Xiao Cheng is dragged into a game world, weak, helpless, and suffering from amnesia. Faced with mentally challenged NPCs, a teammate who seems like a big shot obsessed with finding bugs, and unreli...
midnight.
The remaining four people gathered in the hall. The mute girl was not there, but everyone knew exactly what had happened.
On the electronic screen, the clown scanned the crowd with a meaningful look. He sat on a stool, gently stroking the half-open carnivorous plant on his right.
The carnivorous plant, planted in a flowerpot, swayed its branches gently and contentedly, its petals covered with fine, barbed teeth.
The flowerpot was held reverently in the hands of the puppet No. 5.
“It seems the wolf was quite shrewd today.” The monitor screen behind the clown showed the mute girl’s corpse. “So, as usual, I will reveal the last clue of the day before you vote.”
"Secret 4, it's not mine, but it's mine too."
"Sure enough, it's another vague and useless clue." Xiao Cheng sighed.
"Now for the exciting moment—" the clown rubbed his face excitedly, "Sinners! Begin the voting! Then, prepare for the execution frenzy!"
"Hurry up, hurry up! Don't try to stall for time in this pointless way!" he kept urging.
The four stood there quietly. Number Two glanced at Xiao Cheng with a subtle look, opened his mouth as if to say something.
“I do have some incredible information to offer,” Xiao Cheng interjected, a gentle, innocent smile on her face. “Like witnessing a murder scene or something… Uh, is that something I can talk about?”
"What did you say?" Number One frowned, looking over warily. "A murder scene? Who did you see as the wolf?!"
"Don't get so worked up," Xiao Cheng said helplessly, spreading her hands. "Then I'll vote first. Whether you believe me or not is up to you, okay?"
"I guess the wolf today is..."
She deliberately dragged out her words, her teasing gaze shifting back and forth between Number One and Number Two.
"It's me!" Number One suddenly interrupted her. "I'm the wolf. I killed the mute girl. Vote now."
"Huh?" Xiao Cheng looked somewhat surprised. "Number One, is it really you? I thought... I must have mistaken you." As she said this, her gaze was fixed on Number Two.
The moment Number One spoke, Number Two looked slightly taken aback, but quickly regained his composure. Xiao Cheng couldn't see through his thoughts, so she turned to Fang He, who hadn't said a word, and asked.
"You'll always have different opinions, won't you?" She smiled, but there was no real smile in her eyes. Then, the mask-like smile vanished instantly. "After all, you've seen it, haven't you?"
Fang He calmly met her gaze and asked, "What did you see?"
“Ugh… How boring.” Xiao Cheng sighed. “Number One, if you insist, let your partner make the decision first.”
“It’s her.” Number Two lowered his eyes, avoiding Number One’s overly complicated gaze. “She’s the wolf, and I… saw her too.”
“Then there’s nothing more to say.” Xiao Cheng looked up at the clown swaying back and forth on the electronic screen. “Today’s wolf is Elite Lady Number One, isn’t it?”
Whether Fang He's vote came first or not made no difference. The clown hummed a tuneless tune with glee: "Then, let the execution begin!"
Suddenly, a bright green vine sprouted from beneath Number One's feet. The vine grew longer and thicker, faster and faster, propelling Number One straight up toward the ceiling.
Countless tiny roots burrowed into Number One's body, gradually assimilating her with the vines. Her skin and bones gradually peeled away and dissolved, and finally, at the top of the vines, she silently transformed into a half-open carnivorous flower bud.
On the screen, the carnivorous plant that Puppet No. 5 was holding twisted even more joyfully, as if welcoming its kind, the new member of the group.
The clown burst into a gleeful and arrogant laugh, then the screen snapped shut and, when it lit up again, displayed a line of bloody text.
"Congratulations, the one executed today is—a sheep."
"Wow, I knew I was wrong." Xiao Cheng said in an exaggerated tone, then turned to look at Fang He. "But it won't have much of an impact. After all, if you were also a sheep, number one might be a courier."
Neither Fang He nor Number Two spoke.
Xiao Cheng stretched wearily and went upstairs.
As she passed by Number Two, she seemed to suddenly remember something, paused, then approached him and whispered in his ear, "See, I really am a man of my word. I said I wouldn't expose you, and I won't."
"In short, your methods are more sophisticated than I imagined. She's yours. How did you manage to do that?"
Number Two did not answer. He calmly took out a medicine bottle from his pocket, unscrewed the cap, and poured out the pills one by one.
The snow-white pills bounced to the ground, and then he casually tossed the bottle away, put his hands in his pockets, and looked up at the carnivorous plant on the ceiling with a blank expression.
Then he gave a cold laugh, turned around and went upstairs.
Xiao Cheng watched his retreating figure, then bent down to pick up a pill: "What is this?" She crushed the pill between her fingers, "It's just Vitamin C."
"So, Fang He, why don't you expose me?"
"You clearly saw me come out of the mute girl's room, didn't you? If you had voted for me first, Number One might still be alive now. As for me... I'm the accomplice today. Maybe it's better for me to be dead, isn't it?"
She felt that the plot should have developed this way as it should have.
"You can't die here," Fang He simply replied.
"It might all end tomorrow, Fang He." Xiao Cheng brushed the powder off her hands. "If you were a wolf, would you kill me without hesitation?"
