"I finally got a vacation, and you want me to spend it in a hotel?" Fu Shiqin retorted, dissatisfied.

Ling Jiao followed him into the hotel and shared her thoughts.

"You're not that interested in the aurora."

“Who said that? I like it to death,” Fu Shiqin said resolutely.

He wasn't really that interested in the aurora; he came purely because he liked it.

However, he wanted to accompany her to fulfill the wish she wanted to complete.

Ling Jiao was speechless and could only say...

"Okay, let's go together."

After they finished speaking, the two had breakfast together at the hotel, but the Western-style breakfast was obviously not as lavish as that in China.

After breakfast, Fu Shiqin drove Ling Jiao away from the hotel.

Ling Jiao got into the car, took out her phone, checked the map, and asked.

Where to go first?

“Just follow along. You can’t see the aurora during the day, but we can go to some fun places,” Fu Shiqin said as he drove. “The closest one is Thingvellir National Park. Want to go?”

There are no aurora borealis during the day, so it's impossible to just find a place and wait for the aurora to appear at night.

Fu Shiqin drove to the nearest Thingvellir National Park. The park is located at the junction of the Eurasian and American tectonic plates, where geological movements have created rift valleys, cliffs, lava plains, and a vast and desolate landscape.

Iceland is not a popular tourist destination, so there weren't many tourists. The two strolled leisurely in the park, first visiting the adorable Icelandic miniature horses, and finally stopping at the Silfra Crack to watch a group of diving enthusiasts go underwater.

Ling Jiao chatted with the people around her for a while, and looking at the clear lake water of the Silfra Crack, she was also eager to try it out.

"Shall we give it a try?"

Fu Shiqin shook his head firmly, "It's not something you can just try whenever you want. Unless you have a drysuit diving certification, we won't let you go into the water."

"How do you know so much?" Ling Jiao asked.

Even though it was his first time here, he seemed to know the way and the sights like he had been here many times before.

“My sister-in-law came before, that’s what she said,” Fu Shiqin said truthfully.

His sister-in-law and Yuan Meng used to be diving enthusiasts. They not only loved deep-sea diving, but also drysuit diving, especially diving in cold waters or icy lakes. She told him that the underwater blue hole in the Silfra Crack was particularly beautiful and that he should definitely go see it if he had the chance.

However, he didn't have the guts to go on the adventure.

The two left the park, passing rivers, glaciers, and lakes along the way, and finally arrived at the town of Vik.

After having a late lunch in town, we took a walk to the black sand beach behind the town.

Ling Jiao was thoroughly enjoying the view, but Fu Shiqin followed behind, shivering. Even his down jacket, designed to protect against the cold and wind, couldn't keep him warm here.

Finally, seeing that he was so cold he couldn't stand it, they decided to go back to the guesthouse to rest.

That evening, Fu Shiqin unsurprisingly caught a cold and developed a fever.
