Lin Yue, a medical slacker from Beijing Normal University's Medical Research Institute, was sucked into a strange door by a mysterious force just because she casually complained a few words.
As the echoes of the anti-entropy song faded across the multiverse, Lin Yue, Lu Li, and the calico cat found themselves in a starry sea dotted with shattered clocks. Each watch's dial held a different time scale, and some of the hands still moved counterclockwise, emitting wisps of dark purple entropic energy.
"These clocks are torn time anchors." Lu Li stretched out his finger to touch a pocket watch. As soon as the golden code touched the dial, it was entangled by some sticky force. "There is a residual aura of the entropy core, but..." His afterimage suddenly shook violently. "The direction of the energy fluctuation is wrong. These anchors seem to be deliberately arranged into some kind of array!"
The calico cat's pupils suddenly contracted to thin lines, and the gear collar around its neck emitted a shrill buzzing sound. It leaped up, shattering a suspended clock with its sharp claws. A faint blue light shot out from the cracks in the pendulum, condensing into a translucent humanoid shape in the air. "You're finally here," the blue figure's voice trembled like countless strings. "I am the last observer of the Guardians of Time, and I have been waiting for the bloodline's heir to restart the 'Music Box of Destiny.'"
Before he could finish his words, the entire starry sky suddenly flipped over, and the three of them fell into a vast mechanical palace constructed of bronze gears. Hundreds of glowing strings dangled from the dome, and the ground was engraved with the same seventeen-color star map as the one in Lin Yue's notebook. The observer's figure blended into the strings, and from deep within the palace came the sound of a music box, mingled with the harsh grinding of jamming gears.
"The explosion of the entropy core released the sealed 'narrative noise'." The observer's voice came from the strings, "These noises are corroding the music box of destiny. Once it stops completely, the timelines of all parallel universes will fall into chaos." Lin Yue's original time thread flew uncontrollably towards the strings, and the golden lines resonated with the strings. A picture flashed through her mind: in a steampunk universe, people used music to drive the city, but the entropy noise caused all the machines to run wild.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the quantum communicator, the mechanical lifeforms of Cybertron sent an urgent call for assistance. A flood of self-destruct programs suddenly appeared in their database, each one operating with an eerie rhythm, transforming binary code into all-consuming black musical notes. "The frequency of these notes..." Lu Li's afterimage frantically calculated, "is exactly the same as the narrative cacophony in the palace!"
A sudden burst of light erupted from the calico cat's gear-shaped collar, illuminating a battered music box in a corner of the palace. Its surface was covered in spiderweb-like cracks, and the music it should have been playing was distorted into a shrill cacophony. As Lin Yue approached, the liquid light of the seventeen-colored gemstones suddenly surged, flowing along the strings into the music box. Countless fragments of memory surged from the cracks, one of which made her pupils shrink. In the distant past, a girl in silver armor had embedded her heart into the music box, using her life force to maintain the balance of time in the universe.
"That was the first Guardian of Time." The Observer's voice was filled with sorrow. "She used a music box to seal the narrative noise, but the emergence of the Entropy Core disrupted the balance. Now, the purest narrative melodies of twelve civilizations are needed as the key."
Lin Yue immediately contacted empaths across the multiverse. In primitive tribes, shamans used bone flutes to play ancient melodies that resonated with nature; in the future, interstellar fleets transformed the energy of narrative missiles into healing light and sound; and tree-like civilizations inscribed songs of life within their tree rings... These melodies converged on a music box via a quantum communicator, but were swallowed by a sudden black note just as it was about to activate.
"Do you think this will succeed?" The cold electronic synthesized voice sounded again, and the palace's gears began to rotate in reverse. Twelve black beams of light rose from the ground. "The entropy core is just bait. The real killer move is to make the narrative power of all civilizations collapse in the purification process!"
Twelve robots emerged from the black beam of light. Crystals resonating with the music box were embedded in their chests. Their weapons continuously absorbed the purifying melody, transforming it into destructive energy. Lu Li's golden code transformed into blades of light and slashed at the robots, only to be shattered by the sonic waves released. The calico cat's geared collar glowed blue, forming a protective shield that barely resisted the encroaching black notes.
At the critical moment, Lin Yue's notebook suddenly combusted, and the light of the seventeen-colored gems resonated with the music box. She saw that deep in the memories of the first generation of guardians, there was a "silent movement" that had never been played - the ultimate melody that suppressed noise with absolute silence.
"Lu Li! Use your data code to create a sonic vacuum! Calico Cat, use the vibration frequency of your gear collar to disrupt the black musical notes!" Lin Yue inserted the original thread of time into the music box. "I will awaken the silent movement!" When the three combined their powers, the entire palace fell into an eerie silence. The raging black musical notes lost their power in the vacuum layer, and the robots' weapons began to disintegrate.
A silver light seeped from the cracks in the music box, and the shadowy figure of the First Guardian emerged. She removed her heart from the music box and handed it to Lin Yue: "Bloodline heir, use your empathic power to transform this heart into a harp string connecting all civilizations." Lin Yue took the heart, and the seventeen-colored lines resonated with it. Countless silver threads extended from the heart, entwining the twelve black beams of light.
As the first note of the silent movement rang out, the black pillar of light began to collapse, and the robot let out a resentful roar. The gears of the music box began to turn again, playing a pure narrative melody, and the corroded anchors of time began to heal. But just as victory seemed within reach, the palace suddenly shook violently, and the core crystal of the music box burst into a dazzling red light—the final form of narrative cacophony, a giant music box phantom composed of pure darkness, emerging from the void.
