Xiao Cheng is dragged into a game world, weak, helpless, and suffering from amnesia. Faced with mentally challenged NPCs, a teammate who seems like a big shot obsessed with finding bugs, and unreli...
A face wearing a Nuo mask suddenly came close, and a shrill scream like an air raid siren rang in my ears.
Xiao Cheng was jolted awake and immediately snapped back to reality. Before her mind could process what was happening, she raised her hand and slapped him across the face.
It hit, but it didn't do any good.
Her hand felt as if it were sinking into a pool of viscous liquid, struggling to penetrate the thing's face. Where her palm touched, it twisted slightly, rippling outwards in concentric circles.
"Hehe." The thing stopped making noise, darted out quickly, and hung upside down from the ceiling, staring at Xiao Cheng and grinning foolishly.
Xiao Cheng then saw its full appearance.
It's unclear whether it's human or not, but it has an unusually large head, a thin body, and a faint blue glow. Its arms are very long, like a gibbon's, and its ten fingers are deeply embedded in the ceiling, holding its body in place.
The Nuo mask wasn't worn on his face; it was glued on. To be precise, the skin was melted and then the mask was welded onto it.
From the edges, the mask fits the face perfectly, as if it grew out of an uneven scar.
Xiao Cheng felt a chill run down her spine from its gaze and watched its every move warily. At the same time, she deliberately reached out to the side with her hand. Suddenly, her fingertips felt a chill, and she knew she had touched Fang He. So she patted him hard.
There was no response.
Fang He lay there motionless, and could not even feel his heartbeat or breathing, as if he were really dead.
"Holy crap! Fang He?!"
Xiao Cheng turned around sharply and saw Fang He's deathly pale face, her pupils dilated in shock.
Her heart skipped a beat for no reason. Just then, the strange thing seized her opening, slightly pulled back to gather its strength, and then launched itself forward, suddenly attacking the gap in her neck.
Xiao Cheng instinctively dodged, but her arm was suddenly grabbed, and she almost fell to the ground.
She then remembered that there was a red string tied to it.
Seeing that the creature's claws were already pouncing in front of him, Xiao Cheng thought to himself, "Damn it!" and only had time to dodge to the side to help him.
Sharp claws grazed her neck, then landed on the bed with a thud, gripping it so hard that a large section of the bedding and bed frame collapsed.
Xiao Cheng felt like a donkey tied to a stake, hastily dodging the ensuing combo. She finally managed to seize an opportunity to counterattack, but before she could even make a move, the bed collapsed completely.
Fang He's body landed on a pile of wreckage, spinning a few times due to inertia before landing squarely on the red rope. The rope suddenly tightened, pulling Xiao Cheng so hard she stumbled, narrowly avoiding falling.
"I'll knock..." Xiao Cheng was almost going crazy. Her arm was still aching from the pull just now, not to mention that the thing had no intention of letting her go. It chuckled maliciously and its claws left a trail of afterimages in the air.
"Fang He! If you're still alive, make a sound! Otherwise, don't blame me for using you as a shield!" Xiao Cheng grabbed a broken piece of thick wood and smashed it down on the thing's head.
It hit, but it still had no effect.
The flesh that was hit caved in instantly, and the wood cut deep into its waist, but it was like being stuck in a swamp, unable to move forward even half an inch.
"hey-hey."
The thing squatted down in front of Xiao Cheng and lightly flicked the wood with two fingers.
There was a click.
The wood was easily snapped in two, and the section that had cut into it shot out like a bullet, embedding itself in the wall with a snap.
Xiao Cheng: "..." Goodbye.
She decisively moved towards Fang He, first forcefully freeing the red rope from under his body, and then quickly thinking about how to escape.
A fallen big shot isn't really a big shot anymore; temporarily serving as a human shield is at least contributing something. I can't be tied up here forever; if the red rope really can't be untied, then…
Xiao Cheng's gaze shifted to Fang He's arm.
Cutting it off doesn't seem like a bad idea?
But without a knife in his hand, Xiao Cheng's mind raced. He spotted the monster poised to attack and thought, "Such powerful claws, it would be a waste not to make use of them."
Having made up her mind, she took a deep breath, then beckoned to it with a disdainful gesture and shouted defiantly, "Come here!"
The monster is really coming.
It seemed to be enraged, leaping forward quickly on all fours, and in a few flashes it was in front of Xiao Cheng, then raised its claws high.
Now!
Xiao Cheng's pupils contracted. Finding the right spot, she leaned forward slightly, enduring the biting cold, and pulled Fang He's arm in front of her.
A flash of cold light appeared before my eyes, followed by a crisp clanging sound.
Xiao Cheng stared blankly as the dagger flew towards her, effortlessly severing the monster's outstretched hand before crashing heavily to her feet.
"Awooo—!!" The monster let out a shrill scream, clutching the severed wound on its arm, and hopped and leaped to the other side of the room, shrinking into the shadows in the corner.
It was convulsing in pain, and a pale blue, foul-smelling liquid seeped from between its toes, dripping onto the ground and corroding the tiles, leaving pits.
Xiao Cheng stared blankly for a few seconds at the severed hand that was writhing on the ground and eventually turned into a puddle of black water. Then he quickly pulled out the dagger from the ground and turned to look at the window.
The window was opened a crack, and that's where the dagger came from.
There was a person standing outside the window.
To be precise, it was the skinned female corpse they saw in the coffin during the day.
Xiao Cheng then realized that her eyeballs had been gouged out, leaving only two empty holes in the eye sockets, stuffed with blood-stained cotton wool.
As if noticing her gaze, the female corpse covered her face shyly, then quickly turned and disappeared into the darkness.
