Xiao Cheng is dragged into a game world, weak, helpless, and suffering from amnesia. Faced with mentally challenged NPCs, a teammate who seems like a big shot obsessed with finding bugs, and unreli...
The moment they stepped into the cabin, Xiao Cheng and Fang He both clearly felt the change in space.
Before me was an extremely luxurious, magnificent hall, with every crack in the bricks filled with diamonds, and the lights shining on it shimmering with mottled light.
At each of the four corners of the hall stands a golden pillar with coiled dragons. The pillars are extremely tall and extend upwards all the way to the dome, which is painted with exquisite colors.
Right next to the four golden pillars are four elevators in operation; according to the floor display, there are at least eighty floors here.
It is obvious that even the most luxurious cruise ship cannot achieve this.
"How is it! Isn't it a feeling I've never experienced before!" The red lobster man turned to face the two of them, swinging his pincers in an exaggerated manner.
"The main event hasn't officially started yet, but you can go to the front desk to exchange for trading currency first. After all, you can only enjoy this place better if you have enough money!" The blue lobster man pointed impatiently to the spot directly in front of him.
Xiao Cheng looked up and saw a marble table several tens of meters long, its surface divided into several equal parts, each marked with a prominent sign.
The area includes a trading area, an exchange area, a lottery area, and an information area.
Behind each section, there was a lobster-shaped man in a sharp suit, sitting upright and solemnly staring at the long line of tourists in front of him.
These tourists didn't have all sorts of strange heads; apart from their slightly blank expressions, they looked pretty much the same as normal people.
"Isn't it almost time?" The red lobster man covered his mouth, unable to contain his excitement.
"Almost there, almost there!" The blue lobster man looked up expectantly. "I can hear it... I can hear it, it's actually His home turf today!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a faint chanting suddenly echoed through the hall. The voice was clear and gentle, as if it had drifted from another time and space. It was elusive yet incredibly captivating.
Even Xiao Cheng felt a moment of disorientation, all her thoughts vanished, and when she came back to her senses, she was surprised to find that she had already started queuing.
The singing had stopped at some point. Suddenly, she keenly sensed a gaze and looked up sharply. She saw a woman draped in a gorgeous veil leaning against the carved railing on the second-floor corridor.
The woman swirled the wine in her glass and lazily raised it to her.
The scarlet liquid splashed against the glass, leaving mottled marks.
"Wait, you, oh."
The woman spoke silently, a slight upward curve to her lips, revealing a somewhat ambiguous smile.
Then she tilted her head back, downed the wine in her glass in one gulp, and abruptly turned and left.
Xiao Cheng looked up at her figure, his pupils suddenly contracting.
The moment the woman turned away, her skirt billowed up, revealing a pale blue fishtail stained with blood, hidden beneath layers of luxurious fabric.
That's... a merman?!
But then, in the blink of an eye, a thin mist instantly enveloped the corridor, leaving only a vast expanse of white.
When the fog completely dissipated, all the floors disappeared, leaving only a crowded lobby and a wall that reached all the way to the dome.
With a crisp clatter, an empty wine glass fell from the sky and shattered at Xiao Cheng's feet.
As if some mysterious switch had been flipped, all the lobster-men instantly transformed into waiters in tuxedos.
They faced the crowd with identical, mechanical smiles, then bowed in unison: "Welcome, everyone. The first floor of the Miracle Casino is now open. We bestow upon you your share of happiness today."
Amidst the bustling crowd, a burst of enthusiastic cheers erupted instantly.
They rushed toward the front desk, and Xiao Cheng was suddenly pushed from behind, causing her to stumble. Fortunately, Fang He caught her in time and grabbed her, preventing her from falling badly.
"Be careful." Fang He led her through the crowd, until they were almost in a corner where they could finally stand still.
"What the heck... what's going on? Why are there so many people all of a sudden?" Xiao Cheng was completely bewildered as she watched them desperately squeeze towards the front desk. "Trading area? There are already transactions at the very beginning?"
Fang He was taller than her, so he could see the front without much effort.
“They’re buying tickets.” He saw the details of their transaction. “They must be tickets to the elevator.”
Xiao Cheng couldn't help but complain, "What kind of shady business is this? You need a ticket to get on the elevator?"
"No matter what kind of shady businessman he is, we have to buy this ticket. There's nothing else on the first floor; if we want to get through, we have to go upstairs."
"By the way, speaking of upstairs, did you see the second-floor corridor just now?" Xiao Cheng asked. "It was right after that singing started."
"Second-floor corridor?" Fang He frowned, somewhat confused. "What corridor? Over there... wasn't there only one wall from the beginning?"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Cheng was slightly taken aback.
"Wait... why is it always a wall? The wall only appeared after the white mist appeared; it was clearly there before that..."
Her words came to an abrupt end.
She suddenly realized that she couldn't remember what the hall looked like before the singing started.
The woman, the white mist, and the broken wine glass.
It all seemed to be nothing more than her illusion.
"...Xiao Cheng?"
She heard Fang He calling her and responded somewhat blankly, "Yes, I'm here."
Fang He was silent for a moment, then touched her forehead with some concern: "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine... It was probably the effect of that singing earlier, it's okay." Xiao Cheng shook her head, forcing herself to come back to her senses. "So what's next? We don't have a single penny left to buy tickets."
