The Great Pirate Era.
The great seas surge and churn, powerhouses destroy and annihilate, each fighting their own battles. It's utterly—
Demotivating!
I, Russil Kuro, age tw...
On the main street of the port, Kuro walked at the front, a cigar dangling from his lips, his navy cloak swaying with each step.
Behind them, Kro followed with a cold expression, while Sazir grinned, looking around with hostility. A group of marines walked at the very back in silence, giving off a tremendous sense of pressure.
They didn't look like a regular military unit; they looked more like a criminal organization.
Even the youngest, Lida, was now staring at her surroundings like a wolf.
She wasn't pretending because of the atmosphere; she simply wanted to eat.
Pedestrians around them gave way upon seeing the navy, and among them were some people dressed differently who scrutinized them.
“Kuro,” Kuro said, glancing around.
Kro adjusted his glasses and said, "I just heard about 'Four-Cornered Hat' Bertro, who has a bounty of thirty million Berries."
"'Mad Dog' Dougworth, bounty of 42 million Berries."
"The monk Yuantong, known as 'Big-Eyed Monk,' has a bounty of seventy million Berries."
“There are also some small-time pirates with less than 20 million in assets. There are quite a few pirates here. Mr. Kuro, what should we do?”
Upon hearing this, Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke and asked, "Are these people criticized too much?"
“No, even ‘Four-Cornered Hat’ Betro is just a regular pirate; he hasn’t done anything particularly dangerous,” Kuro said.
“Then let’s follow the local rules and leave after we’ve resupplyed,” Kuro nodded and said.
This godforsaken place has existed for so many years; it would be a lie to say that the nearby navy didn't know about it. But to allow pirates to roam freely on this island for so long means they really can't be caught.
There are also many merchants in this town. Whenever the navy stops in a new place, they buy some food supplies. There is also the sight of Lida eating heartily. In addition, there are merchants who have come by, bargaining and arguing with the pirates.
The rules of this island are deeply ingrained in people's minds.
Kuro could certainly be captured, but there's no need to do so on this island. Why destroy the peaceful scene that people have worked so hard to create?
He's not Sakazuki.
"Kuro, this tastes good!"
Lida, who was wandering around the vendor's stall, was holding a box of squid balls and eating them with her mouth full of black squid juice. She ran happily toward Kuro.
Her movements caused the Autumn Water hanging from her waist to drag on the ground, making a clattering sound with each step she took, which made Kuro's teeth ache.
“I’m telling you, if you’re going to hold the sword properly, then hold it properly. It looks bad if the scabbard gets damaged.”
"I didn't do it on purpose. This is my height, what can I do?"
Lida glared at Kuro, and as if on purpose, swallowed the whole box of squid balls in one gulp. While chewing, she gripped the hilt of the knife with her hand, which was covered in black ink, and pulled it up sharply.
The way they were acting was as if they wanted to crush Qiu Shui to pieces.
Click.
As she moved, Qiu Shui's blade was drawn out of its sheath, revealing a black edge.
"It's just a broken knife, is it as edible as me?" Lida muttered, looking annoyed.
Is this an advantage?
And why are you comparing yourself to a knife?
Kuro twitched the corner of his mouth, about to speak, when suddenly, a voice rang out first.
"Little girl, knives also need to eat, just like humans eat other life forms. The food that knives need is human blood."
A tall figure blocked Lida's path.
The man was about three meters tall, with an extremely slender build. He was dressed in a white suit, wearing a top hat, and a gray scarf that reached his waist. He adjusted the brim of his hat and grinned at Lida. Above that grin were a hooked nose and a pair of slanted eyes.
"Little girl, if you don't want the knife, how about selling it to me? Uncle will offer a high price."
That wide grin, combined with his tall, thin frame, made him look incredibly terrifying.
The moment the pedestrians around saw this person appear, whether they were merchants or pirates, they all showed expressions of fear. Those who saw that the person was carrying valuable weapons instinctively covered their own weapons and ran away as fast as they could.
He seems to be a very threatening person.
Lida looked up at him, licked the ink off her fingers, and, completely unfazed by his terrifying smile, asked, "Uncle, who are you?"
"I?"
The tall, thin man laughed even more heartily, covering his left chest with his right hand and bowing slightly in a gesture of respect.
"My name is Gadi, and I work on Moe Island. My hobby is collecting good weapons. Little girl, I believe that weapons only work when they meet the right person. You're not suitable for this knife. If you sell it to me, I'll offer you a high price."
He held up two fingers. "Two hundred million Berries, I'll buy this knife."
Two hundred million...
Even Lida was taken aback.
Although famous swords are often hard to find, they still have a price.
The Great Grade Swords, Grade 21, wouldn't sell for 200 million Berries. Even if no one wanted to sell them, they certainly wouldn't fetch 200 million.
And this person casually spent 200 million!
That's a huge sum of money.
The price of one knife is comparable to that of two top-of-the-line ships.
In this world, cannons and warships are the orthodox way for ordinary people. Some people are willing to spend 200 million to modify their ships, but not everyone is willing to spend 200 million to buy a knife.
This price is irresistible to most people.
In fact, Lida didn't want to refuse either. She had disliked Qiu Shui for a long time, and if she could get rid of him, she would have done so long ago.
But we can't do that. Although Qiushui made her feel threatened, no matter what, this is Kuro's beloved sword. Only this sword can allow Kuro to unleash his true power.
