Xiao Cheng is dragged into a game world, weak, helpless, and suffering from amnesia. Faced with mentally challenged NPCs, a teammate who seems like a big shot obsessed with finding bugs, and unreli...
Alternatives.
Xiao Cheng raised an eyebrow slightly as she looked at the merman in front of her, who was extremely excited.
"Since this is a bet between you and someone else... isn't it a bit impolite to drag me into this for no reason?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the merman's expression froze: "What do you mean? Are you trying to refuse? But why? After you replace me, you can even control this place! Even if you can't become a god immediately, you will still have considerable authority here!"
"Become a god?" Xiao Cheng keenly caught the word and asked thoughtfully, "So you're aiming to become a god? Is that what you made in your bet?"
“I won’t allow you to refuse.” The merman didn’t answer her, but grinned with bloodshot eyes. “I’ve waited so long, you’re my last chance. Besides… he, he’s still in my hands.”
He suddenly swung his arm violently.
Suddenly, a rock face in front of Xiao Cheng softened, bubbling and gurgling as murky mud slowly flowed down, revealing a broken mirror.
Ripples spread across the mirror's surface, revealing a blurry image that gradually becomes clearer.
As Xiao Cheng watched the video of Fang He leaning against the rock wall treating his wounds, she secretly clenched her fists.
“Don’t misunderstand, I’m not trying to threaten you,” the merman continued, “I’m just offering you a possibility.”
“I can tell you plainly that the sun will rise again soon, and he won’t survive this round,” he calmly declared to Xiao Cheng.
“In fact, since you came here, I have gradually lost control of Hell. It is now completely uncontrolled and operates entirely based on its original settings.”
"There are no living people in hell."
“But now I’m giving you a chance to save him. Agree to come with me to fulfill the bet. It’s not too late. You have a chance to temporarily shut down this place before the next sunrise.”
The male merman pointed at the mirror, adopting a condescending and condescending posture.
He was certain of Xiao Cheng's choice.
In fact, Xiao Cheng would never risk Fang He's life.
She sighed softly: "Who is He?"
The merman answered very devoutly, "He is the beginning of God, the start of everything, the God of Gods."
"Believe me, you will willingly bow down to His divine power, He will give you everything you want, and all you need to offer is your faith."
Xiao Cheng remained silent for a moment.
"It sounds like a cult," she remarked with particular succinctness.
“It’s okay, you can treat Him as anything, He won’t care about these trivial details.”
The merman wasn't angry at her; instead, he calmly reiterated, "So, have you thought it through, my successor? Will you come with me to fulfill the unfinished bet?"
"Then let's go."
Xiao Cheng looked at the glasses again. Fang He had already treated his wounds and was walking around, probably looking for her.
“A wise choice,” the merman chuckled.
A series of rumbling sounds were heard, and half of the cave wall suddenly trembled and split open from the middle, revealing a similar underground staircase.
The staircase was extremely long, with no end in sight, and the front was hidden in a thick darkness.
"Please go ahead." The male merman led the way, wriggling his fishtail.
The rotting flesh and bones scraped against the ground, making a rather unpleasant sound.
Xiao Cheng followed behind him without saying a word, and stepped onto the first step.
Suddenly, the world spun around her, and then the steps, along with her, slowly began to fall downwards.
A panicked roar came from above. Xiao Cheng looked up and saw countless blades of light enveloping him, instantly annihilating him until there was hardly any trace left.
The wreckage fell down in a flurry, blending into the dissipating specks of light, creating a somewhat dreamlike scene.
Then those points of light collided and merged in the air, becoming increasingly dazzling.
Colorful light enveloped Xiao Cheng, and a warm feeling spread throughout her body, making her feel incredibly comfortable.
The ethereal chanting of the mermaid rang in her ears again. A gentle breeze seemed to blow, and layers of gauze curtains fell down, swaying and brushing against Xiao Cheng's cheek. Her vision was obscured by the white gauze, making everything appear hazy.
The stone steps carried her to a steady landing.
Guided by the chanting, Xiao Cheng tentatively took a step forward. The scene before her suddenly changed; in the blink of an eye, she was back at the door of the merman's room.
But it doesn't quite seem like it.
She looked at the blurry figure, with a huge fishtail trailing behind the gauze curtains, leaning lazily against the wicker chair.
The chanting stopped abruptly, replaced by a cold elevator announcement.
"Ding-dong."
"We've arrived at the 81st floor."
"Please exit first and then enter in an orderly manner."
Eighty-first floor?
This was indeed unexpected for Xiao Cheng, since she had been wondering if she could sneak in.
But why are the merfolk here too?
So, was she the one who killed the male merman?
Filled with doubt, Xiao Cheng pushed aside the gauze curtain in front of her and walked towards the rattan chair, but was blocked after only a few steps.
An invisible wall of air rose up in front of her, completely blocking her from her spot.
Then the merman slowly said, "Don't go any further. You are not qualified to stand in front of Him."
As she spoke, she sat up, facing Xiao Cheng.
The curtains inside the room automatically rose and hung loosely on the hooks on the ceiling.
