Bi Qiao'an lay weakly in the ice and snow, watching the heavy snow bury her alive. Thinking back to her three years of solitary survival in the apocalypse, her consciousness gradually blurred. ...
Zhang Heping sensed the sadness emanating from him and didn't know what to say for a moment.
He patted Li Zhaozhao on the shoulder, offering a weak and feeble consolation: "It'll be alright."
Li Zhaozhao gazed into the distance and murmured softly, "Will it?"
Shen Yanming did not take Nuannuan to the riverbank, as he was worried that someone might go there to play in the water in the middle of the night to cool off.
The two wandered around in the mountains for a long time before finding a secluded spot.
After squatting down and waiting for half an hour, seeing that everything was quiet, they all slipped into the space together.
An'an was still squatting on the floor of the storage area, crying. When she saw her father and sister come in, she couldn't hold back anymore and started wailing.
"Dad, Mom, she..."
Shen Yanming put Nuannuan down, went over and hugged An'an, wiped away his tears and snot with a tissue, and comforted him, "Mom is okay, Dad will protect her."
"Really?" An'an asked, sobbing.
Shen Yanming nodded: "Yes, Dad came in to stay by Mom's side and help her."
He didn't hide it, believing that even children have the right to know.
An'an stopped crying, but her eyes were red and she looked extremely pitiful.
Nuannuan noticed that her brother was just as disheveled as she was, so she went up and hugged An'an, saying, "Brother is okay, Dad is very capable!"
That's right, Nuannuan has witnessed Shen Yanming's abilities recently. Not only can he go up mountains and down rivers to catch fish and dig for wild vegetables, but he also earns the respect of others.
An'an nodded: "I understand, little sister!"
Shen Yanming took one child by the hand, walked to the vicinity of the transparent light screen, rode his electric scooter, and took the two children back to the mobile villa.
Then, looking up at Bi Qiaoan, he asked, "Wife, how are things over there?"
Bi Qiaoan was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and said, "It's alright, how did you get in?"
"I'm worried about you, and I want to stay with you. I'm right here. If you can't hold on, just let me out." He doesn't care if he has to deal with everyone else.
Bi Qiaoan nodded: "Okay, thank you for your hard work, darling!"
Shen Yanming curled his lips and took his two children to the bathroom to take a bath.
An'an and Nuan Nuan sat in the bathtub and the bathtub, respectively. The warm water washed away the sweat and grime from their bodies, and the two little ones comfortably closed their eyes.
Seeing that the two of them still wanted to play in the water, Shen Yanming quickly grabbed a towel and carried them out: "Be good, babies. Daddy has to go help your mom later and won't have time to play with you. Let's rest early today, okay?"
Upon hearing this, An'an and Nuannuan nodded obediently and stretched out their arms for Shen Yanming to hug them.
Old Shen hadn't even showered yet, he was all slovenly. He could only support the two kids by their armpits, lift them out, wrap them in a bath towel, dry them off, and then put them back on the soft bed.
"Are you hungry? Did you eat well tonight?" Shen Yanming asked.
He knew that Nuannuan hadn't been eating particularly well lately, but she was still getting enough to eat. He didn't know about An'an, though.
The two children drooled when they heard this.
Shen Yanming then asked, "What would you like to eat?"
An'an: "Mung bean cake, egg yolk pastry, spring rolls, chicken wings, shrimp..."
Shen Yanming chuckled and patted his head: "You're quite greedy. Where's Nuannuan?"
Nuannuan's eyes darted around: "Daddy, I want to eat fruit."
Shen Yanming understood and let the two children change their clothes themselves. He set up a beanbag chair on the bed, then took out the food from the storage area and laid it out one by one.
"You're going to sleep soon, so eat less."
The two children nodded, but their eyes were glued to the food. They're just kids; they get hungry after a few days without it. And their appetites are small; they only get a couple of bites of each dish before they can't eat anymore.
Shen Yanming put the half-eaten mung bean cake, chicken wings and other food back into the storage area and said to An'an, "Dad will put them away for you. You can eat them again tomorrow. We can't waste them."
An'an nodded: "I understand, Dad."
Nuannuan's side is easy to handle. The fruit is all very small, and there's nothing left over. We just need to take it back and put it away properly.
Shen Yanming hesitated for a moment, but still took the two children to brush their teeth before letting them go back to bed.
An'an had been secretly sent to the space by Bi Qiao'an to rest recently, so she didn't feel anything. But Nuan Nuan, who fell asleep in Shen Yanming's arms every day, had long missed the feeling of her own big bed. She fell asleep in less than two minutes.
An'an had wanted to chat with his younger sister, but before he could think of anything to say, a soft snore started beside him. An'an frowned and could only close his eyes and go to sleep.
Shen Yanming was unaware of what was happening in the bedroom. He was sitting at the entrance of the villa, concentrating on observing the situation outside.
As owners, they do indeed have this benefit, but they rarely use it and often forget about it.
Shen Yanming discovered that apart from his wife and her few temporary teammates, the area around her was completely empty, consisting of city ruins. It looked like a place where one could hide, with no open view at all.
"Honey, how did you sense that? It doesn't look like there's any danger!"
Bi Qiaoan was also frustrated: "I just felt tightness in my chest and panicked, so I thought about preparing in advance in case something unexpected happened."
Shen Yanming nodded: "Wife, you did the right thing!"
"Honey, why don't you go take a shower? You look like you haven't groomed yourself in a long time." He was all unkempt, not caring if his daughter disliked him.
"Yeah, we only found a water source today. A bunch of men went to bathe in the water, but I didn't squeeze in with them. Mainly because I didn't want our Nuannuan to see something she shouldn't and get a sty."
Bi Qiaoan chuckled, startling the tense group and giving them a jolt.
"What's wrong, sister?"
"It's nothing, I just remembered some embarrassing things my husband did. Sigh, I miss him so much!"
"He must be thinking of you too. It's so wonderful to have someone you care about!"
Bi Qiaoan nodded, but before she could say anything, she heard the man's voice in her mind: "They're right, I miss you so much, darling!"
Bi Qiaoan's face flushed red instantly: "Alright, alright, I know. Everything's safe and sound here now, don't you really want to take a shower?"
"No, let's talk about it after you're done here, otherwise I won't feel at ease. Besides, if you need me to go out and help, it really doesn't matter whether I take a shower or not."
Bi Qiaoan thought for a moment and didn't insist. "Okay, whatever makes you happy."
Shen Yanming smiled smugly as he took out a roast duck from the storage area and began to enjoy it.
However, while gnawing, he consciously looked up at the sky.
Bi Qiaoan snapped out of her daze after noticing her husband eating a late-night snack.
She looked around warily, and suddenly noticed what appeared to be a figure moving in the distance.
Bi Qiaoan nudged the girl next to her who was almost asleep and whispered in her ear, "Wake up, look, isn't there someone over there?"
The girl trembled at these words and almost screamed. Fortunately, Bi Qiaoan reacted quickly and covered the girl's mouth the moment she woke up.
