12 Grimmauld Place, Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix.
Jian Yu glanced at Dumbledore who was reading the newspaper with great interest.
She wasn't sure whether she should remind him that he had the newspaper upside down.
But he seemed to be reading intently, as if he could understand some meaning from these upside-down English letters.
Perhaps this is a true master. Reading the newspaper upright is too easy for him, and he needs to give himself some difficulty and challenge.
Jian Yu thought so.
But ten minutes passed and Dumbledore had not turned a page of the newspaper in his hand.
She could only vaguely hear him mumbling words like "teaching quality", "one-year rotation", and "defense against dark magic".
She finally understood that although the other person's eyes were still reading the newspaper, his soul had already flown away for a while.
She was about to remind him to regain his consciousness, but she found that his hand holding the newspaper shook and an envelope fell out of it.
This seemed to cheer up Dumbledore. Not only did he straighten his back which was leaning on the sofa, but he also showed a look of concentration.
"Don't be nervous, it's just a letter from an old friend."
He smiled at her, took the letter in his hand and waved it at her, indicating the name of the sender:
"Ms. Griselda Marchbank of the Wizarding Examinations Authority. I think you have met her during the OWL exam. We are old friends."
A premonition that something was wrong suddenly took over Jian Yu's body.
The words "wizard exam", "Mage class" and "owL" put together seemed to touch a string in her mind!
But compared to her, Dumbledore's strange behavior made him look more like the candidate who took the OWL exam.
He put the letter on the table with both hands, poured some more herbal tea into his mouth, put a piece of chocolate in it, and took a deep breath.
"It's just an old acquaintance." He smiled to ease his nervousness. "Gerselda was very happy to satisfy my little curiosity in advance."
Jian Yu had a wooden face. She knew what that wrong feeling was.
The letter contained her OWL test results sent by Marchban!
Then, Dumbledore laid the letter firmly on the table. Instead of opening the envelope with his hands, he used the teapot to conjure up a small paper cutter and solemnly cut the seal bit by bit, moving very carefully for fear of accidentally damaging the letter inside.
He reached into the envelope with his right thumb and index finger, pinched the thin parchment covered with writing, and gently pulled out half of it. With one eye half-closed, he looked inside through the lens with the other eye.
Jian Yu was surprised to see that every wrinkle on his face had stretched out, and the lines at the corners of his eyes and mouth were extending upwards one by one!
It was a mysterious and proud smile. With such a smile, he pushed the letter to her, stood up straight and walked towards the stairs!
Jian Yu stared in amazement as his back disappeared at the stairs.
She took the envelope that was pushed in front of her and looked inside in confusion:
12 o's.
Many outstanding graduates - Percy, Bill and even Crouch - have achieved this result, and there is nothing surprising about it.
Compared to this, the noise coming from downstairs reminded her that Dumbledore's excitement about this seemed to be beyond her imagination.
There was a loud clang of pots and pans hitting the floor, followed by Mrs. Weasley's panicked cry:
"Albus, no, stay away from our kitchen! What did you say? A love dinner? I'm sorry, but I don't think it's right for you to personally-"
Her words of protest were interrupted by Dumbledore's gentle and boastful words:
"Molly, I'm sorry, but I thought I'd give some delicious treats to a child who works so hard and loves to learn... and of course her hard-working principal."
He didn't have time to wait for Mrs. Weasley, who was trying to clean up the mess and looked confused, to ask questions. He said impatiently:
"Yes, you know what I mean. Jade got 12 O's. Of course, you and Arthur have two children, Percy and Bill, who also got 12 O's. You may be used to it. But as the headmaster, I should give praise to any student who raises the educational level of the school."
Mrs. Weasley stared with her mouth open in amazement as Dumbledore stormed out of the kitchen.
Question Digory, understand Digory, be Digory.
She was a little unsure. Was this great wizard, who was usually gentle and calm...possessed by some show-off spirits?
"Albus Diggory?" she murmured. "No, no, maybe Albus Crouch? Twelve o's... sounds familiar..."
There was another series of hurried footsteps, and Dumbledore showed his healthy physique by running all the way from the kitchen to the hallway.
There was a loud sound of curtains being drawn back, and the whole house was filled with a shrill scream. It was the portrait of Mrs. Black, protesting with all her might against the presence of Dumbledore and members of the Order of the Phoenix in her house.
"Long time no see, Walburga. You look good and even willing to come out to greet me." Dumbledore happily praised himself with a loud voice. "How did you know that my good student Jade Jane got 12 Os in the OWL exam?"
Without waiting for Mrs. Black to respond, he pulled the curtain shut, silencing the other party's voice.
He looked around the house and realized with regret that most of the Order of the Phoenix members were busy and the place was empty: Sirius was busy protecting his godson Harry; workers like Lupin, Bill and Fleur were probably working hard; Tonks, Moody and others had probably returned to the Ministry of Magic to carry out their duties.
He sighed with regret as he was unable to find the next person to talk to. He felt as if he had drawn his sword and looked around, feeling confused.
But he soon found his target, which was the bulky Inferi Regulus, crawling and wriggling down the stairs in the dark.
"Alas - Regulus." Dumbledore shook his head, dodged the other's limbs, sighed and cast a few cleansing spells on him, "If your spirit in heaven could see that Hogwarts is getting better and better today, you would be happy about it, right? If you knew that there is a junior in your school who is working hard to fight against the Dark Lord to fulfill your last wish, and even got a full 12 o's, would you feel comforted?"
The Inferi made an "Aba Aba" sound.
"I think you are indeed relieved." Dumbledore smiled and sent him back to the house. "Of course, I am also relieved. My education is still very good. At least it has improved the overall quality of education at Hogwarts."
These 12 freshly-baked o's were like a timely rain, diluting the gloom that had been caused by the accusations that the school's teaching quality was deteriorating.
But this also made Jian Yu groan in embarrassment. She felt as if she was more like a corpse——
Maybe the body is still alive, but the soul is already dead.
