Chapter 89 Happy Mood

After Lida ordered a lot of food, she asked the waiter for a drink. Not long after, Crowe came over with a navy officer carrying a paper bag and placed the bag containing buns in front of Lida.

Lida took out a steaming hot bun from the paper bag and took a bite out of half of it.

Mmm...delicious!

Lida's eyes lit up as she buried her head in her food and ate heartily.

"Really?"

Kuro took a bun out of the paper bag and took a bite, despite Lida's fierce, protective gaze.

"Yes, it's quite good."

It's very soft when you bite into it, the filling is generous, and it's quite fragrant.

Soon, the waiter brought out the food that Lida had ordered.

Kuro ordered a bottle of red wine, slowly poured himself a sip, looked up at the blue sky above, and let out a relaxed breath.

Comfortable...

This kind of carefree and safe life is the most comfortable.

As Kuro enjoyed this rare moment of comfort, a small gaze was watching them from a dark corner of the building across the street, a gaze that seemed to have made some kind of decision.

Tap tap tap...

"Buy me a bouquet of flowers, kind sir!"

A series of small footsteps sounded. Kuro was eating when he heard a childish voice beside him, which sounded very weak.

He looked up and saw a little girl wearing a tattered robe and a patched hat, with a determined look on her face.

She looks no more than seven or eight years old.

However, in terms of nutrition, Lida's loli-like posture when maintaining physical strength was much better than hers.

The little girl was holding a bunch of wildflowers that she had clearly picked outside and hadn't been processed yet.

Is this country now valuing thinness as beauty even for little girls?

Obviously not.

Kuro glanced at her. "Kuro."

Kuro, who was standing next to Kuro, pushed up his glasses and walked to the little girl's side. The little girl was clearly frightened and took a few steps back.

Kro crouched down, gave the little girl a forced smile, and said, "Little girl, how much did you pay for all of these? I'll buy them all."

The little girl looked at the flowers, then at Lida who was happily eating, and swallowed hard. "I don't want money, can I...can I have something to eat?"

Kro said in surprise, "Little girl, if you have money, you can buy lots of food."

As he spoke, he pulled out a wad of pence and handed it to the little girl, saying, "Take this, you can go buy lots of food."

"I don't want money!"

The little girl took a few steps back, shook her head, and said, "I just want to eat a bite of food..."

"What are you doing!"

Just then, several people wearing black cloaks on the street noticed what was happening, and the one in the lead, a burly man, yelled at the little girl.

The little girl jumped up, abandoned the flowers, and ran away, disappearing into the alley.

"Don't run!"

Several patrolmen gave chase, while the burly man who had been leading the group earlier ran up to Kuro, grinning obsequiously:

"It is extremely embarrassing to have disturbed your dining experience, Your Excellency. I am Kaishao, the patrol captain of the Kingdom of Morgana. Your Excellency, to express my apologies, please pay for your meal."

"Really? Thank you so much."

Kuro glanced at Lida, who was engrossed in eating, and thought, "Saving some money is good."

"She's just a little girl, what's wrong with her selling flowers? Is she not allowed to sell things?" Kuro asked.

Kai Shao smiled and said, "The kingdom has a rule that no one is allowed to buy or sell these items except for those with special permission."

"Oh? Work?"

“Apart from those with special permission, they are not allowed to work. Of course, my lord, rest assured, the kingdom has policies in place to ensure that all civilians receive food, so there is no need to worry about their livelihood.”

Kai Shao's smile held a hint of reverence. "These are all rules set by Prince Amusement. The people must abide by His Highness's rules."

Lida finished devouring the food, licked her fingers, and asked, "What if people don't have enough to eat?"

"There is no such thing as not having enough to eat. Look at the people around you, not a single one of them is unhappy."

Kai Shao pointed to the people walking around, each of them with a happy smile on their face, a smile that couldn't be faked.

He himself was also very happy.

"Alright, you can leave now. I understand."

Kuro waved his hand and said.

Kaishao bowed and said with a smile, "Sirs Navy officers, I hope you have a pleasant time in Morgant."

After the burly man with the fierce face left, Lida muttered, "How can someone be happy if they're not full? I don't think that little girl is happy."

Kuro tapped her on the head and said irritably, "How other countries treat their citizens is their internal affair. Why do you care? Even the World Government can't interfere in the internal affairs of other countries."

Even so, Kuro narrowed his eyes, a hint of red gleam in them.

Observation Haki, activated.

Observation color is very useful; it can foresee danger, sense enemies, and even perceive emotions.

Undeniably, what Kai Shao said was true.

The emotion Kuro sensed from the robed citizens he scanned was happiness.

On this street, not a single citizen conveyed any other emotion; they were all 'happy'.

As his Observation Haki expanded and gradually spread across the island, Kuro frowned.

On the entire island, apart from the tourists, no one was unhappy, except... the little flower girl from before.

Her emotions were very different.

Sadness, hunger, anger... and despair.
