The Great Pirate Era.
The great seas surge and churn, powerhouses destroy and annihilate, each fighting their own battles. It's utterly—
Demotivating!
I, Russil Kuro, age tw...
"Major General Bogart? He's resting up there."
As the boy said this, he suddenly handed the mop to Kuro. "Never mind that. We're a harmonious family. Even though you look like you have a high rank, no matter what your rank is, you still have to do chores. Let's do a big clean-up together!"
Kuro's eye twitched. Even if he didn't want to be a lieutenant general, he was indeed a lieutenant general now, and the base commander. You want a lieutenant general, a candidate for general, to do a big clean-up?
If I were willing to do it, that would be fine, but the problem is, he's so lazy, how could he do something like this!
He was given the order by a menial worker!
What, if I don't agree, do you think you can get the Five Elders to call you Lord Im with a mere flick of your tongue?
Or will the three generals still call you Tiger General?
"Hello!"
Kuro was about to speak when Lida interrupted.
"Kid, get your identities straight!"
Lida exclaimed, "This is Kuro! Lucilfer Kuro, codename Golden Lion, a candidate for general, your base commander! Show some respect!"
No one objected to this statement.
Even the most righteous Cass looked somewhat impatient.
Mr. Kuro is the person he respects most, and he will not allow anyone to disrespect Mr. Kuro!
"No, so what?"
The janitor said matter-of-factly, "Does the base commander not have to work? Even Major General Bogart has to work here."
No one objected to this statement.
The naval officers who were still cleaning up took it all for granted, their expressions highlighting the equality of all beings.
That should have been correct.
At least in Kuro's value system, this is correct.
but...
This isn't a past life!
Kuro had long been corrupted and decayed by this world of clear class distinctions, capitalism, and rampant feudalism!
If you try to impose the "equality of all beings" principle on him now, he might agree, but the world won't allow it.
Is this what the base led by Garp looks like?
No way!
"Enough!"
Cass suddenly took a step forward, his expression somewhat angry, staring directly at the handyman.
"Mr. Kuro's hands are for upholding justice, not for doing chores! If you make Mr. Kuro do chores, who will arrest the pirates?! Who will stop evil?! You?!"
"Tch, what pirates? Arresting pirates and all that is no good. Pirates are lives too." The handyman said sincerely, "Everything is a life. We should be more peaceful and not so hostile. Everyone has their own difficulties. They certainly didn't become pirates just because they wanted to. We should understand them."
Kuro raised an eyebrow.
These words sound somewhat familiar.
He had heard of it in the East China Sea.
What are you saying?!
Cass's eyes widened as he roared, "If pirates have their reasons, don't civilians have theirs too?! Those civilians yearn for justice, hoping it will save them and allow them to live in peace! We fight bravely against pirates for the safety of civilians! And now you're telling me pirates have their reasons?! Where is your justice?!!"
A burst of white smoke emanated from the roar, startling the handyman.
He paused for a moment, then slammed the mop down in his hand. He immediately saluted, his body ramrod straight. "Lieutenant General Kuro! Welcome... no, you've finally arrived! I'm so sorry, I was talking nonsense!"
His tears were almost coming out.
He came here because he admired the Navy's sense of justice.
He was unwilling to give up even if it meant starting as a menial worker.
Because his hometown was burned down by pirates.
But why, why would he say such a thing?
That's absolutely shameful!
"Um?"
Kuro frowned at this sight. He glanced past the handyman and looked around, and realized that something was wrong.
The menial soldiers are easy to deal with; they don't carry any weapons anyway.
It's understandable that the privates, first, second, and third class aren't carrying weapons, since they're in a fortress.
However, starting from the lieutenant-level officers, none of them carry weapons, which is where things get interesting.
He walked over to a major who was wiping a wall and asked, "Where's your weapon?"
"arms?"
The major turned his head and said, "Weapons and such are too violent. I've put them in the warehouse."
Kuro nodded and said, "So, is that why those warships haven't been maintained either?"
"Of course we won't maintain it. That's a weapon of violence, it's for killing people. It's best not to use it. Although I'm in the navy, I also want to be a peaceful navy," the major said matter-of-factly.
"That's a good ambition."
Kuro brushed past him, leaving behind a sentence, "Cass, call all your men over here and brainwash these people, no, scold them awake."
It's confirmed; this sign is exactly the same as what he saw in the East China Sea.
That person with the strange abilities came to G-3!
Kuro, his face grim, continued upwards until he reached the top-floor office, where Bogart's presence lingered.
He pushed open the door and saw the hook-nosed man sitting in a chair, engrossed in writing something. His left arm was still bandaged.
Hearing the door open, Bogart looked up, startled, and exclaimed, "Kuro?"
"Long time no see, are you injured?"
He glanced at the bandaged left hand and asked.
Boga nodded and said with a wry smile, "Yes, I was too soft-hearted, so I got hurt. It's good that you're here. G-3 is in your hands now. I... am preparing to leave the Navy."
