Chapter 92 Bloody Combat Tutorial

The morning mist in northern Myanmar had not yet dissipated when Savika took Surishia to the border market.

The market was bustling with people, and the air was filled with the smell of grilled fish, spices and rust. Su Lixia was held by the wrist by him and walked through the crowd.

The vendors' stalls were filled with all sorts of bizarre things: dried lizards, wind chimes made from bullet shells, and brightly colored poppy honey.

"Try it." Savika suddenly handed over a string of roasted scorpions, the charred shells still steaming.

Su Lixia frowned and waved it away: "...No."

Savika chuckled and took a bite himself, the crispy shell crumbling between his teeth. "Coward."

Su Lixia stomped hard on his combat boots. Savika groaned and laughed even more happily. He lowered his head and bit her lips. "Wild cat claws are really sharp."

She pushed and took a few steps back, but he pulled her toward him, away from a vendor carrying a live snake.

"Don't run around. If you get lost here, you'll be sold to an underground brothel."

Su Lixia pursed her lips, her eyes drawn to the silversmith's stall on the roadside. A pair of earrings inlaid with malachite looked like two drops of solidified green tears.

Savika followed her gaze and threw a few Myanmar kyat notes to the stall owner: "Wrap it up."

"I don't want it..." Su Lixia raised her hand to stop him, but he stuffed the palm sugar cake into her hand again. The sugar was wrapped in banana leaves, and it burned her fingertips red.

Savika laughed maliciously, bit off half of her hand, and rubbed her fingertips with his fangs: "Is it sweet?"

Su Lixia's cheeks felt slightly hot, and she lowered her head to lick the candy. The sun had left her somewhat dazed, and she felt that this devilish boy was now just an ordinary boy next door.

The road back to the camp was quieter, the sunlight stretching the two people's shadows very long. Suddenly, there was a very light click of a gun being loaded.

"Bang!"

"Get down!"

Savika pulled Su Lixia behind him and stood in front of her. Blood instantly exploded on Savika's shoulder. He groaned, pulled out his pistol, and shot the attacker in the head with a backhand shot.

Su Lixia felt her hands were sticky, and the right shoulder of his military uniform was soaked with blood.

"Savika!" she exclaimed. "Why did you…"

Savika panted and chuckled: "Of course I have to protect my things myself."

Gunshots rang out, and Su Lixia was dragged by Savika behind a huge rock to hide.

Savika's breathing was eerily steady. He loaded the pistol with one hand and pressed the back of her head with the other: "Don't look up. They are Naga bastards."

Bullets whizzed past, and Su Lixia heard someone shouting in Burmese: "Kill that woman!"

Savika's eyes instantly turned sinister. He suddenly stood up and fired several shots in succession, and several dark figures fell to the ground one after another.

After the gunfire subsided, Savika covered his bleeding right shoulder and dragged Su Lixia away quickly, rushing all the way back to the military camp.

In the military camp's medical room, the military doctor was about to remove the bullet from Savika, but he raised his hand to stop him.

"Let her come." The bloody finger pointed at the pale Su Lixia.

The military doctor was stunned: "Sir, the bullet is stuck near the shoulder blade, and requires professional-"

"She's a medical student," Savika interrupted the medic, sweat dripping down his jaw and his lips turning pale from blood loss. "Isn't that right, little wildcat?"

The military doctor handed over the surgical instruments silently.

Su Lixia's hands were shaking so badly that the hemostat slipped from her grasp several times. "I haven't graduated yet... I've never operated on a real person before..."

Savika suddenly grabbed her hand and pressed it against the wound: "In northern Myanmar, living people are your teaching tools." Blood gushed out from between his fingers. He stared at Su Lixia with a terrifyingly bright look in his eyes. "Choose! Either save me or watch me die!"

Su Lixia gritted her teeth, took a deep breath, and forced herself to calm down. All the knowledge from books and anatomy lessons in medical school came flooding back to her.

"Flush with hydrogen peroxide..." Her voice was hoarse, "Prepare the sutures..."

The blade cut through his flesh, and Savika's muscles tensed instantly, but he didn't even make a sound.

As the blood-soaked bullet dropped onto the metal tray, Su Lixia's fingertips were still trembling. She bit her lower lip and continued to sew Savika up, moving as gently as possible, afraid of hurting him.

Until the last knot was cut, Su Lixia almost collapsed, and her tears finally fell on his naked back.

"Why are you crying?" Savika clasped her neck with his uninjured hand and placed a bloody kiss on her trembling eyelids. "Isn't it sewn well?"

Su Lixia heard the sound of her heart beating wildly, not because of fear, but because of something more complicated than Stockholm, which was penetrating into her bones with the warmth of northern Myanmar.
