The Great Pirate Era.
The great seas surge and churn, powerhouses destroy and annihilate, each fighting their own battles. It's utterly—
Demotivating!
I, Russil Kuro, age tw...
Several hours later, beneath the subway train building in the Royal City of Dovizios, the underground train stopped at its destination.
"We've arrived. This is the royal city."
As the train came to a stop, York first saluted Kuro and the others, then smiled and said, "This pleasant train journey has come to an end. Please don't forget this 'brilliant starry sky'! Next, you will experience the capital city of the Dominican Republic, a dazzling jewel of the Dominican Republic. I will also accompany you to the palace."
Kuro ignored him and walked out first after the train stopped. York's eyes lit up. Seeing that they all had their backs to him, he wanted to go over, but just then, a hand hooked his shoulder.
“My friend! Let’s tour the city of Dovizios together!” Sazir put his arm around York and laughed loudly.
York twitched the corners of his mouth, a smile spreading across his face: "Indeed, my friend..."
A group of people walked up to the top and came out from the main gate. Sure enough, in this royal city, apart from the underground train tower which was a bright high-rise building, the surrounding area was full of low bungalows, all the way to the city wall in front. Only in the very center was there a tall inner city wall, inside which was a large castle made of almost snow-white, shiny stone.
That is the royal palace.
Harvey stayed close to Kuro and the others. After they stepped out the door, he bowed and said to Kuro, "Please come with me to the palace. Be careful, the people on the way are somewhat dangerous."
"Danger?"
Cass stepped forward, glanced around at the people huddled in the corners of the low-lying bungalows, peering out like rats, and frowned. “Isn’t it your job as rulers to remove the danger and improve their treatment? If they are living well, where will the danger come from?”
"Improve benefits...?"
Harvey pondered the word, shook his head, and said nothing more, simply continuing to lead the way.
York, however, let out a cold laugh. He broke free from his arm around Sazir and ran ahead, revealing a sarcastic smile: "Oh~ improved their treatment, of course it has improved. Please look closely, these low houses weren't like this before. The buildings here used to be very bright. Even compared to the most famous 'Dressrosa' in the New World today, their living conditions wouldn't be much worse."
"Even so, our people still want better treatment, and our great king will of course satisfy his lovely people. Look, all those tall buildings have been demolished."
He pointed to the low bungalows around him, the tops of which clearly showed signs of demolition, some even looking as if they had been forcibly shaved off, creating this low-lying phenomenon.
"Are you satisfied, my lovely people?!"
York burst into loud laughter, his teeth bared and drool sticking out of his mouth, his eyes gradually turning bloodshot as he stared at the people huddled near the houses as they passed by.
Faced with York's appearance, the crowd all shrank back.
Faintly, one could still hear some sobbing.
"Oh, you seem quite satisfied."
York's smile faded, and he transformed into a憨态可掬 (endearing, chubby) fat man. He pushed up his glasses with his middle and ring fingers, turned to Kuro and the others, and said, "Look, the Marines, they are very satisfied with our governance, so happy that they're crying with joy!"
Wilbur couldn't help but yell, "You wicked..."
"Shut up!!"
York's expression suddenly turned ferocious. "If you don't understand anything, don't ask questions! You are just the navy, you have no right to interfere in the internal affairs of our kingdom! We are a member state, and it is our right to do what we want!"
"York!" Harvey's expression changed, and he shouted.
York seemed to remember something at this moment, took a deep breath, and smiled again. "I'm sorry, I lost my composure. Please don't feel any ill will towards the Dominican Republic because of my humble appearance. I was just a little arrogant, but our great king is very kind, really, I promise."
Kuro stared blankly at York's ever-changing expression, simply asking, "How many hours has it been in total?"
Kuro immediately understood what Kuro meant and replied, "Mr. Kuro, it has been more than five hours since we arrived on the ship."
"More? How much more? It's too hard to calculate. Let's round up to six hours for anything extra." Kuro waved his hand. "That's 90 million Berries. Let's round it up to 100 million. We haven't even reached the palace yet, and we already have 100 million Berries. After buying graves for the people of Comerlik, we'll take a portion of the rest..."
Kuro didn't say anything more, but everyone else knew.
These people look so pitiful, let's help them if we can.
As human beings, we should have a conscience.
York also understood what was meant.
He sneered and said, "Please don't do that, because... they are a bottomless pit, they can never be satisfied."
He stopped speaking, turned around, and said, "We've arrived at the royal city."
The gate beneath the snow-white city wall slowly opened. Kuro glanced at the towering wall, clicked his tongue, and walked straight in.
After Kuro went inside, two soldiers suddenly rushed out from the gate, crossed their halberds, and said, "The king has only invited General Jinni. The others, please wait."
"Hmm?" Lida raised an eyebrow, about to lash out.
Kuro waved his hand, "Alright, alright, wait here. I'll go in and see what kind of trouble this guy is up to."
The other lieutenant generals, on the other hand, looked relieved.
Who is this person?
General Jinni.
Even if someone goes alone, they won't suffer any harm. Even if someone were to launch a truly audacious sneak attack, it wouldn't be able to cause Kuro any damage.
What a joke! In today's world, even if Kaido were to launch a sneak attack, it would be impossible for Kuro to die in an instant.
"They're here..."
Above the palace, a man who looked to be in his late teens or early twenties was holding a wine glass and swirling it around. His golden eyes were looking down at Kuro, who was walking towards him.
As if sensing something, Kuro looked up and could see the person with wine-red hair and golden eyes above the palace. The person above was smiling at him, a smile that carried a hint of curiosity and... a kind of unbridled arrogance that regarded it as his own.
This puzzled Kuro.
He recognized that look; it was the same look they gave him when they first approached Kaido and Linlin to recruit him.
What? This king also has a daughter who married me?
Kuro smirked and held up a finger, "One hundred million Berries."
"That's interesting..."
The middle-aged man smiled, turned around and walked in from above. "Open the main gate and let this admiral in. I will be waiting for him in the banquet hall."
