Transmigrated into a fallen priest, Mark clutches the Forbidden Scripture that would make a saint’s face turn black in his left hand, and a cross blessed by the Abyss in his right.
When the H...
A distorted, purplish-black sky hung low, and murky demonic energy rolled like viscous waves across the scorched, cracked earth.
This is an area a hundred miles deep at the edge of the Demon Realm Rift, where the air is filled with sulfur, blood, and the desperate wails of ghosts.
The four members of Mark's team hid behind a mound of monsters they had just hunted, holding their breath.
“Sixth location,” Monica’s voice rang out through the team’s mental link. Her Eye of Appraisal pierced through the pervasive magical mist, scanning a relatively open scorched plain ahead.
"According to the map Ellen gave us and the previous patterns, the fleeing monsters will spread information about food like a plague. Those big guys hiding deep inside should be smelling it by now."
Enzo's thick fingers rubbed the rough handle of the runic hammer as he spoke in a deep, muffled voice:
"My hammer is itching for a fight! 783 lava demons and 765 dark trolls, I'm almost at legendary level! Mark, if you don't make any progress soon, I'll be too embarrassed to eat your cooking!"
His eyes gleamed with a molten fighting spirit as he proudly showed off his progress, adding a note to mark the post.
Of course, even though they acted so casually, they knew very well that the true terror of the abyss was far more than these marginal minions.
While waiting for her prey to come to her, Monica's fingertips glowed with a barely perceptible light from her Appraisal skill as she quickly scanned some special materials she had recently collected in the Demon Realm Abyss.
Looking at the several dark purple magical plants that emitted a strange and spicy aroma, and the several minerals that shimmered with an icy luster.
“'Abyssal Poisonous Flame Pepper,' 'Styx Crystal Salt,' 'Frost-Eroded Moss'... Mark, are you sure you want to do that?”
She glanced at Mark uncertainly, feeling that his ideas were somewhat unorthodox!
Even Anna, who was standing quietly to the side, gave Mark a strange look.
Mark leaned against a huge fossilized rib, feeling a warm sensation emanating from the deep cross necklace on his chest. Hearing Monica's words, he felt a surge of anticipation.
"Of course, it's my profession as a Soul Harmonizer that gave me this intuition. Since both professions can advance at the same time, why not give it a try?"
He could clearly feel the power within him, a fusion of his own origin and the magic of a mysterious being, emitting a low hum.
It was a primal craving for higher levels of food, a yearning for both magic and deliciousness.
He took a deep breath of the hot, polluted air, suppressed the fleeting, dark light in his eyes, and said in a deep voice:
“Our target is only a lower-level demon. Anna, you're in charge of the first strike; make sure to severely damage its mobility, then wait for Monica's news and carry it out. Enzo, you're in charge of controlling the situation and withstanding the pressure. Monica, you're in charge of finding the demon's weakness. I'll handle the cleanup.”
He paused, then looked at his companions, his eyes sharp and resolute:
"Remember, we're not Ellen. Don't try to get rich quick, especially you, Enzo! If it's a mid- or high-ranking demon god coming, we'll run away immediately!"
"Hey! Don't you trust my ability to escape?"
Enzo chuckled, picked up the rune hammer at his waist, and shook it. Don't let his extreme mutation fool you; he's a reckless man who charged head-on with the lava demon. When it comes to escaping, he's second to none!
Time slipped away in the oppressive wait.
The demonic energy surged, and soon after, the clamor of a large group of demons fleeing in terror could be heard from afar. But soon, an even more chilling silence enveloped the area.
The air seemed to freeze, even the howls of low-level monsters disappeared, leaving only the whistling of the demonic wind blowing through the gaps between the bones.
They've arrived.
A powerful pressure, a mixture of sulfur, the smell of mutton, and pure evil divinity, struck the four men like an invisible hammer.
The distant demonic mist churned violently, and a massive outline slowly emerged.
Its appearance resembles that of a wild goat.
But it's clear that the animals that could appear here at this moment are not docile herbivores.
The newcomer is a low-ranking demon god!
This lower-level demon god was nearly ten meters tall, covered with a thick, dark red keratinous layer that resembled burning embers. Every time its four hooves stomped on the ground, the scorched earth trembled, leaving marks like branding irons.
The enormous, curved, spiraling ram's horns looked as if they were cast from lava, with eerie green flames dancing at their tips.
Its head has only one huge vertical pupil that takes up most of its face, and deep within the pupil is a swirling abyss vortex that exudes a soul-stealing malice.
Beneath its thick neck, dense hair flowed like a waterfall of lava.
With just a silhouette, Monica immediately recognized its identity—the Molten Demon Sheep Kanos.
"Target confirmed, Kanos, a lower-level demon god, with skills including Molten Armor, Abyssal Gaze, and Trample Shock."
Monica's identification information was instantly shared with everyone in the team.
"roar--!!!"
Kanos let out a deafening roar, its single eye locking onto the Jingguan bunker, sensing the aura of the "little bug" that it both coveted and enraged.
The raging power of the demon god swept in like a tangible shockwave!
Lower-level demon gods are ultimately just lower-level demon gods; they are only slightly stronger than the legendary powerhouses of the Holy Dragon Continent.
Mere imposing presence is not enough to scare away Mark's squad, who are already halfway to becoming legends.
After all, they had all witnessed Alfonso, as a ninth-tier professional, instantly kill a legendary figure, and they had also witnessed Ellen, as a ninth-tier professional, plot to seize the divinity of a high-ranking demon god!
Mark and his team were confident that even if they couldn't compare to these two, they weren't far behind!
Even so, it wouldn't be easy for Mark's team to hunt down a lower-level demon god head-on.
It was at the very moment that Canos roared!
"Break!" Anna's cold voice was like the pronouncement of death.
A shadow arrow, condensed to its fullest extent, was silent yet faster than lightning!
It did not aim for Kanos's conspicuous, enormous single eye or his seemingly vulnerable throat.
Instead, it cleverly struck at the very weak point of magical energy flow at the joint of the Molten Armor just as Kanos raised his forelegs to launch a stomp!
Although Anna's Shadow Eye is not as good as Monica's Appraisal, she has an extraordinary fighting instinct, and this arrow was aimed at Kanos's weak point!
Pfft!
The annihilation power contained within the Shadow Arrows erupted!
A burst of light, a mixture of black smoke and dark red energy, suddenly erupted from the joint of Kanos's left foreleg, which was covered by thick molten armor!
It let out a painful, furious roar, its raised giant hoof lost its support, and its trampling momentum instantly collapsed. Its massive body staggered, and even the abyssal vortex in its single eye was momentarily disrupted.
"Well done!" Enzo roared, and like a cannonball, his rune-forged hammer, crackling with violent dark lightning, transformed him into a black and red dump truck, slamming into Kanos' exposed side due to his loss of balance!
"Stop right there!"
