Honey Grapefruit Candy (GD)

A big-shot and his young wife, tropes and subversions of tropes - when it comes to love, whoever falls first loses.

The first meeting:

From the female lead's perspective: Hmm, that ...

Family members' designated seats in the studio.

Family members' designated seats in the studio.

Married life didn't bring about any earth-shattering changes, but it was permeated with a warm sense of belonging in every detail. Su You remained the same young scholar who wielded great influence at the think tank, while G-Dragon continued to explore and break through in the world of music. But what was different was that they had quietly reserved a place for each other in their respective workspaces.

G-Dragon's personal studio, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

This studio, converted from a warehouse, retains the ruggedness of industrial style while showcasing the owner's taste in every detail. Expensive recording equipment, casually scattered vinyl records, and graffiti-like inspiration notes on the walls create a typical G-Dragon-style creative space.

However, observant people will notice that there is a unique area that has quietly appeared in the corner not far to the right of the console.

It was a luxuriously comfortable off-white cashmere armchair, much softer than the other cold, hard black chairs in the studio. Beside it stood an elegantly designed reading lamp, and a small, warm wool rug covered the floor. On a low table beside the sofa, several political science journals and economics books were neatly arranged, along with a delicate white porcelain mug—Su You's personal mug, humorously inscribed with "World's Best Economist," a birthday gift from G-Dragon.

This corner is the "family-only seating area" that everyone in the studio knows about.

"Is your sister-in-law coming today?" the new sound engineer asked his assistant in a low voice while adjusting the equipment.

The assistant glanced at the schedule: "Professor Su has an online meeting this afternoon that ends early, and she said she'd come over."

Sure enough, around four o'clock in the afternoon, the studio door was gently pushed open. Su You, dressed in a well-fitting business suit, had clearly just finished work at the think tank. She nodded and smiled at the people inside, then naturally walked to her designated corner.

G-Dragon was busy at the control panel, headphones on, his brow slightly furrowed, completely immersed in the world of mixing. Su You didn't disturb him; she simply put down her briefcase, sank into the comfortable sofa, took out the documents she hadn't finished reading, and began to read them by the warm light.

Occasionally, she would look up in G-Dragon's direction. He was always very focused when he worked, sometimes swaying gently to the rhythm, sometimes suddenly pressing the call button to make requests to the musicians in the recording studio. That radiance of being immersed in what he loved always captivated her.

After what seemed like an eternity, G-Dragon finally took off his headphones and let out a long sigh of relief. Almost instinctively, he immediately turned to look at that corner.

When he saw Su You sitting there quietly, her profile as she read with her head down, looking particularly soft under the light, a smile involuntarily appeared on his tense face.

"When did you arrive?" He got up and walked over, his voice hoarse from work.

Su You looked up and glanced at her watch: "It's been almost an hour. I didn't want to bother you since you were busy."

G-Dragon sat down naturally on her sofa armrest and reached out to ruffle her hair: "Wake me up next time you come."

"How can you work if you're awake?" Su You smiled and turned a page of the documents in her hand. "I'm doing very well here; it's very quiet."

That's true. The team members in the studio were already used to Su You's presence. She never bossed people around or tried to make her presence known. Most of the time, she would quietly stay in that corner, doing her own work or simply keeping them company. Her presence was like a stable and gentle current, changing the atmosphere of the entire studio.

Sometimes when G-Dragon gets stuck in a creative block and frantically scratches his head, he'll subconsciously look at her. And Su You only needs a reassuring look or to get up and pour him a glass of warm water to miraculously calm his anxiety.

"Brother Long's muse has arrived," the team members joked privately. "With his wife around, Brother Long's performance has become exceptionally stable."

Once, G-Dragon struggled with a melody until late at night, and Su You stayed with him in a corner the whole time. Later, he finally found the feeling he was looking for in the early hours of the morning, and excitedly turned around, only to find that Su You had fallen asleep on the sofa at some point, her documents had slipped onto the carpet, and the reading light was still on, casting a gentle halo on her face.

At that moment, G-Dragon's heart softened completely. He gently turned off the device, walked over, and carefully picked her up. Su You groggily woke up: "Is it over?"

"Mmm," he kissed her forehead, "let's go home."

Nowadays, the "family-only seating" has become an indispensable part of the studio. Sometimes, when Su You doesn't come, the team members feel uneasy: "I feel like something's missing since your wife isn't here today."

For G-Dragon, that corner is more than just a seat. It's his anchor point, a warm harbor he can look back on when he's sailing freely in the ocean of music. No matter how late he creates, no matter how turbulent his inspiration, he knows there's always a light shining for him, always someone there waiting for him to come home.

Just like now, he took Su You's hand and stood up: "We're done for work today, let's go eat at that Japanese restaurant you've been talking about for so long."

Su You smiled as she packed her things: "Finally decided to leave your precious mixing console?"

"Nothing I own can compare to you." G-Dragon naturally took her briefcase and said to everyone in the studio, "That's enough for today. Everyone, go home and get some rest."

Amidst the team members' good-natured laughter, he took her hand and led her out of the studio. The creamy white sofa stood quietly in the corner, awaiting its owner's next visit.
