom and Dad, I'm in the same class with her again."

"What's wrong with being in the same class with me?" She pinched his ear, "I'm not a demon, why are you afraid of me?"

"I was wrong, isn't it okay that I was wrong?" I finally escaped from her hands, hid behind my brother, and looked at my mother very aggrieved.

"Okay, okay, on the first day of school, our whole family will go out for a meal," Wang Yao looked at them happily. This group of children finally grew up, especially Ouyang Zishan, who looked more and more like her parents. She was so beautiful that she couldn't even believe that she was raised by herself.

"Godmother, I want to eat hotpot!" Ouyang Zishan suggested. Since she was a child, Wang Yao taught her to call herself godmother and Xia Yu godfather. Over time, they got used to this name. Despite this, they still lived like a family.

"OK!"

Because their godfather and godmother had work to do, they quickly left after paying the bill, leaving the three of them alone in the hot pot restaurant. Seeing that she had already eaten a lot, Jin Lu reminded her, "Ouyang, stop eating! Be careful not to get acne again when you go back home."

She curled her lips and said, "Finally, my godmother also eats hot pot."

"You're the greediest person," Xia Yue laughed at her, "so my brother and I can't eat hotpot."

She stepped on Xia Yue under the table, hinting him to be careful with his words. She finally ordered an ice cream and followed them back, contentedly. Passing by the arcade, they were dragged in again. She was a master at games; even her godmother had praised her, saying she had inherited all of Mu Zishan's hobbies.

Jin Lu and Xia Yue, who were standing behind her, shook their heads. The three of them grew up together, but she was the only one who liked these seemingly childish things.

Jin Lu is the piano prince of the school, and Xia Yue has inherited the wisdom of his father who teaches at the university. She always ranks first in the school in every exam, and Shan likes to participate in various science competitions.

Jin Lu pulled her out of the game hall and stuffed her into a taxi. They still had to go and pick up the school uniforms that had just been customized for the semester.

The three of them arrived at the clothing store. Jin Lu was already very familiar with their boss, so he took their clothes and went straight into the changing room.

When they changed into their school uniforms and came out, they looked at each other. Ouyang Zishan made the boss's eyes light up: "So beautiful!"

It was also the first time that Jin Lu and Xia Yue discovered that she was actually more beautiful than they had imagined, and revealed some elegance that they usually did not notice. Although their mother had always emphasized Ouyang Zishan's beauty at home, perhaps it was at this moment that they truly realized it.

"Does it look good?" She was a little dissatisfied. "Isn't the skirt too long? It covers up my long legs!" She deliberately stood in front of Xia Yue. "This way I can look taller."

Xia Yue rolled her eyes at her: "It's already very high, okay?"

"Not enough," she said, "my godmother said girls should be tall."

Jin Lu paid the money and took them out. Seeing the two people talking and laughing in front of him, he seemed to remember the scene of taking a bath with them when he was a child. He didn't expect that they had really grown up, and Ouyang had become the graceful lady in the poem.

After returning home, she went to the kitchen to pour some juice, then carried her backpack upstairs, turned on some music, and flipped through some books. The bookshelf was filled with original detective novels that her godmother had asked someone to bring back from abroad. When she was little, she often told herself stories about her mother, how she was a great and charming private detective, once known as Miss Detective.

My godmother said that my mother went to a faraway place to look for my father and entrusted herself to my mother. When she was little, she loved sleeping with these books in her arms, but gradually, she began to miss them less because this home gave her all the warmth.

Xia Yue pushed the door open and saw her lying on the bed. She said, "I'm here to borrow some books!"

"Um."

Seeing that she was unhappy again: "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," she stood up and threw the book in her hand to him, "Put it up there for me."

He put them back in their original order, then took out the book he wanted and turned to sit next to her: "Hey, do you miss your mom?"

"No." She held back her sniffle.

"You tricked me into holding the same book every time," he hugged her, "Aren't we all here with you?"

"I know," she pushed him away, "You're really annoying. I'm going to sleep."
