The Great Pirate Era.
The great seas surge and churn, powerhouses destroy and annihilate, each fighting their own battles. It's utterly—
Demotivating!
I, Russil Kuro, age tw...
After Sager struck, he pulled out his hoe and, with tears streaming down his face, smashed it down on the head of Barber, who was kneeling and motionless.
*Smack*
A hand grabbed his wrist.
Kuro appeared there and said in a deep voice, "That's enough. You have other things to do. He's dead."
He saw that smile.
He could understand now why this man, even on the verge of death, still possessed such drive.
Stopped by Kuro, Sag suddenly realized what was happening and looked at Barber kneeling in front of him in disbelief.
"He's dead..."
Sager murmured, "Is he really dead, that Barber..."
He died.
The man who had been whipping him constantly since he was captured and taken to the mine, simply because he said he had a devilish look in his eyes that showed defiance.
He just died like that?
The person who treats them like weeds, who kills others at will, just to make himself happy.
He died.
Barber is dead!!!
Sag suddenly roared, "He's dead! The mountain above us is gone!!!"
Crackling sounds!
The roar made Kuro's clothes rustle, and he released Sag's wrist and took a half step back.
"It really is Conqueror's Haki..." Kuro muttered.
"Resist! Resist!!"
Sager raised his hoe high and roared, "Barber is dead, so Krein Og will die too! Kill him! Remove this mountain from our heads!!"
As if a switch had been flipped, the boy named Sager uttered fierce words of resistance for the first time.
Under the influence of Conqueror's Haki, these numb people finally showed a slight fluctuation.
"But we..."
A burly man hesitated.
"No buts!"
Sager yelled at him, “Think about your family! Think about the future of the next generation! I don’t want to be a lowly person for generations to come, do you? Barber will die, and Krein Og will die too, as long as he’s dead, as long as he’s dead!”
His eyes were almost red. "We can be reborn! This country will have hope!!"
"Let's do it!!"
A burly man suddenly swung his hoe, smashing the rocks below to pieces. His eyes were bloodshot as he said, "My wife, my wife died in the mine. I don't want my child to be here too! I'm going to die sooner or later anyway, so I might as well fight!"
"Yes! Let's give it our all!"
A woman cried out, "For my child!"
"For the sake of the family!"
"So that no one else ends up in the same situation as me!"
"We will resist!!!"
Like lighting firecrackers, a spark began to appear in the eyes of these numb people, even if it was the spark of hatred.
In this open-pit mine, thousands of people raised their hoes, their voices echoing through the mountains.
Sagu looked at Kuro with expectant eyes, "You...you'll help us, right?"
"No."
Kuro shook his head: "I was just passing by. You guys handle this yourselves."
"ah..."
Sager's eyes showed disappointment, but he quickly regained his composure. "Forget it, we'll do it ourselves. It's our responsibility to do it ourselves. Instead of relying on others, we should rely on ourselves!"
"Everyone, let's start our new lives now! Even if it means death, we'll show Krein Og that we're not to be trifled with!!"
He shouted to those around him, and then one of them rushed out first.
"oh!!!"
The people shouted in unison and surged toward Sag like a tidal wave.
Under the influence of visual perception, these numb emotions have completely dissipated.
There was excitement, hatred, hope, and the thrill of liberation...
It felt as if this place was a broken prison.
Kuro, standing amidst the crowd, watched Sagu running ahead, narrowed his eyes, and said, "A Conqueror's Haki that's rare to see among millions. His charisma has infected many people; it's truly terrifying."
Before long, the crowd moved away from him, forming a torrent that surged from the open-pit mine toward the town.
call!
Just as they were leaving the open-pit mine, a gust of wind blew up from behind Kuro.
"I am a navy officer."
Kuro didn't even look at it, and just said something.
The wind stopped.
Kuro turned his head and saw that the huge figure that had been kneeling was now leaning down and lying diagonally on the ground.
It was as if his kneeling earlier was intentional...
That once ugly face now wore a smile of satisfaction, as if a wish had been fulfilled.
"Why..."
After a long while, Kuro finally sighed.
"Even though it's completely dead, is its will still so strong? Its body's instincts are already attacking me, just because you think I'm a pirate?"
"No wonder they were murderous towards me when I appeared... If I were in a different situation and encountered someone who could threaten my plans, I would also be murderous."
Kuro completely understands this.
Just like when he was in the East Blue, he also had the intention to kill any pirates with more than three million men who appeared.
Then secretly kill him, so as not to interfere with his leisurely retirement.
He understands, but to this extent... he can't do it.
This guy's willpower has reached a terrifying level.
There is a goal waiting for this person to accomplish, and they regard it as their mission.
"It's not surprising that someone with such willpower and such mastery of dual-color Haki would be able to achieve this."
Kuro shook his head, looking at Barber's corpse, and said, "I'm sorry, you were a strong person."
